Implementation of an Instant Messenger Supporting Human-Human and Human-Thing Communication (사람-사람, 사람-사물의 대화를 지원하는 인스턴트 메신저 구현)

  • This paper is about the implementation of MyTalk, an instant messaging system, which supports human-human and human-thing communication. It consists of agents which are representatives of communication entities, and agent windows for user interfaces. Users can communicate with their buddies, and monitor and control remote "things" and devices with MyTalk. We also introduce the concept of agent window, which provides the most suitable GUIs (text, form, graph etc) for communication. Currently, MyTalk supports ordering goods, controlling devices like printers, monitoring sensors, managing applications, and real-time talk. Furthermore, we can extend it to application platform for remote monitoring, remote controlling, and real time cooperation.

  • 일상 생활에서의 대화 또는 컴퓨터를 매개로 이루어지는 대화에서 자기노출은 서로에 대한 개인적인 정보를 공유하여 친밀한 관계를 유지하기 위한 과정이다. 자기노출에서의 개인적인 정보는 생각 및 경험을 비롯하여 감정 등을 의미하는데, 감정은 특히 대화 분위기 형성 및 원활한 대화 진행을 위한 효과적인 의사소통수단으로 작용한다. 대화 시의 감정노출은 대화 상대방(노출 대상)과 감정표현의 대상(표현 대상)에 따라 표현의 실제강도와 노출의 정도가 달라지게 된다. 본 연구에서는 인터넷을 통해 대화를 주고 받거나 자료를 전송할 수 있는 인스턴트 메신저를 통하여 이루어진 대화에서 노출 대상과 표현 대상을 고려하여 대화참여자의 감정상태를 파악한다. 이를 위한 사전조사로 드라마 스크립트 상의 등장인물들의 감정표현 패턴을 분석하고 이를 활용하여 노출 대상이 각각 다른 대화문장에서 통사 및 의미 분석 과정을 거쳐 표현 대상에 따른 대화참여자의 감정상태를 파악하고, 대화참여자가 자신의 감정을 관찰할 수 있는 인터페이스를 제공한다.

Development of Network Camera-based Instant Messenger (네트워크 카메라 기반 인스턴트 메신저의 개발에 대한 연구)

  • PC camera-based instant messenger have problems of video image break/delay and noise. The reason is caused by a composed problem that PC Camera is belong to the connected PC and operating in the PC. This research suggests an instant messenger that uses network camera connected to LAN instead of PC camera. Therefore, the instant messenger has a component that the camera is separated from PC. This research designs sequence diagram, video calls flow chart, and graphic user interface of the instant messenger. The instant messenger based on network camera provides high quality video calls service and makes it possible to call from a special remote site with real-time video image.

  • 이 논문은 한-영 대화체 번역 시스템에서 영형 대명사 해소를 위한 새로운 방법론을 제시하였다. 영형 대명사는 문맥, 상황, 세상 지식으로부터 추론될 수 있는 문장에서 생략된 요소이다. 이 논문은 특히 주어-대명사 생략 현상에 대해 다루고 있는데, 그 이유는 드라마 대본이나 인스턴트 메신저 채팅과 같은 한국어 대화체에서는 매우 일반적인 현상이기 때문이다. 이 논문에서 우리는 많은 양의 지식을 요구하지 않는 간단한 방법론을 제시하였다. 평가결과 우리의 방법은 0.79의 F-measure 스코어를 달성하였고, 전체번역률의 측면에서는 약 4.1% 정도의 향상효과가 있었다.

A Study of the Factors Affecting Communication Actions Using Instant Messenger in Organizations (조직에서 인스턴트 메신저를 이용한 의사소통에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • To examine the role IM plays, We focus on the factors that promote or hinder communication within a Korean organization when instant messenger is used. These factors were examined through two research questions. To understand these issues, a survey consisting of 33 categories was given to government and corporate office workers in Seoul, Korea. The survey results showed that Instant Messenger is recognized as a powerful communication tool in official organizations, but is only used effectively within groups or generations that do not follow the hierarchical relationships characterized by Confucian values. The results of this study fill a gap in our understanding of the important role of IM use in organizational effectiveness and may prove useful when developing tools and strategies to help promote communication within organizations using information technology media.

