Depth-map Preprocessing Algorithm Using Two Step Boundary Detection for Boundary Noise Removal (경계 잡음 제거를 위한 2단계 경계 탐색 기반의 깊이지도 전처리 알고리즘)

  • The boundary noise in image syntheses using DIBR consists of noisy pixels that are separated from foreground objects into background region. It is generated mainly by edge misalignment between the reference image and depth map or blurred edge in the reference image. Since hole areas are generally filled with neighboring pixels, boundary noise adjacent to the hole is the main cause of quality degradation in synthesized images. To solve this problem, a new boundary noise removal algorithm using a preprocessing of the depth map is proposed in this paper. The most common way to eliminate boundary noise caused by boundary misalignment is to modify depth map so that the boundary of the depth map can be matched to that of the reference image. Most conventional methods, however, show poor performances of boundary detection especially in blurred edge, because they are based on a simple boundary search algorithm which exploits signal gradient. In the proposed method, a two-step hierarchical approach for boundary detection is adopted which enables effective boundary detection between the transition and background regions. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms conventional ones subjectively and objectively.

Corrosion mitigation of photovoltaic ribbon using a sacrificial anode (희생양극을 이용한 태양광 리본의 부식 저감)

  • Degradation is commonly observed in field-aged PV modules due to corrosion of the photovoltaic ribbon. The reduced performance is caused by a loss of fill factor due to the high series resistance in the PV ribbon. This study aimed to mitigate the degradation by corrosion using five sacrificial anodes - Al, Zn and their alloys - to identify the most effective material to mitigate the corrosion of the PV ribbon. The corrosion behavior of the five sacrificial anode materials were examined by open circuit potential measurements, potentiodynamic polarization tests, and galvanic current density and potential measurements using a zero resistance ammeter. Immersion tests for 120 hours were also conducted using materials and damp heat test tests were performed for 1500 hours using 4 cell mini modules. The Al-3Mg and Al-3Zn-1Mg sacrificial anodes had a low corrosion rate and reduced drop in power, making then suitable for long-term use.

  • Speech recognition, the problem of performance degradation is the difference between the model training and recognition environments. Silence features normalized using the method as a way to reduce the inconsistency of such an environment. Silence features normalized way of existing in the low signal-to-noise ratio. Increase the energy level of the silence interval for voice and non-voice classification accuracy due to the falling. There is a problem in the recognition performance is degraded. This paper proposed a robust speech detection method in noisy environments using a silence feature normalization and voice energy maximize. In the high signal-to-noise ratio for the proposed method was used to maximize the characteristics receive less characterized the effects of noise by the voice energy. Cepstral feature distribution of voice / non-voice characteristics in the low signal-to-noise ratio and improves the recognition performance. Result of the recognition experiment, recognition performance improved compared to the conventional method.

Reduction of Allergic Potential of Meju by Three Step Fermentation (3단계 발효에 의한 콩 알레르기성의 저하)

  • In this study we investigated the change in antigenicity and allergenicity of Meju, a traditional Korean soybean product, by fermentation via 3 different microorganisms. The steamed soybeans were fermented with Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis and/or Aspergillus oryzae and/or Bacillus subtilis. Proteins in soybean were degraded after fermentation. Antigenicity or allergenicity were analysed by immunoblotting and ELISA using soybean protein-specific polyclonal antibodies or soybean allergic patient sera. The best degradation was achieved by three step fermentation using nisin-producing Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis IFO12007, A. oryzae and B. subtilis. Allergenicity and antigenicity were also starkly reduced after three step fermentation. The three-step fermentation method developed in our lab suggests an excellent alternative to reduce the allergenicity of soybeans.

  • This paper presents a new scheme for fault detection and isolation in the satellite system. The purpose of this paper is to develop a fault detection, isolation and diagnosis algorithm based on the bank of interacting multiple model (IMM) filter for both total and partial faults in a satellite attitude control system (ACS). In this paper, IMM are utilized for detection and diagnosis of anticipated actuator faults in a satellite ACS. Other fault detection, isolation (FDI) schemes using conventional IMM are compared with the proposed FDI scheme. The FDI procedure is developed in two stages. In the first stage, 11 EKFs actuator fault models are designed to detect wherever actuator faults occur. In the second stage of the FDI scheme, two filters are designed to identify the fault type which is either the total or partial fault. An important feature of the proposed FDI scheme can decrease fault isolation time and figure out not only fault detection and isolation but also fault type identification.

OTFT 소자 성능 향상을 위한 고품질 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane 자기조립단분자막의 제작

