Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify hospice volunteers' perception of the death. Methods : This study was conducted with 327 adults who registered for the hospice volunteer education program in Severance Hospice Center from 1996 through 1999. The 4-years data was collected through a self-reporting questionnaire constructed and revised by the authors. The questionnaire was classified into 5 categories. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS/W. Results : 1) Hospice volunteers were mostly female(93.9%) with an average age of 48 years. The majority(82.6%) of the participants were Protestant. 2) From the 4-years data over 90 percent of participants thought of death as a process of life and responded positively to these three items : 'Death is a temporary separation from family', 'I will die in peace', 'Faith in God results in a freedom from fear of death'. 3) Age were statistically relevant to the following items: 'I often read the obituaries in the newspaper', 'Dying is a tragedy', and 6 items were significantly related to religion: 'I rarely think of dying unexpectedly', 'Death is a temporary separation from family'. 'Dying is a tragedy', 'We have to do our best to prolong life by use of modem medical technology', 'I feel comfortable thinking of death and dying, 'Faith in God results in a freedom from fear of death'. The finding that religiosity was related to perception of death is consistent with other reports. And $40{\sim}50$ year old Protestant women had more positive perception of death than $20{\sim}30$ year old women. Conclusion : The findings indicated an importance of considering the age and religiosity when we educate the hospice volunteers. And that will be a important basic-data to develope program for hospice volunteers.

Background: The glycemic index (GI) indicates the rise in blood glucose caused by carbohydrate-containing foods. In Korea, there have been few studies on the understanding adults have of GI. Thus, this study investigated differences GI knowledge among the korean adults. Methods: A questionnaire on the perspective of GI and experience in GI education, participational intent to learn, general knowledge level, and dietary practice was conducted among those living in agricultural areas. Respondents were visitors to the health promotion center of a university hospital. Results: When asked about the GI familiarity, the standard of education, the relationships between diseases and GI, the diabetes group was better able to answer correctly than the other groups. However, the diabetes group showed either no difference or less correct responses for general knowledge of GI. With respect to their usual consideration and low GI dietary practice, the diabetes group provided higher responses than the other groups. On the whole, the diabetes group was better than the other groups for GI relative factor but none of the groups showed high levels for perspective, education, dietary practice of GI. Conclusions: The groups other than the diabetes group had a low perspective of GI, a lack of correct knowledge of GI, and did not follow a proper diet without considering GI. Even in the diabetes group the perspective, knowledge, and proper dietary practices were not adequate. Accordingly, further education of GI is necessary for diabetic patients, patients with chronic diseases and also people without diseases.

International marriage migrants from developing to developed countries are to seek a better economic condition. There are only a few empirical research on comparing and analyzing economic condition of marriage migrants before and after marriage. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the cognition on the change of economic condition before and after marriage and the socio-economic characteristics of Vietnamese international marriage female migrants. About 80% of interviewees of this study were motivated to marry Korean men for economic reasons; however, their household economic level was relatively low. Reflecting the household economic level, about half the Vietnamese women considered that there was very little difference in the economic condition before and after marriage; while, the percent of women considering the current economic condition as getting better were more than 4 times of that of women considering as becoming worse. The cognition on the economic condition change before and after marriage was positively correlated with the level of education attainment of husbands and themselves, the Korean language ability, state of occupation in Korea, the level of husband's income, involvement of management of living expenses and length of residence in Korea. The occupation in Vietnam and the state of remittance were not significantly related to the cognition on the economic condition change before and after marriage. Vietnamese marriage female migrants were highly motivated to have a job out of home to improve the economic condition of their own family and natal family. Concreted alternative programs should be made to help those women to work out of home.
This study analyzes the depictions of scientists and teachers' thoughts on the 2015 revised elementary school science authorized 3rd-4th grade textbooks from the perspective of gender equality, and suggest improvements for the 2015 elementary school science authorized 5th-6th grade textbooks as well as a 2022 revised elementary school science curriculum. The data consist of representations of scientists found in seven elementary science textbooks provided to 3rd- and 4th-grade students in 2022 as well as in-depth interviews conducted with three elementary school teachers and responses from 32 teachers in Gyeonggi-do. Of the 23 scientists depicted in the textbooks, three (13.0%) are female and 10 (43.5%) worked in the inquiry domain, which was the largest group. When the teachers were asked about their perceptions of the gender ratio of scientists in the textbooks, their answers revealed that they had lower perceptions of female scientists compared to male scientists; moreover, they had no or very little teaching experience concerning female scientists. Furthermore, the teachers' thoughts on improving the gender ratio of scientists depicted in the textbooks differed considerably by the teachers' gender. Based on these findings, it was concluded that during the process of producing textbooks, writers and members of society need to agree on the gender ratio of scientists to be represented, and a social consensus is needed to identify and introduce the achievements of previously unknown female scientists towards gender equality.

