A Study on the Implementation of the TCM DECODER for Next Generation Mobile Communication (차세대 이동통신을 위한 TCM 복호기 구현에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we presented that the performance of the TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) using the Euclidean distance is better than that of the convolutional code using the hamming distance under the same bandwidth efficiency. And the TCM DECODER for next generation mobile communication replacing the using convolutional decoder is implemented. Also, for the implementation of the TCM DECODER, the convolutional decoder and the TCM decoder were made by C-language and simulated under AWGN channel with respect to the hard decision and the soft decision. So we proved that performance of the TCM is better than that of the convolutional code. From this result, TCM DECODER, of which constraint length is 3, 5 or 7 and which use the soft decision method, was implemented using the AHDL(Altera Hardware Description Language) and fortified using the Max+plus H version 8.2 of Altera corporation.

The Analysis study of 'datum' 'in Middle School Geometry on the Basis of 'The Data' of Euclid (유클리드의 자료론(The Data)에 기초한 중학교 기하영역의 '자료(datum)' 분석 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze 'datum' of 'The Data' in the textbooks of middle school on the basis of 'The Data of Euclid' and develop datum. For this, the followings are conducted. First, the distinctive structure of datum of 'The Data' is considered. Second, some learning materials the contents of geometry in the textbooks of middle school are analyzed and the mathematical meanings are explored. Third, the applicable datum to geometry education of middle school are developed and the way of educational use is studied. The hopefully, the result of this study will make school mathematics education more plentiful and give meaningful implications to revision of mathematics education curriculum and the improvement of teaching and learning.

Design of an Adaptive Reed-Solomon Decoder with Varying Block Length (가변 블록길이를 갖는 적응형 리드솔로몬 복호기의 설계)

  • In this paper, we design a versatle RS decoder which can decode RS codes of any block length n as well as any message length k, based on a modified Euclid's algorithm (MEA). This unique feature is favorable for a shortened RS code of any block length it eliminates the need to insert zeros before decoding a shortened RS code. Furthermore, the value of error correcting capability t can be changed in real time at every codeword block. Thus, when a return channel is available, the error correcting capability can be adaptiverly altered according to channel state. The decoder permits 4-step pipelined processing : (1) syndrome calculation (2) MEA block (3) error magnitude calculation (4) decoder failure check. Each step is designed to form a structure suitable for decoding a RS code with varying block length. A new architecture is proposed for a MEA block in step (2) and an architecture of outputting in reversed order is employed for a polynomial evaluation in step (3). To maintain to throughput rate with less circuitry, the MEA block uses not only a multiplexing and recursive technique but also an overclocking technique. The adaptive RS decoder over GF($2^8$) with the maximal error correcting capability of 10 has been designed in VHDL, and successfully synthesized in a FPGA.

수학교사들의 내용지식이 학생들의 기하 평가에 미치는 영향

  • 본 연구는 중 고등학교 교사 50명에 대하여 기하 문제의 논증기하적 또는 해석기하적 문제해결 전략이 학생들의 평가에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 조사한 것이다. 중학교에서 고등학교로 진학하면 도형의 문제에 대한 해석기하적인 문제해결 능력은 교육과정 상 대단히 중요하게 가르쳐야 할 내용이다. 유클리드 기하에 바탕을 둔 논증기하의 지식은 좌표평면의 도형을 방정식으로 나타내고 연구하는 해석기하의 기본이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 많은 학생들은 논증기하적 문제해결을 선호하는 반면 해석기하적 문제해결은 어려워한다. 또한 논증기하적 문제 형태에는 논증기하적 문제해결 전략, 해석기하적 문제 형태에는 해석기하적 문제해결 전략을 구사하는 경향을 보인다. 본 연구는 중 고등학교 교사들의 기하 문제에 대한 내용 지식이 학생 평가에 미치는 영향에 초점이 맞추어져 있다.

  • Taxicab geometry was a typical non-Euclid geometry for mathematically gifted. Most educational material related quadratic curves on taxicab geometry for mathematically gifted served them to inquire the graph of the curves defined by focis and constant. In this study, we provide a shape of quadratic curves on taxicab geometry by applying three definitions(geometric algebraic definition, eccentricity definition, conic section definition).

