Asymmetric Threshold-Based Occupancy Map Correction for Efficient Coding of MPEG Immersive Video (MIV 의 효율적인 부호화를 위한 비대칭 임계값 기반 점유맵 보정)

  • MIV(MPEG Immersive Video)의 시험모델 TMIV 는 다시점의 비디오와 깊이(depth) 비디오를 입력 받아 시점 사이의 중복성을 제거한 후 남은 텍스처(texture)와 깊이로 텍스처 아틀라스(atlas)와 깊이 아틀라스를 각각 생성하고 이를 압축한다. 각 화소별 점유(occupancy) 정보는 깊이 아틀라스에 포함되어 압축되는데 압축 손실로 인한 점유맵 오류를 방지하기 위하여 임계값 T = 64 로 설정한 보호대역을 사용한다. 기존에 설정된 임계값을 낮추어 깊이 동적범위를 확대하면 보다 정확한 깊이값 표현으로 부호화 효율을 개선할 수 있지만 보호대역 축소로 점유맵 오류가 증가한다. 본 논문에서는 TMIV 의 부호화기와 보호화기에 비대칭 임계값을 사용하여 보호대역 축소로 인한 점유맵 오류를 보정하면서 보다 정확한 깊이 값 표현을 통하여 부호화 효율을 개선하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안기법은 깊이 동적범위 확대와 비대칭 임계값 기반의 점유맵 오류 보정을 통하여 CG 시퀀스에서 2.2% BD-rate 이득과 주관적 화질 개선을 보인다.

Design of the Feed Forward Controller in Digital Method to Improve Transient Characteristics for Dynamic Voltage Restorers (동적전압보상기의 과도특성을 개선하기 위한 디지털방식의 전향제어기 설계)

  • This paper discusses how to control the compensation voltages in dynamic voltage restorers (DVR). On analyzing the power circuit of a DVR system, control limitations and control targets are presented for the voltage compensation in DVRs. Based on the preceded power stage analysis, a novel controller for the compensation voltages of DVRs is proposed by a feed forward control scheme. This paper discusses also the time delay problems in the control system of DVRs. Digitally controlled DVR systems normally have control delay at amount of one sampling time of the control system and a half of the switching period of the DVR inverter. The control delay in digital controllers increases the dimension of the system transfer function one degree higher, which makes the control system more complicate and more unstable. This paper proposes a guide line to design the control gain, appropriate output filter parameters and inverter switching frequency for DVRs with digital controllers. Proposed theory is verified by an experimental DVR system with a full digital controller.

Speed Control of the BLDC Motor using the Disturbance Observer (외란 관측기를 이용한 BLDC 전동기의 속도제어)

  • In this paper, we propose a design method for speed controller, current control of a Brushless Direct Current(: BLDC) motor using disturbance rejection techniques. Disturbance assumes a back electromotive force occurring in the electrical system and the variation of the load acting on the rotary shaft from the outside of the motor. And it assumed to be constant during the time interval and the Luenberger's observer design. So that the error of the observer about the system status can converge to zero show how to set the appropriate gain. Further, to stabilize the whole system, and proposes a method for setting the appropriate PI gain control to improve the tracking performance. By applying the proposed controller to 120W BLDC motors were tested for the ability to follow the velocity and current reference. Since the simulation results of the steady state error is within 0.1%, we were able to show the usefulness of the tracking performance of the proposed controller.

  • The classic routing algorithms try to minimize the number of hops to reach a destination. In our DPC(Distributed Power Control) this hop-by-hop power level selection is also used to select the path guaranteeing low energy consumption. The main goal is to realize a dynamic protocol able to be aware of mobility and to automatically set security threshold in order to get the best performance in every situation. In conclusion, the simulation DPC has improved energy gain of the AMRIS routing algorithm at the narrow area, and ODMRP routing algorithm has improved energy gain at the wide area.

  • In this paper, We propose the fuzzy controller for the gain tuning of PID controller The proposed controller doesn't use the crisp output error and rule tables though with a fuzzy inference process in forward fuzzifier, New Fuzzy PID Controller assigns relations and ranges of two variables of PID gain parameters. These new gain parameters are calculated by the fuzzy inference with max-min ranges of Kp and Kd. The Ki parameter is computed automatically between Kp and Kd parameter Is calculated by Ziegler-Nickels tuning rules. Finally we experimented the propose controller by the hydraulic servo motor control system. We can obtained desired results through the good control characteristics.

  • In this paper, we proposed scheme that obtain diversity gain in the cooperative communication to mitigate, applied to the effects of fading in the vehicle communication. Relay used bus that can available in the city environment. In addition, we applied the double rayleigh fading environment so that can applied in real-environments. Therefore, proposed scheme through this paper applied to vehicle communication, user can acquire a high quality service and the operation efficiency of the network is improved. Finally, performance of the proposed protocol is analyzed in terms of bit error rate.

  • The design concept of diesel engines for sea-going ships has been directed to Low-speed/Long-Stroke type to improve the efficiencies of combustion and propelling. But time-delay inevitable at low speed gives much difficulties for governors to control the engine speed because they would be apt to go into unstable region especially when operating at low speed. The purpose of this paper is to study the problem of how the governor gain can be calculated dynamically in accordance with the valiance of engine speed to locate the engine still on the properly stable condition. In this study, the property of diesel engine was described as composed of combustion element including dead time and rotating element, and the ultimate gain for the speed control system to be located on the condition of stability limit was proposed based on the frequency characteristics. And the target gains with optimized stability also were proposed by giving proper margin to these ultimate conditions. The results were applied to a model system and the availability was confirmed to be satisfactory.

  • Parabolic offset antenna is widely used for wireless communication system. The general structure of parabolic offset antenna system is composed of supporting stand and RF devices under parabolic reflector. However sidelobe distortion in gain pattern is occurred by supporting stand and RF devices. Depending on position of subsidiary devices, angle of sidelobe distortion can be changed. In this paper we describe method for sidelobe distortion suppression using raytracing. We calculate 3D vector for sidelobe distortion suppression zone by raytracing method and compare when subsidiary device is in sidelobe distortion suppression zone or not. By comparison, we show method for parabolic antenna sidelobe distortion suppression.

  • In this paper, the wide-band CDMA transmitter for 2 GHz band is designed and implemented. The CC-OQPSK implemented as ASIC has better spectral and power efficiency than the conventional QPSK system because it has constant envelope characteristics. Good harmonics rejection characteristics and gain of 20 dB are shown on the intermediate frequency stage using double-conversion scheme. The output power of two-stage RF amplifier is +2l.14 dBm in 1.9 GHz band. It is confirmed that the electrical characteristics of the transmitter satisfy with required the specification of the wide-band CDMA transmitter for 2 GHz band.

  • This paper proposes embedded System of two wheeled inverted pendulum robot designed by model based design method, using MATLAB/SIMULINK and LEGO NXT Mindstorms. At first, stability and performance of controller is verified through modeling and simulation. After that direct conversion from simulation model to C code is carried and effectiveness of controller is experimentally verified. Two wheeled inverted pendulum robot has basic function about autonomous balancing control using principle of inverted pedulum and it is also possible to arrive at destination. In this paper, state feedback controller designed by quadratic optimal control method is used. And quadratic optimal control uses state feedback control gain K to minimize performance index function J. Because it is easy to find gain, this control method can be used in the controller of two wheeled inverted pendulum robot. This proposed robot system is experimentally verified with following performances - balancing control, disturbance rejection, remote control, line following and obstacle avoidance.
