Non-rational tendency in contemporary floral art & design : a focus on the exploration of the subconsciousness (현대 화예디자인에서의 비이성 경향에 관한 연구 : 무의식 탐구경향을 중심으로)

  • Contemporary visual art is characterized by a systematic study of the irrational. This trend was largely a reaction to the rationality of Modernism, which felt out of fair in the post-industrial society. This new trend against Modernism is represented by Deconstructivism. However, the appeal of irrationality has a deeper root. In this article, we examine the historical roots0 of this interest in the irrational. In doing so, we focus tour attention on the effect of Freud's theory of the subconscious on the growth of Surrealism in modern art. In particular, we explore how this same tendency is reflected in modern. floral art & design. By doing so, we are able to relate the developments in floral art & design with the developments in other areas of modern art. Finally, we show that it is possible for floral art & design to be in the vanguard of contemporary art because of its unique characteristics.

Retention Behavior of the Phenols on the Binary and Ternary Mobile Phases in Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography (역상 액체크로마토그래피에 있어서 이성분과 삼성분 이동상에 대한 페놀류의 머무름 거동)

  • An extensive experimental survey on the retention behaviors of phenols in the binary solvent system such as methanol-water, acetonitrile-water and tetrahydrofuran-water as well as the ternary solvent system such as methanol-acetonitrile-water and methanol-tetrahydrofuran-water is presented. A linear equation, which describes the capacity factor as a function of the solvent composition in the mobile phase and is able to predict the retention behaviors of phenols, was obtained. The iso-eluotropic lines for the binary and ternary solvent system are based on the equal strength of the methanol-water solvent which shows an optimum separation of the phenols used. The specific effect of each solute in the binary solvent system appeared to be larger than those in the ternary system.

아직도 출판계 주변을 맴도는 일제 용어들

  • 인쇄 제판 제본 등 출판 전분야에 걸쳐서 일본말은 지금도 표준어처럼 쓰인다. 그런 용어를 모르면 아예 '초보자'로 무시당하기 일쑤다. 일본말인지도 모르면서 우리말로 착각하고 쓰는 용어도 적지 않다. 또 영어로 교육받은 지금의 세대들은 영어를 즐겨 사용함으로써 출판계 용어는 실로 '바벨탑'의 언어처럼 의사소통이 불가능할 정도다.

Fire Extinguishing Ability of Binary Gaseous Extinguishing Agents Evaluated by Cup Burner and Numerical Studies (이성분계 가스계소화약제 소화성능의 컵버너실험 및 이론적 고찰)

  • The search for a new fire-extinguishing agent with all the desirable properties of halon 1301 has not been successful. To study binary gaseous extinguishing agents instead, one has to determine the extinguishing concentrations for several compositions of a given chemical in an inert gas. This process is expensive and time consuming. The fire suppression efficiencies of gas mixtures of HFC 125 and HFC 227ea with nitrogen as total flooding agents were studied by cup burner method. It was shown that addition of small amounts of those extinguishants to nitrogen can enhance the suppression effectiveness of the inert gas. As expected, the degree of synergism was highest at low concentrations of the chemical. For each binary system, extinguishing concentrations of the pure compounds and one binary data were used to predict the extinguishing concentrations for the entire range of binary composition. The predicted values were very close to experimental data.
