Analysis of Consumer's Complaints for Clothing Products - In Taejon Area - (의류제품에 대한 소비자 고발실태 분석 - 대전지역을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the consumer's complaints for clothing products in quality, uses and care. The consumer's complaints that were lodged to in consumer's claim center, Taejon Housewives Classes, from 1997 Jan. to 1999 Mar. were analyzed. The major results were as follows. 1. Complainers are generally females in their thirties and forties. Out of the clothing items, jackets and jumpers are the most part. Periods of uses and prices of accused clothing are less than one year and one hundred thousands won respectively. For claims about purchasing places, department store ranked first. 2. The complaints are mostly claims related to quality of clothing products, for example damage, color change, deformation, pilling and shrinkage. 3. Concerning the results of claim consideration, responsibility's whereabouts is that consumers, manufacturers, launderer rank in order.

Trade Area Selection Criteria for Apparel Products -The cases of Bundang and Ilsan- (의류 제품의 소비자 상권 선택 기준 -수도권 신도시(분당, 일산) 소비자들을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was; to investigate consumers'selection criteria for their trade area when purchasing apparel products; to study whether there is a difference on the importance of the selection criteria; to examine consumers'willingness to visit specific trade area according to the types of apparel products. Four hundred sixty-nine female consumers who lived in the two new towns, Bundang and Ilsan participated in the study by completing questionnaires. Data were analyzed using factor analyses, t-tests, paired t-teats and chi-square analyses. The results indicated that consumer selected trade area based on shop variety within trade areas and range of products, customer services, environment of trade area, price level, entertaining features of the trade area, and the convenience of location and shopping time. In addition, the importance of these criteria varied according to the types of apparel products(i.e. formal wears and casual wears). The types of apparel products had influence on consumers'willingness to visit specific trade area. Consumers preferred the trade areas in the new towns for purchasing formal wears, whereas they frequented the trade areas in Seoul for purchasing casual wears.

Gift Giving: The Interaction between Gender, Gift Recipient, and Group Identity Importance by Product Category (선물증여: 선물 품목에 따른 성별, 선물 수령자, 대상 중요도의 상호 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between gender, gift recipient, and group identity by product category of Korean consumers. 672 usable questionnaires from South Korea completed a self- administered survey with a five-point Likert scale. This questionnaire evaluated the perceived importance of group identity when buying apparel and electronics as a gift for kin, nonkin, and co-workers. The interaction between gender, gift recipient, and group identity were statistically significant. The results suggest that the importance of group identity may vary when gender and gift recipient differ by product category. Recommendations for future research are discussed.

The Effects of Product Presentation and Background of Photos in Internet Shopping Malls on Consumer Perceptions (인터넷 의류쇼핑몰 상품 사진의 표현형식과 배경이 소비자의 지각에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined consumer responses of photos used in Internet shopping malls. The content analysis conducted a preliminary study of the top 100 online shopping malls to investigate current website practices. Stimuli based on the preliminary study. The present study was a $2{\times}2$ factorial design that evaluated two independent variables of product presentation and background. We analyzed 410 responses derived from the descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and covariance analysis through SPSS 20.0. The results showed that a product presentation was significantly different in attractiveness, informativeness, satisfaction, and repurchase intention after controlling apparel items and model. This product presentation in everyday life had greater mean values than product presentation with the posing model. The background had a significant mean difference in all consumer responses expect for attractiveness. Overall product presentation in everyday life and indoor cases were evaluated as most positive by the respondents. The findings provide practical implications for online shopping malls integrating product presentation.

An Empirical Analysis on Consumer Damage Cases of Clothing Products (의류제품의 소비자 피해 사례에 대한 실증분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the actual conditions of consumer damage occuring in the use of clothing products. The data used for analysis included 470 cases, which were deliberated by requesting consumer disputes deliberation at the consumer consultation room of Masan YWCA at the Kyeongsangnamdo Consumer Life Center belonging to the Kyeongnam provincial office. The disputes regarding the clothing products insisted that consumers suffered damage for the period from March, 2011 to June, 2013. The data processing was carried out by SPSS 14 and the statistics techniques used went through a cross tabulation analysis and ${\chi}^2$-test. The results are as follows. The difference in the analysis result of purchase path and material as to kinds of clothing products showed a significant difference. The damage types of clothing products were classified into five types: change of color, change of style, change of surface and touch, breakage of subsidiary materials, and others. The damaged clothing products showed a difference for damage frequency according to the items of clothing products; in particular, damage frequency for change of color appeared high. The damage contents of change of color were identified as metachromatism, discoloration and yellowing, stain occurrence, and decolorization. The damage responsibility for these clothing products appeared to be various as to clothing items, but was higher at dry cleaners and manufacturers.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of consumer knowledge and involvement of apparel products on information processing style. The subjects of this study were female adults who lived in Seoul, Kyunggi or Incheon areas and Quota sampling using age and residential areas was employed. The data were obtained from 603 questionnaires. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 10 and LISREL 7.0. Major statistical methods were factor analysis, Cronbach's a coefficient, multiple regression analysis, and structural equation model analysis. The results were as follows: 1. Consumer knowledge significantly influenced information processing styles. Rational processing style was significantly influenced by objective knowledge, while experiential processing style was significantly influenced by subjective knowledge. 2. Involvement was related to the subjective knowledge more than objective knowledge. Consumers who had higher interest, social importance and followed latest fashion trends tended to process information more experientially.

