The purpose of this study is to investigate high school students' buying attitudes toward school uniform brands according to clothing conformity orientation. For this research, a survey was carried out to 418 boy and girl students in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. The data analysis of this study was verified by descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability tests, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA with Duncan-test, and ${\chi}^2$-test. The results are as follows. First, high school students preferred and had strong intentions to buy school uniforms of famous leading brands although they were not satisfied with famous brands. Especially, respondents tended to have favorable attitudes toward sophisticated and luxurious designs of famous school uniform brands. Second, respondents who had a conformity to parents tended to follow parents' opinions by purchasing famous brand uniforms. The conformity group of mass media preferred famous brands, and acquired the information about uniforms from various mass media such as television or magazines. A peer conformity group also preferred leading brands. Based on results of this study, curriculum of home education department should consist of contents for inducing rational consumption of uniforms by considering students' inclination of conformity. In terms of marketing perspectives, school uniforms firms need to reinforce strategies to improve products' quality and value for money.
This paper is designed to suggest marketing strategies suitable for each classified group by subdividing high school students, the new-generation consumers, by clothes-shopping orientation at jean markets and by identifying the demographic characteristics and the purchasing behavior of each classified group. The subjects consist of 644 high school students. female and male, in Seoul, who responded to my questionnaire research. In terms of the clothes-shopping orientation, pleasure shopping orientation, brand-based shopping orientation, fashion-oriented one, convenience-oriented one and economic one are in sequence. In light of the consumer group based on the factors of clothes-shopping tendencies, the convenience-oriented group ranks first, which is followed by pleasure shopping group, brand-based shopping group and economic one. The subjects turn out to have purchased jeans at time of necessity, The subjects are most liable to get information from their friends, which is followed by their shopping experiences and display. And they turn out to be little affected by family members, salespersons and the press. They regarded aesthetic standards as one of the most important standards, which are followed by size, fitting, personality expression and prices in order. On the other hand, they think little of such factors as friends and similarity. In terms of the standards to make a selection of shops, the respondents cite the quality of goods, the prices of jeans, and service. They didn't think much of the importance of the persuasion of those around them, the convenience of mass transportation facilities, and the approving rate of brands and so on. They resort to wholesale markets, department stores and low-pricing shops in sequence. They turn out not to be satisfied with product guarantees, and fashion. They relied on aggressive approaches like exchanges and refund in case they were dissatisfied with jeans.
This study examines the children's wear purchasing behavior of younger generation women (the missy group) and in the new-silver generation (retired). The data collected in the study were examined with a view to establish effective marketing strategies within the children's wear market, a market where the age and characteristics of the actual purchasers of the products have become more diverse. A descriptive survey method using a self-administered questionnaire was employed. The sample consisted of 398 females between the ages of 28 and 64 residing in Seoul and the Gyeonggi-do area. Data collected were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and Cronbach's alpha coefficients. Respondents were classified into 4 groups by their clothes shopping orientation: conformable/brand conscious purchasing type, planned purchasing/enjoy shopping type, store/brand loyal impulse-oriented type, and dependent/low shopping interest type. There were differences between the missy and the new- silver generations under consideration. It is clear from the study that, even though some individuals of the missy group and of new-silver group belonged to the same shopping orientation type, individuals still showed differences with regard to children's wear purchasing behavior.

In the case of purchasing motives, significant differences were found according to shopping orientation subdivision in four factors. 3. The evaluation criteria of product were significantly different depending on shopping orientation subdivision in practical attribute, socio-psychological attribute, and aesthetic attribute. 4. The significant differences were found according to shopping orientation subdivision in general clothing purchasing behavior(purchasing price range of clothing, clothing purchasing frequency of a year, method of payment, number of stores visited, experience of buying in the import brand)
The purposes of this study were to segment department store customers based on patronage orientations of service facilities in a department store and to develop a profile of each segment using store visit behaviors, clothing purchase behaviors and demographics. A total of 453 responses collected from an on-site questionnaire survey to female department store customers was analyzed. Cluster analysis on patronage orientations of department store service facilities identified four groups including: Active patrons(27.3%); Comparison patrons(27.6%); Convenience seekers(27.3%); and Minimum patrons(17.8%). ANOVA and $\chi$$^2$ analyses revealed significant differences among the four groups on store visit behaviors(the extent of store visits and the extent of service facility visits), clothing purchase behaviors(6 store choice criteria and the extent of clothing purchase), and 5 demographic characteristics. The study developed a profile of each segment and provided marketing implications.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of shopping orientation, and service quality and satisfaction on impulsive buying behavior in two types of apparel store. The sample consisted of 616 females aged 20-30 who were shopping at department stores and shopping malls in Busan. Data were analyzed with factor analysis, t-test, cross analysis and path analysis. The results showed that consumers of department stores showed more strongly convenient orientation than those of the shopping mall, consumers of the shopping mall showed more strongly recreational orientation and practical orientation than those of the department. Stores services of the department were perceived better than that of the shopping mall in promotional services, salespersons' services and environmental services. But it didn't show any differences between store types in product services. Consumers 'satisfaction with the service was greater in department stores than the shopping mall. But it didn't show any difference between apparel store types in the impulsive buying behaviors. Impulsive buying behavior of department store shoppers is directly affected by a shopper' shopping orientation as well as store service quality perceived by shoppers rather than a shopper' satisfaction. The service quality does not have directly related to consumers’ service satisfaction. The causal relationships of impulsive buying behaviors showed similarity in shopping malls and department stores. The perceived quality and satisfaction with store service were higher at department store than shopping malls. In impulse buying behavior of a department store was directly affected by a shopper' shopping orientation as well as store service quality perceived by shoppers rather than a shopper’ store service satisfaction.
