  • The purpose of this study was to develop the indicatives for the analysis of the effects of Gyeonggi-do Book Sharing Project on pre-schoolers of supporter' reading care and thereby, suggest some data useful to the establishment of a reading culture promotion policy in Gyeonggi-do. Preceding studies and cases were reviewed to analyze the effects of the book-sharing project on pre-schoolers of supporter' reading care and thereby, develop some measurement indicatives, and thus, the indicatives were verified by professionals using the Delphi technique. Then, supporter of 3~5 year-old pre-schoolers were sampled from 7 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do (Pocheon-si, Yangpyeong-gun, Yeoju-si, Dongducheon-si, Gapyeong-gun, Yeoncheon-gun and Yangju-si) to be divided into control and test groups and thereby, their reading care effect indicatives were compared before and after the test. The theoretical background is theory of family literacy, emergent literacy and parenting efficacy. As a result of developing the indicatives for analysis of pre-schoolers of supporter's reading care effects and comparing them for the sample pre-schoolers of supporter, before and after the test, the book-sharing project was found effective in improving reading care. The most difficult problem in pre-schoolers' earlier reading education involves acquisition of reading habit. So, it is deemed necessary to operate a regular book sharing project involving public organization and homes. As a result of developing the indicatives and analyzing the effects of the book-sharing project, it was confirmed that the project would serve to improve pre-schoolers of support's reading care and therefore, this study seems to provide some ground for the operation of a sustainable book-sharing project to narrow the education divide and promote a book reading culture in Gyeonggi-do.

  • Using qualitative methods of interviewing, documentation, and participant observation, this study explored kindergarten children's understanding on their transition into elementary school. Phenomenologically, results showed that children understood that the transition into elementary school means thrownness (Geworfenheit) and projection (Entwurf). When children answered the question about why they want to go to elementary school, their responses demonstrated an understanding of the inevitability (thrownness) of transition. That is, they understood that entering elementary school was an unavoidable step for growing up. They expected(projected) that they would enjoy new activities and opportunities in elementary school. While they felt anxious about stem teachers and difficult studies, they looked forward to intellectual development, various indoor activities, outdoor exercises, and multi-layered encounters.

For the analysis, data from the 2nd Panel of Community Child Center(2017) were used. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 20 program. As a result, peer attachment(peer trust) has a positive effect on their center experience and school adjustment, and the center experience has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between peer attachment and school adjustment. The relationship with a center teacher and the center service evaluation of the children who use community child center are important factors that affect their school adjustment. Therefore measures should be taken to improve the quality of the community child center programs and its teachers.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the difference in perception among parents of preschoolers, parents of school aged children, teachers of child care centers and elementary school teachers regarding testing on the level of preparation for attending elementary school. Firstly, the results of the study revealed that elementary school teachers had notions regarding the level of preparation for entering school that were more specific than day care teachers and parents. Second, it was shown that effort and a sense of responsibility were most important for the improvement of the level of preparation for elementary school level studies. Third, the results of this study revealed that many respondents thought that there needs to be some form of testing of the level of preparation for school and the respondents further stated that this testing needed to be conducted by child care center teachers or experts in the field. Finally, it was shown that such a test of the level of preparation for school attendance should be developed by including questions on different areas of the intelligence, adaptability, function, tendencies and regulations in relation to the needs of preschoolers.

  • This study suggests that multicultural education should not be limited to educational sites such as kindergartens. Since the multicultural attitudes and consciousness of young children are unconsciously acquired through parents' words and school education, they emphasized the implementation of multicultural education at home and kindergarten. In other words, multicultural education should not only be carried out in the field of education, but also in the homes of children. However, there are still few studies on multicultural education for parents. In this regard, this study highlights the importance of parents on multicultural education by examining the socio-economic status of parents with early childhood children and their actual experiences in multicultural education. To provide basic data.
