A Study on Evaluation of Plan to Improve Cycling Environment (자전거 주행환경 개선방안의 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, with the increase of the interest to global environmental problems, bicycle has been recognized as the most environmentally friendly transportation mode. To promote cycling, it is necessary to ensure road space that bicycle can keep running safely and smoothly. This paper aims to evaluate the district with rearranged road space and network, given priority to bicycle, comparing the traditional district which are given priority to car from viewpoints of environment, safety and accessibility. As evaluation indicators, the carbon dioxide emission on the environment. the number of collision between car and bicycle on safety and an accumulated frequency measure on accessibility were used. As the result, it was clarified that bicycle road measures to create bicycle road by reallocation of road space and form bicycle exclusive network were effective.

An Experimental Study on the Time-Dependent Deformation of the Alkali Activated Slag Concrete (알칼리 활성 슬래그 콘크리트의 시간의존적 변형에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The alternative material for cement has been attracting attention in construction projects. Especially, the alkali activated slag(hereafter, AAS) concrete is able to use for a structural vertical member because of 40MPa of compressive strength, However, the research about time-dependent deformation such as creep which is important to strength member is insufficient. Therefore, in this study, experiments were performed with respect to time-dependent deformation including the drying shrinkage and creep deformation of AAS concrete. The creep deformed ratio of AAS concrete was more than OPC concrete by approximately 4.3% and the dry shrinkage deformation of AAS concrete was more than OPC concrete by approximately 69%. The large amount of sodium silicate, alkali activator, is added causing temperature crack than promoted drying and drying creep which is confirmed by water ration test and SEM.

  • Due to the global warming, the restriction for emitting the green-house gas is strengthened and a main ingredient of the green-house gas is carbon dioxide ($CO_2$). In order to reduce the amount of $CO_2$, the low-carbon and long-life of the construction and the construction materials management system based on the radio frequency identification (RFID) technique have been actively studied in the construction field. The conventional construction management system based on RFID only focuses on the study and experiment for managing the used amount and location of the construction materials in the construction stage, but it does not consider the study for the status management system for the recycling materials in the construction stage or the building deactivation. In this paper, we propose the effective RFID system for managing the status of the construction materials during the construction stage or the building deactivation. Employing RFID with the frequency of 900MHz, the proposed system consists of the reader unit, communication unit, and memory unit, and its tags are attached in the surface or inside of the construction materials.

  • 전 세계적으로 이산화탄소 배출량 저잠을 위해 모든 산업분야에서 연구개발의 중점을 두고 있다. 그의 일환으로 자동차 산업에서는 EU규제에 따라 리사이클이 가능한 소재 개발이 요구되고 있으며, 그중 많은 양이 사용되고 있는 PU Foam의 대체 재료 개발이 시급한 실정이다. 기존 자동차의 흡음재로 주로 사용되고 있는 PU Foam 소재는 통기성이 부족할 뿐만 아니라 연소 시 인체에 유해한 HCN Gas를 발생시키고, 한번 성형된 부품은 Recycle 및 Re-Use가 불가능하다는 단점이 있다. 또한 장시간 사용시 황변 발생과 악취가 발생하는 등으로 최근 대두되고 있는 자동차 내장재 감성품질 향상 측면에 한계를 나타내고 있다. 이러한 Low Melting 성능을 가지는 PET 부직포 소재의 한계를 극복하기 위하여 저융점 성능의 Elastic Fiber의 개발과 함께 고탄성 복합부직포 소재의 개발을 통해 높은 변형률과 우수한 복원력을 나타내는 환경친화형 열가소성 탄성체(Thermoplastic Elastomer) 개발을 추진하고 있다. 고탄성 복합부직포는 자동차 내장재 성형 시 열을 가하더라도 Elastomer 자체의 탄성 발현을 통해 초기의 Bulky성을 유지할 수 있으며, Recycle 및 Re-use가 가능하여 환경 친화적인 측면에서도 큰 장점을 갖고 있다. 자동차용 흡음 내장재뿐만 아니라 각종 수송용 차량의 경량화 및 쾌적성 향상을 위한 용도로써 자동차 내장용 PU Foam의 57% 이상을 차지하고 있는 Seat Cushion재 등의 대체가 가능하며, 다양한 산업분야에서 사용되고 있는 PU Foam의 대체로 다양한 용도 전개가 가능할 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구에서는 PU Foam의 대체 재료로 각광받고 있는 Elastic PET를 개발하여 자동차 내장재로의 적용 가능성을 검토하였다.

