Effects of Dietary Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) Components on Growth Performance, Heal Morphology and Serum Cholesterol in Male Broiler Chickens (효모(Saccharomyces cerevisiae)의 급여가 육계의 생산성. 장내 융모 발달 및 혈청 콜레스테롤에 미치는 효과)

  • An experiment was conducted to investigate whether dietary yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae, SC) and its' structural components, i.e., yeast cell-extract (YE) and yeast cell-wall (CW) could influence growth performance, ileal morphology and serum lipids of male broiler chickens. There were four dietary treatments, each consisting of 6 replicates (10 birds per replicate). Chickens were fed a corn-soybean meal base control diet and diets containing SC ($0.5\%$), YE ($0.25\%$) and CW ($0.25\%$), respectively for 5-wk-experimental period. Dietary SC, YE and CW versus the control diet did not affect growth performance of male broiler chickens. Ileal morphology as to villus height, crypt depth and villus:crypt ratio of birds fed on the control diet was not significant from those fed on diets rich in SC, YE and CW, respectively. Dietary SC significantly lowered (P<0.05) serum total cholesterol by on average $19.7\%$ as compared to the control group. In addition, chickens fed on diets with either YE or CW lowered serum cholesterol by on average 15.3 and $12.5\%$, respectively as compared to the control albeit that the former only reached statistical significance. In conclusion, our study observed the hypocholesterolemic effect of SC in male broiler chickens. Moreover, YE, i.e., an extract of intracellular components of SC contains active molecules that are responsible far lowering serum cholesterol concentrations, but their identification at the molecular level needs to be assessed.

  • In order to at day evaluate effect of dietary 2.0 % brown seaweed(Undaria pinnatifida) with bean extract on performance and nutrients utilization during acute phase response, one day-old broiler chicks were fed basal diet and diets substituted with 2.0 % brown seaweed and 2.0 % brown seaweed with bean extract instead of wheat bran in basal diet for 4weeks. Dietary 2.0 % brown seaweed with bean extract enhanced dietary ME value and protein accumulation due to the increased NB and decreased UAN excretion. increased feed intake during acute phase response and had the highest body weight among birds fed experimental diets. The resulted indicated that dietary 2.0 % brown seaweed with bean extract improved performance of broiler chicks due to the increased protein accumulation during acute phase response.

육계 병아리 육추기간에 균일도를 향상시키는 방법

  • 해마다 2~3월은 복 물량 대비 병아리 발생이 시작되는 시기로써 이른바 초산병아리가 부화장마다 분양되고 있다. 올해도 역시 초산병아리가 현장에 많이 분양되면서 2~3월에 생산성이 극히 낮아지는 현상이 반복되었다. 물론 극히 일부 초산을 제외하고 초산이든 노계든 그에 맞는 사양관리를 정상적으로 해 준다면 큰 문제가 없으나 생산성이 낮은 농장에서는 초산병아리가 입실되어도 피크병아리가 입식됐을 때와 마찬가지로 사양관리를 해 주기 때문에 문제가 발생하고 있다는 것이 필자의 판단이다. 육추관리는 모든 것을 잘해줘야 하지만 특히 초산병아리가 입식 됐을 때는 피크 병아리가 입식됐을 때보다 두 배의 관리를 해줘야 정상관리를 할 수 있다. 그런 관리를 하지 못했을 때 가장 문제가 되는 것이 층아리가 발생하여 계군 균일도를 떨어뜨리는 문제이다. 2~3월달 농장을 방문하면서 이점이 가장안타까웠기에 필자가 다시 한번 펜을 들게 되었다. 육계는 마라톤이 아니라 단거리인 100m달리기와 같아서 입추기간동안은 육추관리는 100m에서의 '스타트'와 같아서 그 기간이 바로 사육성적을 결정하고 후에 회복할 시간이 없다. 문제된 병아리가 입식되어도 정상적인 육추관리를 해 준다면 피해를 최소화 할 수 있음을 강조하고 싶다.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary yeast (Saccharomyces exguus) supplementation on growth performance, cecal microflora and fecal ammonia gas in broiler chicks. A total of two hundred seventy, 1-d-old male broiler chicks (Ross strain) were randomly allotted to nine pens (replicates), 30 birds per pen. There were three dietary treatments with three replicates. The treatments were control (virginiamycin 0.05%+salinomycin 0.03%), Saccharomyces exguus 0.5 and 1.0%. Total body weight gain were significantly higher in Saccharomyces exguus1 1.0% treatment than the control (P<0.05). Although not significant, the yeast supplementation tended to improve the feed conversion ratio. No significant differences were observed on the numbers of cecal E. coli, Salmonella and Lactobacillus in yeast treatments compared to those of control. The production of fecal ammonia gas was significantly lower in yeast treatments than the control (P<0.05). The concentrations of fecal short chain fatty acids and volatile organic compounds were not different among the groups. These results suggest the possibility that yeast (Saccharomyces exguus) could be used as the alternative of antibiotic growth promoters by improving the performance of broiler chicks. In addition, dietary yeast could improve the environment of broiler houses by reducing fecal ammonia production.

Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Garlic By-products on Performance and Carcass Characteristic of Chicken Meat (사료 내 마늘 부산물 첨가 급여가 육계의 생산성 및 도체 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of garlic by-products on performance, proximate composition, carcass characteristic, cholesterol, and blood composition of chickens. Broiler chicks were fed diets for 5 weeks with a diet 1% garlic by-product (T1), 2% garlic by-product (T2), and 5% garlic by-product (T3). There were no difference among diet in performance. In proximate composition, crude fat of chicken meat was decreased in diets by addition of garlic by-product than control, but moisture and crude ash were no significant difference. Liver weight was significantly increased (P<0.05) by the dietary supplementation with garlic by-products compared to the control diet. The total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol of treatment groups was lower than control, and the HDL-cholesterol of treatment groups was higher than control (P<0.05). Especially, T3 was significantly (P<0.05) more effective in improving cholesterol compared to other treatment groups. In blood composition, GOT of broiler was decreased in diet by garlic by-products than control group, but GPT, triglyceride, and glucose were no significantly different. In conclusion, these data indicate that supplementation of garlic by-products (T3) were most effective in decreasing total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and GOT and increasing HDL-cholesterol.