  • OTFT소자는 각 박막계면간의 접촉성에 따라 그 성능이 좌우 된다는 것은 널리 알려진 사실이다. 즉 박막계면간의 접촉성 저하는 계면간의 결함을 형성하여 OTFT소자 성능을 저하시킨다. 이러한 결함을 고품질의 자기조립단분자막을 제작함으로써 박막계면간 결함을 최소화 할 수 있다. 이러한 고품질의 자기조립단분자막 형성은 박막계면간의 결함을 최소화 하기때문에 고성능OTFT소자 제작시 박막계면간 접촉성 향상에 효율적으로 적용할 수 있을것이다. 이 논문에서는 계면간의 접촉성 향상을 위해 실리콘 웨이퍼 위에 3-Aminoproplytriethoxtsilane과 용매인 무수톨루엔을 이용하여 고품질의 자기조립단분자막을 제작 하였으며 고품질을 자기조립단분자막 성장 조건을 찾기 위해 엄격한 수분조절 및 APS농도, 담근시간, 온도를 조절하여 각기 다른 조건의 샘플을 제작하였다. 또한 APS성장 분포를 알기위하여 접촉각 측정기를 이용하여 접촉각을 측정 하였고 AFM 이용하여 실리콘 웨이퍼에 생성된 박막의 균질도를 측정하였다. 그 결과 APS농도(33%) 24시간 $25^{\circ}C$, APS농도(33%) 24시간 $70^{\circ}C$, APS농도(33%) 72시간 $25^{\circ}C$, APS농도 (33%) 72시간 $70^{\circ}C$ 샘플이 기존에 알려진 APS 접촉각인 $19^{\circ}C{\sim}21^{\circ}C$ 접촉각이 나왔으며 AFM 이미지 또한 높은 균질도를 보였다. 이 결과 고품질의 APS단분자막은 농도와 시간 그리고 온도에 영향은 받으며 이렇게 완성된 단분자막은 높은 균질도를 가지게 된다. 현재 실험을 통해 얻어진 고품질의 자기조립단분자막 성장 조건을 이용하여 OTFT소자 제작하고 있으며 고품질의 자기조립단분자막 형성에 의해 결함을 최소화 하므로써 박막계면간 옴성결합을 형성하여 OTFT소자의 성능 향상이 기대되어 진다.

Fast Motion Estimation Algorithm Using Importance of Search Range and Adaptive Matching Criterion (탐색영역의 중요도와 적응적인 매칭기준을 이용한 고속 움직임 예측 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a fast motion estimation algorithm which is important in the performance of video encoding. Conventional fast motion estimation algorithms have serious problems of low prediction quality in some frames and still much computation. In the paper, we propose an algorithm that reduces unnecessary computations only, while keeping prediction quality almost similar to that of the full search. The proposed algorithm uses distribution of probability of motion vectors, divides search range into several groups according to its importance, and applies adaptive block matching criteria for each group of search range. The proposed algorithm takes only 3~5% in computational amount and has decreased prediction quality about 0~0.01dB compared with the fast full search algorithm.

  • In order to investigate the operation performance behaviors of the UAV's propulsion system to be operated long time in high altitude, the engine performance tests, which are simulated in the altitude engine test facility should be needed. If the test is performed in a existing altitude engine test facility, additional test apparatuses are required. Among them a proper design of the inlet and exhaust ducts that may directly affect the engine performance is very important. If the design is not adequate, the engine performance loss due to the flow behavior change and the pressure loss may be not similar to the real engine performance. In this work, firstly the engine inlet and exhaust ducts to be mounted to the existing altitude facility are modelled in 3D and its flow behaviors and pressure losses are analyzed using a commercial CFD tool, ANSYS's CFX, and the engine performance with the duct losses is calculated using the performance analysis program developed by C. Kong et al. Finally, the optimized inlet and exhaust ducts' configurations are proposed through the repeated analyses of various duct configurations.

Groundwater Analysis for Jun Stream Basin in Donghae City using MODFLOW (MODFLOW를 이용한 동해시 전천유역의 지하수분석)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the change of groundwater and its effect to hydraulic head or parameter sensitivity in order to predict the effect of a new groundwater well using MODFLOW. With the downstream area of the Jun stream basin in the Donghae city, two condition were simulated; (i) First simulation condition is to simulate natural steady-state and the groundwater heads for observation wells are calibrated. After the calibration, existing wells are simulated to find out the pure effect of the next simulation condition, (ii) Secondly, the design wells are planed and simulated for the solution of water shortage problem at Donghae city. As a result of the simulation, the maximum drawdown which is approximately 0.35m occurs in layer 1. This represents that there is no intrusion of salty water and the design plan is acceptable. Finally, the sensitivity analysis of each parameter in MODFLOW is accomplished. A Performance Analysis of Hybrid-DSE-MMA Adaptive Equalization Algorithm based on Adaptive Modulus and Adaptive Stepsize (Adaptive Modulus와 Adaptive Stepsize를 이용한 Hybrid-DSE-MMA 적응 등화 알고리즘의 성능 분석)

  • This paper relates with the Hybrid-DSE-MMA (Hybrid-Dithered Signed Error-MMA) that is possible to improving the equalization performance by using the adaptive modulus and adaptive stepsize in DSE-MMA adaptive equalizer. The DSE-MMA possible to improve the robustness performance to external noise of SE-MMA by using the sign after adding the dither signal for get the error signal in order to update the tap coefficient. But it has a drawback of performance degradation in convergence speed and residual isi by using the fixed modulus and fixed stepsize. In this paper, it was confirmed that this equalization performance degradation was improved by applying the adaptive modulus and stepsize in DSE-MMA propotional to the output power of equalizer by computer simulation. In order to compare the improved equalization performance to currently DSE-MMA, the recovered signal constellation that is the output of the equalizer, residual isi, Maximum Distortion, MSE and the SER were used as a performance index. As a result of computer simulation, the Hybrid-DSE-MMA improve the equalization performance in every index, but gives slower convergence speed compared to DSE-MMA.
