Verbal Interaction in Paired Think-Aloud Problem Solving; Comparison of the Characteristics of Small Groups Based on Achievement (해결자·청취자 활동에서의 언어적 상호작용: 성취도에 의한 소집단별 특성 비교)

  • This study investigated the characteristics of verbal interactions of various small groups based on previous achievement in paired think-aloud problem solving. Two classes of a high school were assigned to the homogeneous and heterogeneous groups, and taught on chemistry. Students from homogeneous groups (high${\cdot}$high, mid?id) and heterogeneous groups (high${\cdot}$mid, high${\cdot}$low) were selected, and their algorithmic problem solving on chemical equation and stoichiometry were audio/video taped. In high${\cdot}$high group, solver's 'require agreement' and listener 'agree' were frequently exhibited. On the other hands, listener's 'point out' and solver's 'modify' were frequently exhibited in mid${\cdot}$mid group, which was also observed in the heterogeneous groups (high${\cdot}$mid, high${\cdot}$low). Many verbal interactions were analyzed to be in symmetrical type. In this type, 'require agreement-agree' of high${\cdot}$high group was the most frequent. 'problem solving-agree' of high${\cdot}$high group was the most frequent in the solver-dominant type, while 'point out-modify' of high${\cdot}$low group in the listener-dominant type. The verbal behaviors related to the solving stage were frequently observed, but there were few related to the reviewing stage.

An Analysis of Algebraic Thinking by Third Graders (초등학교 3학년 학생들의 대수적 사고에 대한 실태 분석)

  • Given the importance of developing algebraic thinking from early grades, this study investigated an overall performance and main characteristics of algebraic thinking from a total of 197 third grade students. The national elementary mathematics curriculum in Korea does not emphasize directly essential elements of algebraic thinking but indicates indirectly some of them. This study compared our students' performance related to algebraic thinking with results of Blanton et al. (2015) which reported considerable progress of algebraic thinking by emphasizing it through a regular curriculum. The results of this study showed that Korean students solved many items correctly as compatible to Blanton et al. (2015). However, our students tended to use 'computational' strategies rather than 'structural' ones in the process of solving items related to equation. When it comes to making algebraic expressions, they tended to assign a particular value to the unknown quantity followed by the equal sign. This paper is expected to explore the algebraic thinking by elementary school students and to provide implications of how to promote students' algebraic thinking.

  • Even though the similar land price zone is very important element in the public land appraisal procedure, the concept is implicitly described and applied into the actual land appraisal system. This situation makes it worse when applying for the automatic selection of a comparative standard land parcel. In addition, the division of similar land price zones requires the objective and reasonable process for improving ALPAS(Automatic land Price Appraisal System), which becomes an issue today. To solve the similar land price zone determination problem that is caused by the lack of objective numerical standard, this study proposed a similar land price zone determination method using a hybrid clustering technique. Results showed that this hybrid clustering method that applied into the test area could easily detect similar land price zones with considerable accuracy levels, which are verified with some test statistics and real comparative standard land parcels done by manually.

  • Software is expensive, labor-intensive, and time-consuming to develop. To solve this problem, many organizations turn to publicly available open source, but they often do so without knowing exactly what they're getting into. Older versions of open source have various security vulnerabilities, and even when newer versions are released, many users are still using them, exposing themselves to security threats. Additionally, compliance with licenses is essential when using open source, but many users overlook this, leading to copyright issues. To solve this problem, you need a tool that analyzes open source versions, vulnerabilities, and license information. Traditional Blackduck provide a wealth of open source information when you request the source code, but it's a heavy lift to build the environment. In addition, Fossology extracts the licenses of open source, but does not provide detailed information such as versions because it does not have its own database. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a version and license detection tool that identifies the open source of a user's source code by measuring the source code similarity, and then detects the version and license. The proposed method improves the accuracy of similarity over existing source code similarity measurement programs such as MOSS, and provides users with information about licenses, versions, and vulnerabilities by analyzing each file in the corresponding open source in a web-based lightweight platform environment. This solves capacity issues such as BlackDuck and the lack of open source details such as Fossology.

Effectiveness of an Emergent Care Management Simulation Education among Senior Nursing Students According to Learning Styles (간호대학 4학년 학생의 학습유형에 따른 응급상황관리 시뮬레이션 교육의 효과)

  • This is a quasi-experimental study involving one group design with pretest and posttest for evaluation of an effectiveness of an emergent care management simulation education among senior nursing students according to their learning styles. Participants were 58 senior nursing students. Learning style and educational effectiveness (critical thinking disposition, problem solving process, cooperation, satisfaction with learning, and self-confidence) were measured. Learning styles of senior nursing students were converger 46.6%, assimilator 34.5%, accommodator 15.5%, and diverger 3.4%. Critical thinking disposition, problem solving process, cooperation, and self-confidence were significantly enhanced by an emergent care management simulation education. Otherwise, educational effectiveness according to learning styles were not significantly different. Based on the results, devising stratagem to maximize an educational effectiveness will be needed trough re-evaluation of relationship between learning styles and effectiveness of a simulation education.

