이방성 적층복합재 구조에서 AE 발생원 위치표정을 위한 실용적인 방법 (A Practical Method of Acoustic Emission Source Location in Anisotropic Composite Laminates)

  • 이방성 복합재료 적층판에서는 섬유의 배열방향에 따라 탄성계수가 변하므로 속도가 섬유의 방향성에 의존하게 된다. 등방성 속도를 기준으로 도달 시간차를 측정하는 전통적인 2차원 음향방출 위치표정 방법을 그대로 적용할 경우 위치표정의 오차가 매우 커지며, 그 과정이 복잡해지는 것을 피할 수 없다. 본 연구에서는 위치표정의 대상이 되는 관심영역(ROI)를 마치 유한요소법에서 사용하는 메쉬(mesh)처럼 적절한 크기의 정사각형 요소로 나눈 뒤, 각각을 가상의 AE 발생원으로 간주하였으며, 모든 요소에 대해 이방성을 고려한 속도를 기준으로 각 센서와의 도달시간차를 구하였다. 실험적인 검증을 위하여 알루미늄 박판 및 복합재료 적층판에 대해 $0^{\circ}$ 부터 $90^{\circ}$까지의 속도를 측정하고 위치표정을 실시함으로써 이방성 적층복합재로 이루어진 실제 구조물에서의 실시간 활용가능성을 확인하였다.

포화유무 및 온도조건에 따른 콘크리트 음향방출 신호 감쇠계수 결정 (Determination of acoustic emission signal attenuation coefficient of concrete according to dry, saturation, and temperature condition)

  • 본 연구는 경주 중·저준위 지하 처분환경에서의 사일로 콘크리트의 음향방출(AE) 신호 감쇠계수(α)를 결정하기 위해 신호감쇠 실험을 수행하였다. 활용된 시료들은 경주 중·저준위 처분장 사일로에 사용된 콘크리트 배합비로 제작하였으며 28일간 수중 양생 후 처분환경에 맞도록 온도 및 포화유무에 따라 추가적으로 노출시켰다. 처분조건 별 각 3개씩의 공시체에 대하여 신호전달거리에 따른 AE 신호를 측정한 결과, 초기구간에서는 포화콘크리트의 AE 진폭과 절대에너지가 건조콘크리트의 경우보다 더 높게 나타났지만, α는 포화콘크리트의 경우가 더 높게 산정되었다. 또한, 포화유무와 상관없이 온도가 증가함에 따라 α는 감소하는 경향을 보였다. α는 온도조건보다는 포화유무에 따른 영향이 큰 것으로 분석되었으며, 이는 콘크리트 처분구조물의 감쇠신호 측정 시 포화여부를 고려한 판단이 중요하다는 것을 의미한다. 처분환경에서의 콘크리트 α는 균열이 발생한 위치에서의 실제 AE 특성 파라미터 값을 추정함으로써 경주 중·저준위 처분환경에서 사일로 콘크리트의 건전성을 예측하고 센서의 최적 배치를 결정하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

광섬유를 이용한 상시감시 시스템용 음향방출센서의 개발 (Development of Fiber-Optic AE Sensor for On-Line Monitoring System)

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a fiber-optic acoustic emission(AE) sensor applicable to on-line monitoring systems which is suitable for long-distance signal transmission. An AE sensor was developed by use of a fiber-optic cantilever and an extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometer(EEPI). The efficiency of signal processing was improved by driving the high frequency AE signals into the low frequency ones. In order to verify the developed sensor, the tensile and the pencil lead fracture(PLF) tests were performed including the experiment showing the Kaiser effect. Form tests, AE signals were successfully detected in the elastic-plastic deformation range, especially higher signals at the crack propagation. The developed sensor was expected to be used for an on-line monitoring of crack propagation in mechanical system.