The Consumers Motive of Variety Seeking and Variety Seeking Behavior in Clothing Products -In relation to Fashion Interests and Clothing Purchase Behavior among Consumer Groups- (의류제품에 대한 소비자의 다양성추구 동기와 행동;소비자 유형별 유행관심, 의복구매행동과 관련하여)

  • The purpose of this study was 1) to find out the dimensions of consumers motive of variety seeking and variety seeking behavior toward clothing products, 2) to examine the relationship between above variables, and 3) to classify consumer group according to their motive and behavior of variety seeking, and to compare the groups characteristics in terms of the fashion interests and clothing purchase behavior. The data were obtained from 913 female university students, career women, and housewives using questionnaire. Consumers appeared to have the motive of variety seeking in clothing products, and the motive was composed of four factors. Consumers would show variety seeking behavior in clothing products. And the behavior was composed of three factors. Positive relationship existed between the motive and the behavior of variety seeking, while, the 4 factors of variety motive influenced differently on the different factors of variety seeking behavior. Subjects were classified into four groups according to their motive of variety seeking and variety seeking behavior. A significant differences were found among the 4 groups in fashion interests as well as quantity of purchase, frequency of purchase to clothing products.

The Effect of Clothing Brand Experience on Consumer-Brand Relationship and Brand Loyalty (의류브랜드의 체험이 소비자-브랜드 관계와 브랜드 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to identify not only dimensions of clothing brand experience, but dimensions of perceived consumer-brand relationship. In addition, this study investigated the relationships among clothing brand experience, consumer-brand relationship and brand loyalty. 354 questionnaires were distributed to female and male respondents aged 20 to 30, and then analyed by SPSS and AMOS program. The results were as follows. First, it was identified that the dimension of clothing brand experience was composed of two dimensions; individual experience(personal dimension) and relational experience(social cultural dimension). Second, the type of consumer-brand relationship was found out as three dimensions; interdependence, love and passion, and partner. Third, these results showed that individual and relational experience of clothing brand was the most influential factor for love and passion dimension of consumer-brand relationship. Forth, love and passion dimension through clothing brand experience was the most influential factor for brand loyalty. Above results imply that the key of strong brand relationship lies in the emotion of love such as human relationship.

A Study on the Consumer's Dissatisfaction for the Clothing Product -with YWCA Consumer's claims- (시판 의류제품에 관련된 소비자 불만에 관한 연구 -YMCA 소비자 고발자료를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the consumer's claims related to clothing merchandise. By th origination stage of claims, details of claims, and treatments of claims purchasing places of clothing merchandise, the consumer's claims are analyzed which were lodged to in consumer's complaint center, Seoul YWCA, in 1981-1990. To analyze these data statistically, frequency and percentile are used. The results of analysis for consumer's claims are as next : 1. Concerning the sex distinction, female complainers are more than male complainers. About the age bracket, twenties and thirties are the most numerous. The originations of claims being various. It is laundry and dry cleaning stage out of them that rank first, and total numbers of claims for clothing products continually have increased during 1981-1990. Out of the clothing items, outerwears are of the first rank and formal wear and coat are highest in rank of outerwears. For claims about purchasing places, agency ranked first and market, department store, custome-made and discount store came after in order. 2. Concerning the contents, quality of clothing product ranks first, inferior service, price, contrast, unfair transaction ranks in order. There are claims about quality of clothing product that color change ranks first and damage and form change rank in order. 3. The treatments of claims are that counsel, exchange, refund, repair and correction rank in order.

A Study on the Level of Consumer Knowledge and Involvement of Apparel Products on Information Processing Type (의류상품에 대한 소비자 지식수준과 관여도에 따른 정보처리유형에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study were to clarify differences in information processing type in relation to the consumer knowledge and involvement of apparel and to clarify differences in demographic characteristics in relation to the information processing type of consumer. The subjects of this study were female adults who lived in Seoul, Kyunggi or Incheon areas and Quota sampling using age and residential areas was employed. Major statistical methods were Chi square test and discriminant analysis. The results were as follows: 1. Consumer knowledge was found to be significantly related to the classification of information processing type. Low knowledge group tended to process infarmation rationally but high knowledge group utilized both rational and experiential process. 2. Consumer involvement was found to be significantly related to the classification of information processing type. Low involvement group tended to process information passively. High involvement group utilized both rational and experiential process 3.
