성층화된 사다리꼴 용기내에서의 이중확산유동에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Study on Double-Diffusive Convection in a Stratified Trapezoidal Enclosure)

  • Numerical simulation is made of a stably stratified salt-water solution due to lateral heating in an equilateral trapezoidal enclosure using boundary-fitted coordinate in grid generation. Results show four types of the global fluid pattern depending on the buoyancy ratio in the enclosure, i.e., unicell flow pattern for the low buoyancy ratio, layered flow pattern for the increasing buoyancy ratio, layered flow pattern with stagnant zone for the relatively high buoyancy ratio and stagnant flow pattern for the much higher buoyancy ratio.

  • Double-diffusive convection induced by simultaneously-imposed lateral temperature and concentration gradients in a rectangular enclosure with aspect retio, 2.0 has been studied experimentally for adiabatic and isothermal horizontal boundary conditions. Visual observations show two distinct flow structures depending on the buoyancy ratio. The unicell flow structure is observed for a lower buoyancy ratio while the layered flow structure appears for a higher buoyancy ratio. There exists an unstable flow regime between two buoyancy ratios.

  • An experimental study on a double-concentric diffusion flame(DDF) has been carried on in order to Investigate the characteristics of soot formation compared to a normal coflow diffusion flame(NDF). Laser extinction technique has been used for an ethylene($C_2H_4$) and air flame with various flow rates. Soot formation In the double-concentric diffusion flame was enhanced by the inner inverse diffusion flame due to the increase in flame temperature and also suppressed due to the nitrogen-dilution from the inner air. Soot concentration at the flame axis of DDF was higher than that of the NDF, mainly because of the increase of temperature by inner flame. However, the maximum soot volume fraction of DDF was lower than NDF at the outer side of the flame, mainly due to the effect of nitrogen-dilution from the inner air.

  • An experimental study has been conducted to investigate solidification of NH$_{4}$CI-H$_{2}$0 mixtures inside a vertical rectangular enclosure. Solidification process is visualized by the shadowgraph method. Emphasis is placed on the effect of solidification parameters such as the aspect ratio, cooling wall temperature and initial composition. The aspect ratio shows a dominant effect on the number and developing time of the double diffusive layers which reveals the relative strength of solutal convection to thermal convection. Similar flow pattern is observed when the concentration difference between interdendritic liquid and the pure liquid which drives solutal convection is the same regardless of the different cooling wall temperature and initial concentration.

  • Finite-difference analysis was conducted to study the natural convection of a stably stratified salt-water solution in an annulus due to lateral heating. The main purpose of this study is to examine in detail the multi-layered flow structure. Calculation was thus made for R $a_{\eta}$=2*10$^{5}$ and 6.5*10$^{5}$ . Formation of layered flow structure, merging process of layers, the corresponding temperature and concentration distributions, Nusselt number variations with time are examined. Numerical results show that in each layer, the temperature profile looks 'S`-shaped and the concentration profile is uniform due to the convective mixing. The formation of the roll and the layer is governed by natural convection due to the temperature gradient and the merging process of the layer by diffusion of the concentration.ation.

  • The primary objective of the paper is to obtain the basic information of the natural convection of a stratified with various parametric conditions related to rotating speed, temperature and concentration gradient. For the purpose of it, experiments are performed in a stably stratified salt-water solution with lateral heating in a stationary or rotating annulus. The experiment covers the ranges of Ar=2, Le=100, R $a_{\ta}$=2 10$^{5}$ and Ta=0, 10$^{5}$ - 2.5*10$^{8}$ . Many interesting flow phenomena are observed and rotation effects are examined. Particularly as Taylor number increases (rotation increases) at a given R $a_{\ta}$, the generation of rolls at hot wall is inhibited and the formation and merging process of layers are delayed.

  • Numerical investigation is made to study the effects of thermosolutal convection on the formation of macrosegregation in a Pb-Sn alloy solidification process in a two dimensional confined rectangluar mold. The basic equations are sovled using the Contrinum Model theory with the SIMPE algorithm during the solidification process. In addition, to track the liquid-solid interface with time variations, the moving boundary condition was adopted and moving irregular interface shapes were treated with the time-dependent, boundary-fitted coordinate system. As the temperature reduces from the liquidus to the solidus, the liquid concentration of Sn, the lighter constituent, increases. Then the buoyancy-driven flow due to temperature and liquid composition gradients occurs in the mushy region and forms the complicated macrosegregation maps. belated to this phenomena, effects on the macrosegregation formation depending on the cooling condition and gravity values are examined.

  • The time of the onset of double-diffusive convection in time-dependent, nonlinear concentration fields is investigated theoretically. The initially quiescent horizontal fluid layer with a uniform temperature gradient experiences a sudden concentration change from below, but its stable thermal stratification affects concentration effects in such way to invoke convective motion. The related stability analysis, including Soret effect, is conducted on the basis of the propagation theory. Under the linear stability theory the concentration penetration depth is used as a length scaling factor, and the similarity transform for the linearized perturbation equations. The newlly obtained stability equations are solved numerically. The resulting critical time to mark the onset of regular cells are obtained as a function of the thermal Rayleigh number, the solute Rayleigh number, and the Soret effect coefficient. For a certain value of the Soret effect coefficient, the stable thermal gradient promote double-diffusive convective motion.

  • 이동통신시스템에서 RNC의 MCP는 호 처리를 담당하는 부분으로, 신뢰도와 실시간성이 요구된다. MCP는 높은 견고성을 갖도록 구현되지만 다소간의 오류 율(Fault late)은 존재할 수밖에 없으므로 프로세서를 이중화하여 활성화된 프로세서가 장애를 일으키더라도 대기중인 프로세서가 연속적인 서비스를 제공할 수 있어야 한다. Warm standby sharing에 비하여 Hot standby sharing은 데이터 손실이 없고 오류 데이터가 확산되지 않는 등의 다수의 장점을 갖지만 동기화 문제로 인하여 이를 시스템에 실제로 구현하는 것은 어렵다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 동기화의 장점에 데이터 손실 및 거짓 데이터의 확산 문제를 개선 함으로서, 실제 구현의 용이성 및 성능 향상이라는 결과를 얻으려 하였다.

  • 액체추진제 추력기 인젝터로부터 발생하는 분무의 분열과 확산거동을 파악하기 위해 이중모드 위상 도플러속도계(DPDA)를 사용하여 분무액적의 준3차원적 공간분포를 계측하고 도시한다. 분무는 27.6 bar의 분사압력 조건에서 길이-직경비가 1.67인 노즐 오리피스로부터 지면에 수직으로 분사된다. 분무 액적의 수직 및 수평방향 평균속도, SMD, 그리고 체적유속은 분무의 상류/중심에서 하류/외곽으로 이동함에 따라 분무분열에 의해 그 크기가 감소한다. 분무특성 인자들의 대칭적 분포 경향에도 불구하고 그들의 절대값은 노즐 오리피스 중심축을 기준으로 대칭이 아니다.
