Growth Characteristics of Adenocaulon himalaicum according to microenvironments (주요 산채류인 멸가치의 미세환경에 따른 생육특성)

  • Moisture and quantum were measured to investigated out the growth characteristics of Adenocaulon himalaicum which is one of the important plants at the forest plants. The herbal medicines of Adenocaulon himalaicum known as one of the main mountain edible herbs have great value of resources according to the report that dopamine causing schizophrenia is greatly reduced with it. The moisture is a primary factor for the growth of Adenocaulon himalaicum. In this study we showed that the site with little change of temperature and under $200\;{\mu}mol\;s^{-1}m^{-2}$ quantum is suitable. Also, the maintenance of relative humidity over $50\%$ is a very important factor in the proliferation of shady spot plants.

Evaluating Explanatory Power of Solar Intensity as Determining Factor of Housing Density in Intermontane Basin (산간분지에서 주택밀도의 결정인자로서 태양광도의 영향력 평가)

  • It is usual to prioritize the spatial variables that influence housing location by a few specialist's experienced knowledge or intuition. Multiple regression techniques were used to evaluate the spatially prioritized relationships between housing density and seasonal solar intensity parameters for a total of 134 house locations. Solar radiation and duration of sunshine on winter solstice was the most important predictor of house density located in intermontane basin. In contrast to the typical theory, elevation, slope and accessibility to road were not a dominant determining factor upon the dependent variable of house density. A clear verification has been made for the hidden assumptions for the arrangement of typical Korean housing in intermontane basin that its approach is found to be more appropriate in avoiding shadow conditions, rather than exploring the ideal landform location.

  • 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 가. 벼 종자, 상토, 흔합 접착액 등 펠렛재료를 스크류 컨베이어에 의해 회전 성형롤에 공급, 압축성형 배출함으로써 직경 12 mm의 구형 벼 펠렛종자를 제조할 수 있는 벼 펠렛종자 제조장치를 설계·제작하였다. 나. 설계·제작된 벼 펠렛종자 제조장치의 제조능력은 시간 당 약 13,000 개 ∼ 37,000 개인 것으로 나타났고 이때 성형률은 약 61% ∼ 71%였다. 하지만 벼 종자 손실률은 약 17% ∼ 48%로 매우 큰 것으로 나타나, 펠렛재료의 손실과 종자손상을 줄이기 위한 성형롤 및 펠렛재료 공급장치의 개선이 필요한 것으로 보인다. 다. 제조된 펠렛종자의 무게는 제조 직후에는 1.66 g, 완전 건조 후에는 약 1.3 g으로 나타났으며, 제조된 펠렛종자의 직경은 약 12.0 mm에서 건조 후 약 11.2 mm로 축소되었다. 라. 제조된 한 개의 벼 펠렛종자 내 포함된 벼 종자의 개수는 상토와 벼 종자의 혼합비에 따라 다르게 나타났는데 혼합비 6 : 1에서 펠렛종자 당 종자 개수는 4.1 립, 혼합비 7 : 1에서 3.6 립, 그리고 혼합비 8 : 1에서는 3.1 립으로 나타났다. 마. 건조 후 벼 펠렛종자의 압축강도를 측정한 결과 건조기를 이용한 경우는 118 N ∼ 137 N, 음지 건조의 경우는 88 N ∼ 108 N으로 조사되었으며, 대체적으로 운반 및 파종 과정에서의 취급성은 문제가 없을 것으로 보인다.

  • A species of metacercariae recovered from the fresh-water fish, collected from Kaumji (Pond), Kaechonji (Pond) and Ssanggyechon (River), Uisong-gun, Kyongsangbuk-do, Korea, was identified as Clinostomum compzcnatum by morphological observation and experimental infection to chicks. The excysted metacercariae, tongue-shaped and progenetic, were 3.28-4.27 mm in length and 0.94-1.46 mm in width. The adult flukes recovered from the chicks four days after infection were 4.20-4.86 mm long and 1.14-1.49 mm wide. Twelve species of the fresh-water fish were found to be infected with the metacercariae. The infection rate ranged from 1.6% (Zacco temminkii) to 88.9% (Acheilognathus rhombec and Microphwsogobio voluensis) . The intensity was highest in Cnrqssius curatus (13.0/fish infected) and the abundance (relative densityl was highest in A. rhombea (7.8/fish examined). This survey demonstrated for the first time the source of human infection by C. complnnntum in Korea.

