  • The purpose of this study was to clarify how preschooler's adaptive temperament and father's child-rearing involvement may be related to mother's chid-rearing stress. The subjects were 320 mothers whose children were 3, 4 or 5 age preschoolers attending day care centers in Keoungbok. Statistical techniques were Pearson's correlation, hierarchical multiple regression(using SPSS 12.0). The results of this were as follows. 1. Mother's child-rearing stress was negatively related to preschooler's adaptive temperament. 2. Mother's child-rearing stress was negatively related to father's child-rearing involvement. 3. The Multiple Regression analysis showed that preschooler's adaptive temperament and father's child-rearing involvement were significantly predictive to mother's child-rearing stress. And preschooler's adaptive temperament was the stronger predictor of mother's child-rearing stress than father's child-rearing involvement. There was no significant interaction effect of father's child-rearing involvement and preschooler's adaptive temperament on mother's child-rearing stress.

  • The purpose of this study was to establish the relative influences of individual variables (sex, age, temperament) and mother's psychosocial variables (maternal attitude, parenting stress, marriage satisfaction) on daily stress levels and maladjustment of young children attending at daycare centers. Subjects were 224 pairs of children and their mothers, and 18 teachers from 5 child-care centers in Gwangju City. Children were tested individually using 22-item daily stress inventory with illustrations which described certain stressful situations. Questionnaires were also administered to mothers and teachers. Collected data were subjected to Cronbach's $\alpha$, correlation and multiple regression analysis using SPSS (WIN 14.0) program. The major findings were as follows; Overall average score of children's daily stress was equivalent with the median. 'Blame and attack situation' and 'anxiety and frustrated situation' were perceived as more stressful for children than 'lose self-respect situation'. Overall average score of children's maladjustment was lower than the median. 'Overactivity' was highest among subscores of maladjustment. Age was the only significant influential factor on children's daily stress level. Sex was the most influential factor on 'overactivity', 'aggression', and 'regression' of young children. Activity and maternal stress were the second most influential factor on 'overactivity' and 'aggression', respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand a mother's parenting behavior and home environment in relation to the stress of a male child. The subjects were 200 mothers of 4-6 years old children in early childhood programs located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Instruments used in this study were the Mother's Parenting Behavior Scale (Park Seong Yeon & Lee Suk, 1990), Home Scale (Jang Yeong Ae, 1981), and Children's Usual Stress Scale (Yeom Hyeon Gyeong, 1998). Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Results indicated that (a) stress was shown to be higher if the mother's parenting behavior was authoritarian and over-protective, (b) children of lower economic background showed a higher stress level than middle and upper economic background subjects, and (c) the mother's educational background, authoritarian and over-protective parenting behavior and quality of the family background were meaningful variables for children's stress.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of maternal perception of children's temperament on parenting stress. The subjects of this study were 303 mothers of four to six-year-old. Evaluations of Parent and Teacher temperament questionnaire for Children 3-7 years of age(Tomas, Chess, & Kom, 1977)(korean version) was used to measure children's temperament, and PDH(Parenting Daily Hassles) was used to measure maternal perception of parenting stress. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Peasons's Correlation and multiple regression analysis and Duncan test for post test by SPSS WIN program. The results of this study were as follows; First, the average level of maternal perception of children's temperament was the highest in the category of adaptability and the lowest in the category of threshold of responsiveness. Second, maternal perception of children's temperament was significantly different according to children's sex. Boys were perceived higher than girls for the category of activity level. Third, the degree of daily hassles was explained by adaptability, the quality of mood, and activity level relatively, while the intensity of parenting stress could be predicted orderly by adaptability, threshold of responsiveness, attention span & persistence, regularity, and activity level. Fourth, mother's daily hassles was explained 22% valiance by children's temperament such as adaptability, the quality of mood, and activity level. Future research should be done to identify the interaction of temperamental factors.

  • As the COVID-19 situation continues, early childhood are unable to attend early childhood education institutions and are spending more time with their parents at home. Parents are faced with a situation where they have to spend a lot of time at home to teach their children for Korean word learning or play activities. This act as a lot of psychological burden and stress for parents. In order to relieve the psychological burden of parents, the design and implementation of early childhood learning assistant system that can support Korea word education and play activities using artificial intelligence blocks of block coding technique was proposed in this study. The usage of a proposed system can not only reduce the burden on parents for their children's learning, but also can be actively used in the field of early childhood education so many learning effects can be expected.