This study analyzed students' discourse and learning to investigate the impact of using Google Docs in science classes. The researcher, who is also a science teacher, conducted classes for 49 second-year middle school students. The classes included one using Google Docs and another using traditional paper worksheets covering identical content. Students' discourse collected from each class was compared and analyzed using Epistemic Network Analysis (ENA). The findings indicated that in the class using Google Docs, the proportion of discourse related to task was higher compared to the traditional class. More specifically, discourse regarding taking and uploading photos was prominent. However, such discourse did not lead to peer learning as intended by the teacher. An analysis based on achievement levels revealed that the class utilizing Google Docs had a relatively higher proportion of discourse from lower-achieving students. Additionally, differences were observed in the types of utterances and connection structures between the higher and lower-achieving students. The higher-achieving students took a leading role in providing suggestions and explanations, while the lower-achieving students played a role in transcribing them, with this tendency being more pronounced in the class using Google Docs. Lastly, students' changes in perception regarding the cause of static electricity were visualized using ENA. Based on the research findings, this study proposes strategies to enhance collaborative learning using Google Docs, including the use of open-ended problems to allow diverse opinions and outputs, and exploring the potential use of ENA to assess the learning effects of conceptual learning.

The status of health behaviors was surveyed in the random sample of 824 farmers (men 318, women 506) aged 40 years and older in Ulju-Gun, Kyungsangnam-Do. The data were collected by personal interview using structured questionnaire. The prevalence of individual health practices by sex(men/women) was 44.4%/45.0% in sleeping 7 or 8 hours; 92.7%/89.9% in eating breakfast almost every day; 82.7%/83.8% in eating between meals rarely or once in a while; 40.6%/88.1% in no drinking; 37.4%/86.6% in no smoking; 4.7%/5.6% in doing physical exercise regularly; 89.0%/80.0% in maintaining desirable weight for height (body mass index<25kg/$m^2$); 3.9%/23.2% in doing these health practices six or more The level of practicing health behaviors and perceiving their own health status was lower than the data from the residents in Pusan City. Therefore it could be expected to improve the health status of the residents in rural are through the effort to make them taking more interest in practicing health behaviors.
This study was conducted to establish the effects of subjective body-forming perception on weight-controlling behavior and weight loss, and to suggest the need for proper information and education. Using the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in the 6th period (2013-2015), 6,238 women aged 19 and over who have a body mass index of $18.5-25kg/m^2$ were analyzed. As a result, the higher the level of education and income level, the higher they were perceived to be obese, the more they chose to lose exercise and diet in order to lose weight across the board. The weight loss effort rate was higher in the obese body type recognition group, but the body weight type was the highest in the one year body weight change group (p < .001). As a result, subjective perception of body shape affected not only weight control behavior but also weight change (p < .001). Accordingly, it is necessary to have a systematic education on healthy weight-controlling behaviors, proper body image, and healthy body type recognition.
Existing Speech feature extracting method in speech Signal, there are incorrect recognition rates due to incorrect speech which is not clear threshold value. In this article, the modeling method for improving speech recognition performance that combines the feature extraction for speech and silence characteristics normalized to the non-speech. The proposed method is minimized the noise affect, and speech recognition model are convergence of speech signal feature extraction to each speech frame and the silence feature normalization. Also, this method create the original speech signal with energy spectrum similar to entropy, therefore speech noise effects are to receive less of the noise. the performance values are improved in signal to noise ration by the silence feature normalization. We fixed speech and non speech classification standard value in cepstrum For th Performance analysis of the method presented in this paper is showed by comparing the results with CHMM HMM, the recognition rate was improved 2.7%p in the speech dependent and advanced 0.7%p in the speech independent.
One of the important factors for the effective implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in mathematics education is the perceptions of the teachers who adopt it. This study surveyed 161 elementary school teachers and 157 secondary mathematics teachers on their perceptions of using AI in mathematics education, grouped into four categories: attitude toward using AI, AI for teaching mathematics, AI for learning mathematics, and AI for assessing mathematics. The findings showed that teachers were most positive about using AI for teaching and learning mathematics, whereas their attitudes towards using AI were less favorable. In addition, elementary school teachers demonstrated a higher positive response rate across all categories compared to secondary mathematics teachers, who exhibited more neutral perceptions. Based on the results, we discussed the pedagogical implications for teachers to effectively use AI in mathematics education.
Purpose: This study examined the factors related to skipping breakfast in high school girls. Methods: A survey of a total of 581 high school girls residing in Incheon was conducted. The subjects were classified into 2 groups according to the breakfast frequency: "breakfast skipping" group (eating breakfast ≤ 2 times/week, n = 250) and "breakfast eating" group (eating breakfast ≥ 3 times/week, n = 331). This study compared the general characteristics, lifestyles, interest in weight control and beauty care, food habits, the reasons and symptoms of skipping breakfast, as well as the attitude toward breakfast between the 2 groups. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 16.5 years old. Approximately, 33.9%, 33.6%, and 32.5% of the subjects were in first grade, second grade, and third grade, respectively, with no significant difference between the 2 groups. The breakfast skipping group showed a high interest in weight control, and beauty care than the breakfast eating group. The breakfast skipping group consumed more afternoon snacks and late-night snacks, and ate dinner irregularly. Although the breakfast skipping group experienced the negative effects of skipping breakfast, they showed low recognition for the importance or role of breakfast. The most common reason for skipping breakfast was lack of time, which appears to be related to the late wake-up time and the time spent on make-up or beauty-care. Conclusion: Skipping breakfast by high school girls was related to a high interest in beauty care, irregular meals and low attitude toward the importance of breakfast for health and nutrition. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct nutrition education to change the perceptions and attitudes of female adolescents regarding the importance of breakfast by recognizing that breakfast can affect not only balanced nutrition and health, but also healthy physical beauty.