Effect of Shading Levels on the Growth and Chlorophyll Contents of Allium victorialis L. var. platyphyllum Makino (차광정도가 산마늘의 생육 및 엽록소 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this research was carried out that leafty and tonic vegetable using garlic (Allium victorialis L. var. platyphyllum Makino) makes use of landscape ground-cover plant. Following shading level treatments (30%, 50%, 80%), garlic was cultivated to investigate plant growth characteristic and chlorophyll content. Leaf number of all treatments was unaffected, and 80% shading treatment had grown vigorous growth 16.8 cm leaf length and 10.1 cm leaf width compared to 13.4 cm leaf length and 7.3 cm leaf width for the non-shading treatment. Fresh weight of non-shading treatment was better than those of three shading treatments, however, 80% shading treatment had produced 10.4 g fresh weight of stem part compared to 8.5 g for the for the non-shading treatment. The chlorophyll content of the 50 and 80 shading treatments showed 42.8% and 40.5% respectively. These treatments increased 36.7% chlorophyll content compared to non-shading treatments. Following shading level treatments, growth characteristics of garlic in 80 shading level treatment shows outstanding growth and it is worthy of planting as shading ground-cover plants.

Growth Environments of Cypripedium macranthum Sw. Habitats in Korea (복주머니란 (Cypripedium macranthum Sw.)자생지의 생육환경에 관하여)

  • Growth environments of Cypripedium macranthum Sw. habitats distributed in mountains and highland plains of northern part of Kyunggi-do and Kangwon-do in Korea, were studied in order to obtain basic data. Mean temperature in habitats of Cypripedium macranthum was $14^{\circ}C$ and minimum value was recorded $-7^{\circ}C$ in January, and maximum value was $28^{\circ}C$ in August. Mean soil temperature of the orchid sites was $11^{\circ}C$ and minimum value was $-4^{\circ}C$ in January. The light intensity from March to May was 48,000~51,400 lux and the lowest value was 11,500 lux in July. Light intensity in shade habitat sites from July to August was dropped to 470~865 lux, and the SPAD value was 34.3 in July, which was the highest of the year. The range of soil acidity was pH 5.6~5.8 and soil moisture was 16.4%~36.2%. The highest soil moisture was 36.2% on June. The Cypripedium habitats were correlated with temperature (especially high temperature), light intensit, and soil moisture. However, critical factor seems to be soil moisture in distribution of Cypripedium macranthum in Korea.

  • The present study was conducted to develop a more accurate and efficient measure than any other quantifying measures of the leaf variegation when influenced by changes in certain physical and environmental factors. Through this computer quantification for two Tradescantia cultivars, it was ascertained that total leaf area decreased and extent of the leaf variegation increased as light intensity increased. According to this result to determine the brightness of the leaf, using the same aforementioned measurement, the leaf color was brightest in the sun and it become darker as light intensity decreased. High correlation was found between total leaf and leaf variegation area measured by leaf area meter and the pixel of computer graphic file through scanning. Thus, the leaf area and leaf variegation area measurement using computer graphic will be used very efficiently.

  • Anti-icing system can immediately respond when snowing is expected or the snow comes down on the road surface. It has been recognized that the system can reduce traffic accidents and congestion by quickly removing the frozen road surface area. However, it is very difficult to implement this system due to the expensive equipment installation and operation cost, Recently, there was a developed program for predicting the freezing area using three-dimensional model and tracking the sun path. But, there is no objective analysis method and all developed approaches are different so that the general standard of anti-icing system is needed. In this study, we proposed the decision criteria for determining application priorities of the anti-icing system based on weather and road conditions, i.e., geometric and topographic conditions. Regional climate survey, topographical analysis, and dynamic vehicle simulation considered road geometry and skid resistance was conducted to standardize the installation method of anti-icing system.

Design of 24-GHz Power Amplifier for Automotive Collision Avoidance Radars (차량 추돌 방지 레이더용 24-GHz 전력 증폭기 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose 24-GHz CMOS radio frequency (RF) power amplifier for short-range automotive collision avoidance radars. This circuit contains common source stage with inter-stages conjugate matching circuit as a class-A mode amplifier. The proposed circuit is designed using TSMC $0.13-{\mu}m$ mixed signal/RF CMOS process ($f_T/f_{MAX}=120/140GHz$). It operates at the supply voltage of 2V, and it is designed to have high power gain, low insertion loss and low noise figure in the low supply voltage. To reduce total chip area, the circuit used transmission lines instead of the bulky real inductor. The designed CMOS power amplifier showed the smallest chip size of $0.1mm^2$, the lowest power consumption of 40mW, the highest power gain of 26.5dB, the highest saturated output power of 19.2dBm and the highest maximum power-added efficiency of 17.2% as compared to recently reported results.