Potential Impacts and Energy Cost of Grid-Connected Plug-in Electric Vehicles (전력망 충전식 전기자동차의 영향 및 에너지비용)

  • Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle(PHEV) is a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) with more added battery capacity that can be recharged from the electric power grid. Plug-in battery electric vehicle(PBEV) is a pure electric vehicle that uses only electric motor using electricity from battery that recharged from the power grid. PHEV and PBEV requires recharging of batteries in the vehicles from electric power grid. Recently, PHEVs and PBEV are being developed around the world. It is important to understand how these electric vehicles affect power demands and carbon dioxide emissions. From vehicle customer viewpoint, running energy cost will be imporatnt factor to consider. This paper analyzes the potential impacts of PHEVs and PBEVs on electric power demand, and associated CO2 emissions in 2020 with an projection that the vehicles will be penetrated with 10% market share. Energy costs for the vehicles are also calculated and compared with the conventional combustion vehicle.

Analysis on Correlation between CO2 Emissions and Production, Acreage of Crops using Environmental Input-Output Analysis (환경산업연관분석을 이용한 농작물의 이산화탄소 배출량 변화와 생산량, 재배면적의 상관성 분석)

  • South Korea is under pressure to reduce $CO_2$ emissions because of expanding request for reducing $CO_2$ emissions. In many industry sectors, $CO_2$ emissions were analyzed to reduce $CO_2$ emissions. But little effort in researching agricultural sector has been undertaken because it is recognized as environmentally friendly industry. The object of this research is to estimate $CO_2$ emissions of crops and analysis on correlation between $CO_2$ emissions and production, acreage of crops. In this study, environmental input-output analysis was used to estimate $CO_2$ emissions of agricultural sector and spearman correlation coefficient was used to analysis on correlation between $CO_2$ emissions and statics like production and acreage. As a result, rice, barley, pulses and horticultural specialities had correlation with acreage and correlation coefficients of these crops were 0.800~0.933. Regression equations about $CO_2$ emissions and acreage of rice, barley, pulses and horticultural specialities was made and $R^2$ of these equations were 0.615~0.929. Using equations, $CO_2$ emissions of rice, barley, pulses and horticultural specialities can be estimated with acreage.

A Study on Flow Characteristics due to Dimension Variations of the Vertical Plate for Controlling the Ship Stern Flow (선미유동 제어용 수직판 제원 변화에 따른 유동특성 연구)

  • To cope with international regulations, such as Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) and so forth, and to enforce limitations on $CO_2$ emissions, green-ship technology to lower fuel consumption has been actively researched, and the development of an energy-saving device (ESD) is being pursued. In order to design an ESD for small and medium-sized domestic vessels, an analysis on flow characteristics has been performed in the present study. Through a model test and numerical analyses, the characteristics of flow around the stern bilge and bulb have been compared to improve wake quality and resistance performance. As a result of these comparisons and analyses, a vertical plate has been adopted,, as a new ESD. Design criteria for the proposed ESD are also suggested. By applying this new ESD, it is expected that the total resistance and average nominal wake can be reduced by 3.04 % and 18.8 %, respectively.

  • Heavy duty diesel engine has relatively small portion of whole vehicles due to long drive distance and large engine displacement, but largely influences atmosphere environment. City buses changed to CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) bus with Korea-Japan Worldcup. Heavy duty truck and intercity bus, however, were impossible to use CNG because those kinds of vehicles had long drive distance and CNG station was installed mainly at the around of the bus garage of city. Insulation container storing the natural gas as a liquid makes heavy duty truck and intercity bus possible to use the natural gas. Drive using diesel is possible where is hard to recharge the gas. With LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), the dependence on oil is largely decreased, PM (Particulate Matter) and NOx which is chronic disadvantage of diesel is remarkably reduced and finally $CO_2$, the representative green house gas, is reduced over 10%.

  • One-third of total energy and 50% of $CO_2$ emissions arise from construction phase. Because of this global amount of energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission, we must do our best to solve this problem. But our existing ways of meeting this problem has focused on the energy consumption saving of the construction and dwelling stage. On the other hand, we has been treated too lightly for handling the $CO_2$ emissions problem during the maintenance management and the demolition process so far,. In this paper, we quantitatively predicted and evaluated the environmental load in each construction step during all life cycle. And, we developed the environmental load assessment program for each construction step. And we proposed the reliable decision support model for objective and reliable environmental load assessment and reduction. This result must help the development of construction technology and low carbon & green growth.

Integrated Assessment for Social Impacts of National Energy and Electricity Generation Sources Using Radar Chart (방사형차트를 이용한 국가 에너지 및 전력 생산원의 사회적 영향 종합평가)

  • In the present work, for various energy and electricity generating systems to be compared in view of integrated social impacts, nuclear, coal-fired, heavy oil-fired, and LNG, and hydroelectricity systems are considered as electricity generating options. The following assessment factors are selected: economic effect, health effect, environmental effect, and benefit at the national level. As a preliminary study, these factors are represented as power generation cost, estimated mortality, Carbon Dioxide gas emission, and fuel supply stability, respectively. For integrated representation of a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, radar charts are introduced to facilitate a comparative recognition of estimates. In the near future, based on the estimates, a MCDM methodology for both qualitative and quantitative comparison will be developed.
