우리 나라의 도서관사업은 본협회가 실질적으로 창립되어 활동하기 시작한 1956년부터라고 볼 수 있겠다. 그동안 모든 분야의 변화 및 발전과 더불어 우리 도서관도 괄목할 만큼 개선되고 발전되었다. 특히 최근에 이르러서는 근대화의 촉진으로 말미암아 정보산업사회가 되어 도서관봉사의 필요성은 날로 증대되고 있다. 이에 대처하기 위한 도서관운영기법이 선진외국의 경우 놀라우리만큼 현대화되었고, 우리도 나름대로 우리의 현실에 맞는 도서관발전을 도모키 위하여 끊임 없는 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이제 우리 도서관계도 초창기적 발전 단계를 벗어난 시점에 있으며, 이에 따라서 앞으로 전체도서관발전방향이 제시되고, 이에 의하여 계획적인 도서관 발전을 추진할 필요성이 대두되어 본협회에서는 이 문제를 이미 지난 1975년부터 검토하기 시작하였고, 1978년에는 이를 구체화시켜 긴 안목에 선 도서관발전계획서를 작성키로 하여 그 기초자료를 준비하기에 이르렀다. 이 연구논문은 이러한 취지에서 1978년 본협회가 이봉순 부회장에게 의뢰하여 완성된 것이다. 이봉순 부회장은 협회의 의뢰를 받고 구자영(이대교수), 이효정(중대교수), 임명순(중대교수)등 연구팀을 구성하여 아산사회복지사업재단의 연구비를 받아 진행하게 되었다. 이 논문은 이미 창립 20주년 이화여자대학교 도서관학과 기념논문집(1979)에 발표된 것으로 199면에 달하는 장편의 연구논문이다. 이번에 본 월보에 이를 요약하여 게재하는 것은 도서관발전책에 관한 귀중한 연구자료를 널리 알림으로써 앞으로 확정될 우리 나라 도서관발전계획서 작성에 도움을 주고자 하는 것이다. 이상적이고 바람직한 훌륭한 한국도서관발전계획서가 작성될 수 있도록 여러분들의 적극적인 관심과 참여를 바라며, 새로운 의견이나 자료가 있으면 다수 제안하여 주시기 바란다.

Such future-oriented institutions that put together the functions of a library, archive, and museum are being actively introduced overseas recently and are called LAM, GLAM, and media tech. In South Korea, the term larchiveum, combining library, archive, and museum, is widely used. Therefore, this study explores a case study followed to determine larchiveums in service both home and abroad. The researcher then conducted an interview with librarians, archivists, and curators working for the larchiveums selected as the South Korean cases for the study to understand the meaning of a larchiveum. Additional interviews were conducted with five users that visited a larchiveum in the nation and uploaded posts on a social media platform to understand their perceptions of a larchiveum and problems with the purpose, functions, and services of it. Based on the analysis results, the study proposes vitalization plans for the management of a larchiveum in three aspects: improving the internal and external awareness, securing budgets and manpower for space enhancement and service, and reinforcing the integrated management of a larchiveum via a devoted organization.

Due to the challenging physical access of data and the abstraction of the old map, the study of the old map, which is owned by overseas collections, is limited. Therefore, it is necessary to include more detailed and professional characteristics in the bibliography or description elements, and to provide information that is helpful for the study of the old map through many ways. In this study, the elements of the old map based upon the system of the Haejushinbon were analyzed and added to the description elements of the old map for studying the Korean old map system. Fifty six description elements in 8 areas from the analysis were applied to 「Yeongyeondo」 in the French National Library, a major old map located overseas that was not well known in Korea. In conclusion, additional description elements of the old map were proposed to enhance accessibility and utilization of old map research.

The purpose of this study was to examine the reason and value system of the elderly people on the public library use in Korea. For the purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted for elderly aged over 60, from 15 public libraries in Seoul from October 29 to October 10, 2018, and 306 valid responses collected were analyzed. The value system is based on the Means-end Chain (MEC) Theory, and the linkage between the attributes, consequences, and values of public library use is figured out as a value hierarchy. As a result, the most frequently revealed value system was 'reads or borrows books (attribute) ${\rightarrow}$ gets new knowledge (consequence) ${\rightarrow}$ satisfies oneself (value).' For the value reached by using the public library, both groups answered that their satisfaction, achievement, fun, pleasure, and vitality. However, the elderly aged 65 and over additionally felt that public libraries are good for their mental / physical health. The results showed that the elderly people using the public library feels the traditional functions of the public library as the main attribute, and the public library could provide the elderly people with contribution to the lively old age.