음향방출 신호의 검출을 위한 공진형 및 광대역 센서 제작과 특성평가 (Development and Characterization of High-Performance Acoustic Emission Sensors)

  • Three types of piezoelectric sensors to detect acoustic emission signals were developed and characterized. Epicentral displacement and velocity of a plate to have infinite boundary were calculated by convolution between a Green's function and a simulated source time function to show parabolic rising characteristic. The sensor calibration system set up was composed of a steel plate, a glass capillary, an indentor and a load cell indicator The transient elastic signals were detected by the sensors. The results were compared with the theoretical results and Fast Fourier Transformed. As the results, the sensor fabricated using a disk shape of a piezoelectric PZT element showed resonant characteristics. The sensors fabricated using a conical shape PZT element and a PVDF polymer film showed the wide band characteristics for particle displacement and velocity, respectively. The calculated results showed good agreements with the transient responses in the cases of the wide band sensors and it was confirmed that the simulated source time function had been properly assumed.

부분방전 전하량에 따른 음향방출 센서의 응답특성 (Response Characteristics of Acoustic Emission Sensor according to Partial Discharge Quantities)

  • The response characteristics of AE (acoustic emission) sensors with a coupled vibration mode and a non-coupled vibration mode were investigated according to PD(partial discharge) quantities in XLPE (cross linked polyethylene) sheets and craft papers immersed in insulating oil. The response voltages of a coupled vibration mode AE sensor were linearly proportional to the PD quantities up to 1,000 pC in XLPE sheets, while a non-coupled vibration mode AE sensor did not show the similar linearity. In case of a test of craft papers immersed in insulating oil, a linearity between response voltages and PD quantities was observed up to 550 pC, but after that, similar linearity between response voltage of any types of AE sensor and PD quantities was not shown.

  • In this study, coupled mode piezoelectric devices for AE sensor application with excellent displacement and piezoelectric characteristics were simulated using ATILA FEM program, and then fabricated. Displacements and electromechanical coupling factors of the piezoelectric devices were investigated. The simulation results showed that excellent displacement and electromechanical coupling factor were obtained when the ratio of diameter/thickness was 1.0. The piezoelectric device of ${\Phi}/T$= 1.0 exhibited the optimum values of fr= 406 kHz, displacement= $6.11{\times}10^{-8}[m]$, $k_{eff}$= 0.648. The results show that the coupled vibration mode piezoelectric device is a promising candidate for the application of AE sensor piezoelectric device.

압전센서와 음향방출신호를 이용한 적층복합재 판재에 대한 저속 충격손상 모니터링 (Low-velocity Impact Damdage Monitoring for Laminate Composite panels Using PVDF Sensor Signals and Acoustics Emission Signals)

  • This paper studied the PVDF(polyvinylidene fluoride) and Acoustic Emission sensors characteristics of the laminated composite panels under the low velocity impact. The various impact test by changing impact height is performed on the instrumented drop weight impact tester. The STFT(short time Fourier transform) and WT(wavelet transform) are used to decompose the each sensor signals. A ultrasonic C-scan and digital scope are used to define damaged area in each case. The test result indicated that the individual sensor signals involve the damage initiation and development.

  • The grinding operation is an important machining process for machining of final surface. However. grinding process has inevitable troubles such as loading and glazing for grinding wheel. It is, therefore, an essential research theme to determine the wheel life and the dressing timefor efficient grinding. In this study, AE signals (AEavg) generated in thc grinding operation were measured and the dressing time was determined from the analysis of the AEavg value. To verify the propriety of the obtained result. the AE signals measured on the grinding and the dressing operation were compared with the grinding force signals and the dressing force which were measured at same time. From the obtained result, it was confirmed that the determination of the wheel life and the dressing time by the AE measurement technique proposed in this study can be practically used.

  • In modern manufacturing industry such as aerospace, vehicle and die/mold industry, the high hardness malarial which is remarkable in aspects of durability is effectively used. The high-speed and precision machining technology has been applied in these fields. In this study, efficient sensors in high-speed machining by observing similar tendency through comparing cutting force with AE signal, gap sensor signal and accelerometer signal are selected, and machinability of high-speed machining is experimentally evaluated. We performed a basic research for sensing system construction to monitor a machine tool and machining condition.

  • Recently, the system of high speed milling(HSM) is widely used for reducing the operation time and maximizing efficiency of work. The most research of high speed milling system is still leaves much to be desired. Specially the research of mass pocket high speed processing with high precision is the first and probably the last. So this paper showed mass pocket processing of high precision with a duralumin and then confirmed a cause of inferior goods through the CAD/CAM pattern simulation and experimentation. And this paper showed high speed processing system reduce the rate of inferior from this optimal pattern.
