Estimating Maintenance Cost of RAPCON at Air Force Base (비행기지 RAPCON 유지보수비용 추정)

  • RAPCON non only controls landing/take-off procedures but also approaching air traffics within 60-70 NM range of air force base. This paper, first of all, tries to research the failure rate per operation hours, mean time between failure (MTBF) of RAPCON according to six blocks such as interrogator, receiver, power unit, display unit, data process unit and antenna. In addition, this paper estimates the maintenance cost over next 10 months based on 50 monthly maintenance cost data. Considering the maintenance cost data from RAPCON which has been used over designed service life span, it is no doubt the forecasted data proved the monthly cost would go up incrementally during the rest of economic life of the facility. Such research result is also proven to be the same with the result of bathtub curve data during operating life.

  • An important problem in reliability analysis for repairable systems is to model the maintenance effect. The most of researches have assumed two extreme cases; one is perfect maintenance and the other is minimal maintenance. However, many of maintenances performed by domestic subway operators are imperfect maintenances which have the effect between both of two extreme cases. This article deals with the problem determining the imperfect preventive maintenance intervals based on failure data in units of the PDS(passenger door system) in Metro EMU. This paper deals with a case study on determining imperfect maintenance interval by using the level of maintenance effect through reliability analysis of PDS.

A Conceptual Procedure of RAMS Centered Maintenance for Railway Systems (철도시스템의 RAMS 중심의 유지보수 정책 결정을 위한 개념적 절차)

  • There are two main parts to improve the quality and the efficiency of railway service. One is to acquire the system with high RAMS performance and the other is to keep it up. Therefore we need to specify RAMS requirements in the system specifications and verify them. In addition, it is necessary to monitor RAMS and to make operation and maintenance policies based on RAMS. This article presents RAMS centered maintenance procedure of which target is to continuously achieve the inherent RAMS performance of the acquired system. The method to evaluate the effect on RAMS and the conceptual optimal model for determining maintenance interval are also proposed.

  • Railway system has been unmanned and high-speedy. Korean railway corporations need a more effective and smarter system for operation and maintenance. So there are many theses that studied the intelligent operation and maintenance system using vision based technologies for railway corporation. This paper analyzes domestic theses which studied the intelligent vision based system for railway safety, railway vehicle and facilities and proposes research which uses the more powerful vision based technology with deep-learning for railway corporation.

  • The restructuring of Korean railway industry, separation of between train operators and an infrastructure manager, had been conducted in 2004 to increase the productivities of railway operations. However, the maintenance-staffs are still employed by Korail (train operator), not by the infrastructure manager, which led the maintenance of railway infrastructure to be conducted by the train operator. The infrastructure manager is now only taking care of financial transferring issues once the train operator requests expenses spent for facility maintenance. Such incomplete restructure may result in a lack of safety performance on railway operations as the roles and responsibilities are less likely to be assigned under the multiple train operators. Thus, this study proposes the way of structuring maintenance divisions and their roles and responsibilities to assure the safe work execution under the circumstance of multiple train operators on the same rail network.

  • This paper describes the problem of existing maintenance system for mail sorting machnies, and presents to-be considerations of maintenance system based on AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis with efficiency and economic aspects. There are standard procedure for diagnosis and repair of mail sorting machine as preventive and operational maintenance, roles and missions of maintenance technical support center for upgrade of maintenance skill in this paper. The proposed maintenance system will be adapted for more safety and efficiency maintenance of mail sorting machine.

  • 본 논문에서는 항행안전시설을 구성하는 구성요소를 체계별로 구분하고 체계별 운영시간 에 따른 고장율 등을 분석한다. 아울러 설계수명에 점차 도달한 항행안전시설 운영단계에서 발생한 유지보수비용 데이터를 토대로 남은 설계수명 기간 동안 향후 발생 가능한 유지보수 비용을 추정한다. 이런 분석결과를 통해 장비의 신뢰성 관련 선행연구들에서 주로 인용되고 있는 욕조커브(Bathtub Curve) 이론과 본 연구의 비용예측 결과와의 연관성을 진단하고 안정적인 유지보수를 위한 기초자료로서 활용되고자 한다. ARIMA 예측모형을 토대로 향후 10개월 간 발생가능한 유지보수 비용을 예측한 결과 비용이 상승할 것이라는 통계적으로 신뢰할 만한 추정 결과를 얻었다. ARIMA를 활용한 추정결과는 앞선 MTBF 분석내용을 지지함과 동시에 시설의 정비 신뢰도를 보여주는 욕조커브 분포와 일치하는 신뢰할 수 있는 결론을 얻은 것이다.

  • 전력 산업구조개편으로 인하여 전력회사의 민영화가 진행됨에 따라 전력회사에서는 한정된 예산으로 배전계통을 운영함으로써 유지보수를 위한 충분한 여유가 없어지게 될 것이다. 이러한 환경에서 한정된 비용으로 계통의 신뢰도를 일정 수준 이상으로 유지해야만 하는 문제에 직면하게 되며, 이는 매우 어려운 일이다. 이를 위해서는 최소의 비용으로 최대의 유지보수 효과를 낼 수 있는 방법을 개발해야 하며, 최적의 유지보수 주기를 찾는 것이 중요한 문제라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제론 해결하기 위해, 유지보수 기기 선정 및 유지보수 주기를 결정하는데 있어 검증된 기법인 Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) 기법을 이용하였다. 배전계통 기기의 유지보수에 있어서 Four-state Markov 모델을 이용하여 기기의 유지보수에 드는 비용과 기기의 고장에 의한 정전비용 사이의 trade-off를 고려하여 총 비용이 최소가 되는 최적의 유지보수 주기를 찾고자 한다. 이를 위하여 기존의 모델에서 평균고장률(mean failure rate)을 사용한 것과는 달리 시변 고장률(time-varying failure rate)을 적용하였으며, 또한 유지보수에 따른 고장률의 감소도 고려함으로써 최적의 유지보수 주기를 결정할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, railway corporations have built maintenance information systems and collected failure and maintenance data. For example Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation (SMRT) built the Electric Motor Unit-Information System (EMU-IS) which is the first maintenance information system in Korea. It has been operated from August, 2000. This paper deals with a case study on determining maintenance interval through reliability analysis using EMU-IS fault data. Door system is considered for the case study in which reliability is evaluated for operating time and distance and the overhaul interval is determined.