The Role of Motives, Flow, and Social Influence in Attitude and Purchase Intention to Emoticons (이모티콘 사용동기, 플로우, 사회적 영향력이 이모티콘 사용태도 및 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • In recent year, graphic emoticons in MIM(Mobile Instant Messenger) play an important role not as a valuable communication methods, but as main business model for MIM service providers. Although the graphic emoticons in MIM are regarded as a commercial product, there has been little systematic research reflecting consumers' perspectives. In order to fill this theoretical and practice gap, the study is designed to explore the structural relationships among emoticon use motives, attitude, and purchasing intention to emoticons in context of MIM. The results showed that emoticon use motives in MIM were composed of two main factors, perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment. And we also verified that both perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment positively impact flow in communication with using emoticons and social influence. Lastly, flow and social influence were positively related to attitude toward using emoticons and attitude also was related to purchase intention to emoticons in MIM, positively. However, flow and social influence did not have a positive influence on purchase intention to emoticons directly. The implications and limitations of this study are also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest areas for improvement of KakaoTalk. KakaoTalk is used by everyone in Korea, and even elementary school students have been using it a lot recently. Therefore, to help parents feel safe about their children using KakaoTalk, and to ensure that children are not worried about their parents when using them, I would like to examine each user's experience to pinpoint the problem. As a method of study, a survey and interview was conducted on eight parents and eight children using KakaoTalk. Through this, the parents could not trust KakaoTalk in terms of reliability when they saw their children using KakaoTalk. Based on this research, we hope to improve KakaoTalk through further research so that parents and children can use Kakao Talk safely.

  • Instant Messenger is a communication tool which allows instant real-time connection between parties through Internet Compared to the most popular Internet communication tool. email. the messenger allows people to check network presence of other parties and to connect in real time among multiple parties. Mostly due to the convenience it provides. use of instant messengers has increased tremendously not only for personal purpose but also for business purpose. However. firms are agonizing about the real impact of instant messenger usage among employees. whether the impact is positive or negative in terms of the productivity, Applying the theory of reasoned action (TRA) and technology acceptance model (TAM). this study sets UP perceived ease of use. perceived usefulness and cultural orientation of individuals as antecedents of adoption and use of the messenger application, Also. the impacts of messenger usage are measured as task productivity and intimacy among colleagues. This study presents several findings about the instant messenger, First. perceived ease of use. and usefulness play important roles in raising the adoption level of instant messenger. Also. culture propensity also maintains strong influence towards the actual usage of the messenger. Among cultural variables. innovativeness, supportiveness and outcome orientation reveal strong positive impacts on adoption and use of the messenger. On the dependent side. use of instant messenger seems to have a strong direct impact on task productivity as well as indirect impact through intimacy. Implications are discussed.

  • A software montage means information that can be extracted quickly from software and includes inherent characteristics. If a montage is made from well-known programs, we can filter candidates of similar programs among the group of programs based on the montage. In this paper, we suggest software montages based on two characteristics: API calls and strings. To evaluate the proposed montages, we performed experiments to filter candidates of some similar programs to instant messenger programs. From the experiments, we confirmed that the proposed montages can be used as a forensic tool that filters a group of similar programs even when their functions are not known in advance.

  • Distributing information on the internet is common in our daily life. In the past, e-mail has been the primary choice of exchanging information. But instant messengers are gaining popularity abroad and domestically because of their immediate responses. Instant messaging has become the fastest growing communication technology in recent years. Instant messaging is effectively a chat room of two people. Users that have accounts with the same provider are able to send messages via computer in real time. Instant messaging has exploded into the business world as companies utilize the technology for everything from interoffice communication to client/customer communication. In this paper, we propose a system design for effective data collection and statistical analysis.