Since the recent financial crisis in universities has caused the decrease of academic library budget, the resource sharing has been considered by utilizing inter-library loan (ILL) data for solving the financial deficit. This study aims to identify the collection profiles of western monographs' ILL data among 4-year academic libraries. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, this study analyzes ILL data from 2011 to 2017 using the bibliographic data and ILL transactions of the KERIS union catalog. The findings of the study show that the western monographs was significantly provided by large-scale academic libraries in 2011, however, the extent of major regions expanded, and the number of influential institutions rose in 2016. Second, in 2012, the influence in the ILL network increased in the quantity of western monographs holdings and the proportion of common collections. On the other hand, in 2016, it was also shown that the influence in terms of provision in the ILL network increased in the proportion of unique collections. Lastly, the ILL participating academic libraries were classified into six clusters by a hierarchical clustering analysis of holdings and ILL indexes.

The purpose of this study is to identify (1) the attitudes of seniors toward library digitalization, (2) factors that lead them to use digital information in libraries, and (3) factors that hinder or prevent them from using digital information in libraries. As a result of conducting 1:1 in-depth interviews with 20 senior users of the National Library of Korea, the majority of seniors had a favorable attitude toward library digitalization. 'Librarian' and 'vision and font size' were found to be the most important factors for seniors' use of digital information. These two factors are factors that enable the use of digital information, but they are also factors that prevent or hinder the use of digital information. In addition, factors for the use of digital information include 'characteristics of the content' and 'convenience', factors for non-use include 'attitude and psychological factors' and 'physical properties of books', and hindering factors include 'website usability issues'.

Based on the Everyday Information Seeking Behavior Theory, this study investigates information activities and library experience of 66 elderly or people with disabilities in Autonomous District A. In addition, this study analyzes contextual circumstances of daily information activities through in-depth interviews with a subset of 11 people. Although community welfare centers provide basic welfare, the elderly and people with disabilities seek to learn and socialize in cultural welfare centers, particularly in libraries. This study shows that libraries can fulfill their top three of Maslow's hierarchy of needs: Self-Actualization, Esteem, and Love and Belonging. Specifically, digital literacy education has been identified to be highly demanded. They seek to distinguish correct online information and to socialize using digital technologies in this contactless society. This study proposes a detailed plan for public libraries to offer cultural and information welfare in order to reduce the information gap within the local communities.

The purpose of this study is to identify the current status of institutional research data repositories in the field of science and technology and to suggest ways to activate them. The study conducted literature research, case analysis, and interviews with repository managers both domestically and internationally. The study suggested strategies with a focus on establishing repository regulations and policies, improving awareness of research data sharing, and enhancing research data quality management. First, in terms of repository regulations and policy establishment, it was considered necessary to promote the status of the National R&D Information Processing Standards, a regulation related to research data, and clarify repository basis regulations. Second, to enhance awareness of research data sharing, the need for comprehensive research data education and the identification of exemplary cases were suggested. Third, in terms of strengthening research data quality management, the need for preparation for interaction between researchers-persons in charge-committees, standardization work, and long-term preservation was suggested.

Open Science Project, which enables users to access and utilize public research results in a digital format, is being actively promoted overseas, and American university libraries are interested in research support service. Among the three OECD implementation measures, 'capacity building' can be effectively prepared through librarians' research support services. Therefore, this study investigated the policy of research support service implemented in leading American 13 university libraries in preparation for the open science era focusing on the recent literatures and library websites. Based on the best cases of research support service of American university libraries, I analyzed the homepage of 19 domestic research universities' library focusing on scholarly communication service and suggested improvements. In Korea, open access service and management of research data are lacking in terms of experience and expertise. This study result can be used as a basic reference when establishing the research support service plan needed in the open science era in the university library and can contribute to the improvement of the research ability of domestic researchers by introducing internationally competitive research support services.

Librarians facing the new information environment need to actively cope with knowledge and skills, but librarians in outsourced public libraries are burdened with participation in external education due to concerns about work gaps or inadequate institutional support, making it difficult to continue their education. Therefore, in this study, in order to create an environment in which librarians can grow together, the current status of the activities of the learning community was checked and the effects were identified. An online survey was conducted from May 20 to 22, 2023, targeting librarians who had participated in learning community activities among librarians belonging to the Gangnam-gu Library, and 101 copies were distributed to collect 81 copies and use them as analysis data. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that librarians are satisfied with the activities of the learning community and have a high level of understanding and empathy for their necessity. Therefore, as a way to revitalize the learning community, we propose to form a culture that promotes collaboration among members, share visions and values for learning community activities, and provide institutional support.
