First, the factor analysis of the online paper motive statements yielded three interpretable factors : informativeness, convenience, economicalness. For online paper use habits, a similar factor analysis procedure resulted in three factors : active utilization, news seeking, information seeking. Informativeness motive and active utilization habit were strongly related, convenience motive and news seeking habit related. Online papers and newspapers were found to be in complementary relationship. Internet access and newspaper reading, active utilization and news seeking habits were significant predictors of online paper use. The result of this study showed online paper readers perceived interactive services online papers offered. and want to utilize those effectively.

  • Contingent self-esteem can be maintained by meeting the standards of social or introjected values. This study investigated whether social media-related contingent self-esteem was associated with depression in Instagram users; in a sample of 319 Instagram users, we examined the effect of contingent self-esteem on depression and the mediating effect of upward social comparison on this theorized relationship. The study findings indicated that higher contingent self-esteem predicted higher levels of depression for a week in Instagram users, which could be explained by the upward social comparisons made on this application, and showed that Instagram users with higher contingent self-esteem tended to compare themselves with other users they considered superior, thereby increasing their depression. This study provided evidence for the mechanism underlying the association between using social media and psychological well-being and indicated the vulnerability of contingent self-esteem within the social media context. Other implications and future research directions were also discussed.

Descriptive statistics, t-tests, and regression were used far statistical analysis. Results indicated that there were significant mean differences of purchase motive and consumer satisfaction between SISM and GISM consumers. Regression analysis showed that purchase motives had significant influence on consumer satisfaction for SISM and GISM consumers.

  • Social media which includes Facebook enable users to construct relationships and networks as well as sharing of information. By enlisting Facebook users as proxy, this paper attempted to analyze the different emotional states experienced by social media users, specifically to gauge what effect their usage motivation and usage pattern had on the ambivalence level of the users. The quantitative survey result revealed that usage duration or the time of day when Facebook was accessed had no relevant impact on one's ambivalence level. However, there was a direct correlation between frequency of Facebook usage and the ambivalence level. The more the user logged onto Facebook the more suppressed his or her expression became due to fear of giving negative impressions to others and also receiving their negative feedbacks, which then subsequently added to the user's ambivalence. People's main reasons for using Facebook were identified as "chatting," "communicating," "maintaining relationships," "relationship building," "networking," and "finding information about friends," but only "maintaining relationships," "communicating," and "networking" had observable effect on ambivalence. There were no noticeable differences among genders with regards to ambivalence and usage levels, but there was a marked difference based on the user's age. For example, people in their forties showed higher levels of ambivalence than those in their twenties. This may be attributed to anxiety they face as they use Facebook primarily to expand their networks and to maintain relationships. As such, it is surmised that their fatigue level from using social media will only increase. Meanwhile, Korean Facebook user's emotional manifestation tended to skew toward relation-involved ambivalence rather than the self-defensive type. This relation-involved ambivalence might be something that can actually help prevent damage to relationships by limiting excessive emotional expressions. In other words, such ambivalence by Facebook users may be a positive element in a user's social media interaction.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between motivation, stress and flow in bicycle race gambling. To accomplish this, data were collected from gambling users of a bicycle velodrome. A total of 347 samples were employed for analysis. The collected data were analyzed through multiple regression analysis. The results of the analysis were as follows. First, the level of flow increased as the motivation for participating in the contest increased. Second, the influence of the motivation to participate in the race on immersion showed that a higher motivation to participate in the race was associated with a higher level of stress. Third, verification of the motive for participating in the race and the mediated effect of immersion between stress revealed that immersion had a mediated effect on stress. Based on the results of these analyses, practical and policy implications were suggested. Accordingly, there is a need to identify the motivation for career participation in counseling of experienced gamblers. Moreover, it is important to establish a system to prevent excessive gambling flow.