A New Criterion of Information Theoretic Optimization and Application to Blind Channel Equalization (새로운 정보이론적 최적기준에 의한 블라인드 등화)

  • Blind equalization techniques have been used in multipoint communication on which the research on the internet has focused. In this paper, a criterion of minimizing Euclidian Distance between two PDFs for adaptive blind equalizers has been presented. In order for ED expressed with Parzen PDFs to be minimized, we propose to use a set of randomly generated desired symbols at the receiver so that the PDF of the generated symbols matches that of the transmitted symbols. From the simulation results, the proposed method has shown superior error performance even in severe channel environments in which CMA has shown severe performance degradation. This indicates that the proposed algorithm can be considered relatively insensitive to ESR variations compared to CMA. As a field of ITL, ED minimization using Parzen PDFs has shown possibilities of being successfully applied to blind equalization.

  • In this paper an algorithm that represents shape sequences with moving frames parallel along the sequences are developed. According to Levi-Civita connection, it is not easy to measure the variation of the vector fields on non-Euclidean spaces without tools to parallel transport them. Thus, parallel transport of the vector fields along the shape sequences is implemented using the theories of principal frame bundle and analyzed via extensive simulation.

Analytic study on construction education based on Euclid's 'On divisions' (유클리드 분할론에 기반한 작도교육의 방향 분석)

  • Ancient Greek mathematician Euclid left three books about mathematics. It's 'The elements', 'The data', 'On divisions of figure'. This study is based on the analysis of Euclid's 'On divisions of figure'. 'On divisions of figure' is a book about the construction of the shape. Because, there are thirty six proposition in 'On divisions of figure', among them 30 proposition are for the construction. In this study, based on the 'On divisions of figure' we explore the direction for construction education. The results were as follows. First, the proposition of 'On divisions of figure' shall include the following information. It is a 'proposition presented', 'heuristic approach to the construction process', 'specifically drawn presenting', 'proof process'. Therefore, the content of textbooks needs a qualitative improvement in this way. Second, a conceptual basis of 'On divisions of figure' is 'The elements'. 'The elements' includes the construction propositions 25%. However, the geometric constructions contents in middle school area is only 3%. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the learning of construction in the our country mathematics curriculum.

The Diorism in Proposition I-22 of 『Euclid Elements』 and the Existence of Mathematical Objects (『유클리드 원론』 I권 정리 22의 Diorism을 통해서 본 존재성)

  • The existence of mathematical objects was considered through diorism which was used in ancient Greece as conditions for the existence of the solution of the problem. Proposition I-22 of Euclid Elements has diorism for the existence of triangle. By discussing the diorism in Elements, ancient Greek mathematician proved the existence of defined object by postulates or theorems. Therefore, the existence of mathematical object is verifiability in the axiom system. From this perspective, construction is the main method to guarantee the existence in the Elements. Furthermore, we suggest some implications about the existence of mathematical objects in school mathematics.

Voronoi Diagrams with a Transportation Network (도로망이 설치된 평면에서의 보로노이 다이어그램)

  • 본 논문에서는 유클리드 평면상에 도로망이 주어져 있어서 여행자들이 그 도로들을 이용하여 더욱 빠르게 이동할 수 있을 경우를 가정한다. 이 때, 두 점 사이의 거리는 기하학적 직선거리가 아닌 주어진 도로들을 이용하여 두 점 사이를 이동할 때 필요한 최소시간으로 측정한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 새로운 거리 척도를 고려할 때에 보로노이 다이어그램이 어떤 특성을 갖는 가를 연구하며 그것을 이용하여 보로노이 다이어그램을 효율적으로 계산하는 알고리즘을 제시한다. 이알고리즘은 O(nm$^2$logn+m$^3$logm)의 시간과 O(m(n + m))의 공간을 필요로 한다. 이 때, n은 주어진 싸이트의 개수이고 m은 주어 진 도로의 개수이다.