  • Due to the limitations of budget, resources, and time invested in a project, software requirements should be prioritized and be implemented in order of importance. Existing approaches to prioritizing requirements mostly depend on human decisions. The manual prioritization process is based on intensive interactions with the stakeholders, thus raising the issues of scalability and biased prioritization. To solve these problems, we propose a fully automated requirements prioritization approach, ToMSN (Topic Modeling Stakeholder Needs for requirements prioritization), by topic modeling the stakeholder needs-artifacts earned in the requirements elicitation phase. The requirements dataset of a 30,000-user system was utilized for the performance evaluation. ToMSN showed competitive prioritizing accuracy with existing approaches without human aids, therefore solving scalability and biased prioritization issues.

  • Multiparty computation (MPC) is a computation technique where many participants provide their data and jointly compute operations to get a computation result. Earlier MPC protocols were mostly depended on communication between the users. Several schemes have been presented that mainly work by delegating operations to two non-colluding servers. Peter et al. propose a protocol that perfectly eliminates the need of users' participation during the whole computation process. However, the drawback of their scheme is the excessive dependence on the server communication. To cater this issue, we propose a protocol that reduce server communication overhead using the proxy re-encryption (PRE). Recently, some authors have put forward their efforts based on the PRE. However, these schemes do not achieve the desired goals and suffer from attacks that are based on the collusion between users and server. This paper, first presents a comprehensive analysis of the existing schemes and then proposes a secure and efficient MPC protocol. The proposed protocol completely eliminates the need of users' participation, incurs less communication overhead and does not need to solve the discrete logarithm problem (DLP) in order to get the computation results.

Characteristics of Pre-Service Secondary Mathematics Teachers' Anticipating Through the Task Dialogue Activity (과제대화록 작성하기를 통한 중등수학 예비교사의 예상하기 특징 분석)

  • The present study aims to investigate ways in which pre-service secondary mathematics teachers anticipate 1) students' responses to specific mathematical tasks which are chosen or devised by the participating pre-service teachers as requiring students' higher cognitive demand and, 2) their roles as math teachers to scaffold students' mathematical thinking. To achieve the goal, we had our pre-service teachers to engage in an adapted version of Spangler & Hallman-Thrasher(2014)'s Task Dialogue writing activity whose focus was to develop pre-service elementary teachers' ability to orchestrate mathematical discussion. 14 pre-service teachers who were junior at the time enrolled in the Mathematics Teaching Method Course were subjects of the current study. In-depth analysis of both Task Dialogues which pre-service secondary mathematics teachers wrote and audiotapes of the group discussions while they wrote the dialogues suggests the following results: First, the pre-service secondary teachers anticipated how students would approach a task based on their own teaching experiences. Second, they were challenged not only to anticipate more than one correct students' responses but to generate questions for the predicted correct-responses to bring forth students' divergent thinking. Finally, although they were aware that students' knowledge should be the crucial element guiding their decision-making process in teaching, they tended to lower the cognitive demands of tasks by providing students with too much guidance which brought forth the use of procedural knowledge. The study contributes to the field as it provides insights as to what to attend in designing teacher education course whose goal is to provide a foundation for developing pre-service teachers' ability to effectively orchestrate mathematical discussion.

  • 상사실험법(analogous experimental method)이라 함은 물리적현상을 다른 물리적현상으로 변환 하여, 후자를 실험적으로 측정하여 전자의 제반 물리량을 얻는 과정을 말한다. 이 때 두 물리량 사이에는 수학적 상사관계, 특히 미분방정식 상의 유사관계가 성립함을 전제로 한다. 일반적으로 임의형상의 내부응력을 실험적으로 해석하는 데는 탄소성 변위를 직접 전기적저항으로 바꾸어 측정하는 방법(strain gauge method)이나 광파의 간섭무늬(fringe)로 가시화하는 광탄성 법(photoelastic method), 또는 전자계산기를 이용하여 분할요소해석의 연계집적으로서 얻는 유 한요소법(F.E.M) 등이 널리 사용되고 있으나, 이들은 다같이 그 나름대로의 장단점을 지니고 있다. 전기저항식은 변형을 직접 측정할 수 있어 측정의 오차를 줄일 수 있고, 특히 실물측정과 동하중 해석에는 큰 강점이 있으나, 점해석(point by analysis)이기 때문에 전시야적인 분포를 파악하기 어렵다. 또한 광탄성법은 명료한 전시야적 분포를 얻을 수 있지만 모형해석(model analysis)이기 때문에 정밀한 모형제작의 어려움이 수반되며, F.E.M.(B.E.M.도 포함)은 복잡한 형상에서의 요소분할이 매우 어렵고, 경계조건의 정확한 설정에 문제가 있다. 따라서 여러 실험적 방법은 실측대상에 따라 그 장단점을 감안하여 선택되어야 하며, 이 글에서 논술하고자 하는 상사실험법에 의한 응력해석도 이러한 관점에서 지금까지의 일련의 연구결과를 종합하여 그 효 용적인 용도, 응용 및 그 전망과 더불어 장차 해결하여야 할 2,3의 문제를 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on UX Design Process Lecture Based on Modified PBL (Problem-Based Learning) (변형된 PBL 기반의 UX 디자인 수업 설계 연구)

  • PBL is expected to be very useful in the engineering project course that leads students to active learning in problem solving process. But it is not actively utilized because of various problems. In this study, modified PBL lectures were laid out for a course that practice UX design process. Modified PBL lectures provide theoretical class and two PBL practices. The variant is that the problem design is made by the students themselves on a weekly basis, rather than by the instructor, and that the two PBL processes consist of one project. The results of this study are meaningful as a basic data in PBL-based engineering college project class. Additional discussion of how to evaluate grades needs to be specified.