The purposes of this study were to investigate life style and various clothing purchasing behaviors of female consumers, and to analyze the differences of life style and clothing purchasing behaviors by 3 age groups(adolescence, middle age, and senescence). The subjects were 750 adult women aged from twenties to sixties who live in Daejeon and Chungnam province. The research method is a survey and research instruments consisted of life style questionnaire, clothing purchasing behaviors questionnaires, and demographic attribution. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, variance analysis, Duncan's multiple range test and $X^2$ test, using SPSS program. The research results are follows. First, 6 factors were emerged in life style(appearance-oriented, achieve-oriented, social life-oriented, economic- oriented, equality of sexes-oriented, and leisure- oriented). Second, 5 factors were emerged in shopping orientation(resonable shopping, conspicuous shopping, voluptuous shopping, devoted shopping, and convenient shopping). Third, clothing purchasing behaviors of adult women showed many differences by age groups. Adolescence women considered more criterion including design, price, and color or pattern, purchased their clothing by psychological reason such as fashion change, and used internet as important source of clothing, whereas senescence women purchased by physical reason such as body size change and functional trouble, used friend and sales person as important source of clothing, and purchased clothing at department store and old style market.
The purpose of this study is to examine the differences between the patronage consumers of the department stores and those of the non-patronage consumers in shopping orientation importance of the store attributes and self-image. Additionaly differences of the two groups are examined according to the demographic variables and the general apparel purchase behavior such as shopping frequency transportation etc,. The questionnaire were administered to 500 women living in Seoul and data were analyzed by frequency percentage factor analysis T-test and {{{{ chi ^2 }}-test. The results were as follows : 1) Significant differences were found in two groups according to shopping orientation. Namely the patronage consumers of the department stores enjoy shopping itself and have a tendency to purchase the clothing in vougue. Also they have more confidence in shopping and show higher store-loyalty that those of the non-partronage consumers. 2) Significant differences were found in two groups regarding importance of the store attributes. The patronage consumers of the department stores place more importance in information service/convenience provided by the department store than those of the non-patronage group while they less consider the product price and assortment. 3) The patronage consumers of the department stores pursue he self-image which reflects sexy and sophisticated image.

The purpose of the study were to find how the trend had an effect on a buying motivation, a selecting standard, a frequency of use, a purchase place of cosmetics, makeup and the distinctive quality of social strata of regarding a clothing shopping orientation. The subjects of investigation were the women in twenties who live in Seoul and Chonnam province. This study had been done from May to July 2001, and 660 questionnaires were used for analysis. The measuring tools used were the items of matters of preceding studies and developed ones by researchers on which questionnaires were prepared. Factor and cluster analysis and Duncan's multiple range test, ANOVA, x$^2$-test, frequency, and percentage as analysis methods were used through SPSS. The results of the study were as follows. The clothing shopping orientation divided five shopping orientations such as ostentatious style, enjoyable style, economical style, and prudent style, and an attachment style for special brands and shops. On the basis of this result, the groups 20's females were classified into low groups by the cluster analysis; economical shopping group, indifferent shopping group, conspicuous shopping group, and recreational shopping group. In the case of cosmetics purchasing motives, evaluation criteria of cosmetics, stores selection criteria were found according to shopping orientation subdivision, and there was the significant difference between the groups in frequency of use, a purchase place of cosmetics.
