  • Geographical Customer Relationship Management (gCRM) is an integrated solution of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). In gCRM, GIS is used to show multi-dimensional analytical results of customer information geographically. When customer information is geographically presented, more valuable information appears. In this research we briefly introduce gCRM and show real examples of customer segmentation applied to company.

  • Over the last several decades, the advances in computer engineering technology have led a new paradigm of data-intensive research in the field of scientific applications. A collaborative work environment for storing, sharing and analyzing data is required for researchers of geographical distance. The Korean government supports the Research & Education network(KREONET) and the Global Science experimental Data hub Center(GSDC) to strengthen the nation's competitiveness. The KREONET has upgraded its backbone to 100Gbps to accommodate demand to transfer data fast among the global major experimental sites. This paper introduces the test result between high performance nodes reserved for big data transfer.

  • Generally, several hydrological characteristics which can be obtained from geographic processing in GIS S/W would be utilized to actual hydrological applications such as landslide stability or drainage analysis. Furthermore, by using practical GIS extension programs, it can be possible that automatic extraction task of those information, which was time-consuming and complex processing, is performed as systematical and automatic processing. In this study, using ArcView GIS S/W and its extensions concerning hydrological processing, some waterflow and surface factors in the area of Yemi sheet scaled 1:50,000 were extracted. Then, assessment of landslide stability, determined by DEM-based variables were carried out in order to investigate practical applicability of extension programs. It is thought that several hydrological factors extracted by this study were significant information to predict field model or hydrological hazardous events. It also reveals that landslide potential is overall stable with stability index mapping and S-A plot, with theoretical basis. This methodology can be applicable to other areas related to hydrological characteristics with measurements in fields.

  • A video conferencing system provides sharing the conference environment for geographically dispersed computer users who use the audio and video information. But the conventional video conferencing systems have some problems which are dependent on specific software and/or hardware and bound the certain platform and network environment. Furthermore the participants must know the information about other participants before joining the conference session and they have to use the same video conferencing system. This paper describes design and implementation of the video conferencing system on the WWW to solve the mentioned problems. The conference applications are transmitted from a WWW server and executed in the participants Web browsers. The participant can carry out conference services by using only the web browser. The WWW server takes charge of conferencing management including the information related to the participants and provides supported conference tools such as whiteboard, chatting and multimedia controls. Therefore the participants can easily join the conference sessions and perform conference working regardless of network connection situations. We used the Java to implement the seamless session connections and interaction between the conference participants which are the most important when implementing the video conferencing system on the WWW and used the ActiveX technology about the audio and video controls to make it easy the hardware control.

  • The term ecosystem services refers to natural ecosystems' benefits to humans. Various models have been developed and applied to quantify ecosystem services. Habitat quality assessment is a widely used leading InVEST ecosystem service model. In Korea, habitat quality assessment is conducted for national parks. For habitat quality assessment, the initial value of habitat quality must be used to assess the sensitivity to threats, which varies depending on the country and application field. Therefore, an expert survey (AHP) was conducted based on previous habitat quality assessments in national parks to adjust the sensitivity, the initial value for the habit quality assessment. As a result of the AHP, 18 items were adjusted, including 10 items, such as natural grassland and unarranged fields, upward and 8 items, such as rivers and ponds, downward. Based on the adjusted sensitivity results, the habitat quality of Bukhansan National Park and Gyeryongsan National Park (urban type), Gyeongju National Park (historic type), Hallyeohaesang National Park (ocean type), and Jirisan National Park and Seoraksan National Park (mountain type) were adjusted. The results of the analysis showed that the habitat quality of urban dry areas and water bodies distributed in the national parks was reflected in the habitat quality assessment. In the future, it will be possible to evaluate the habitat quality of natural parks using this standard.
