In view of the facts that dopamine (DA) when given directly into a lateral ventricle (i.c.v.) of the rabbit brain induces antidiuresis and that haloperidol, a non-specific antagonist of DA receptors, produces anti-diuresis in smaller doses and diuresis and natriuresis in larger doses, the present study was undertaken to delineate the roles of various DA receptors involved in the center-mediated regulation of renal function. Bromocriptine (BRC), a relatively specific agonist of D-2 receptors and at the same time a D-,1 antagonist, elicited natriuresis and diuresis when given i.c.v. in doses ranging from 20 to 600 {\mu}g/kg$, roughly in dose-related fashion, while the renal perfusion and glomerular filtration progressively decreased with doses, indicating that the diuretic, natriuretic action resides in the tubules, not related to the hemodynamic effects. These diuresis and natriuresis were most marked with 200 ${\mu}g/kg$, with the fractional sodium excretion reaching about 10%. With 600 ${\mu}g/kg$, however, the diuretic, natriuretic action was preceded by a transient oliguria resulting from severe reduction of renal perfusion, concomitant with marked but transient hypertension. When given intravenously, however, BRC produced antidiuresis and antinatriuresis along with decreases in renal hemodynamics associated with systemic hypotension, thus indicating that the renal effects produced by i.c.v. BRC is not caused by a direct renal effects of the agent which might have reached the systemic circulation. In experiments in which DA was given i.c.v. prior to BRC, 150 ${\mu}g/kg$ DA did not affect the effects of BRC (200 ${\mu}g/kg$), while 500 ${\mu}g/kg$ DA abolished the BRC effect. In rabbits treated with reserpine, 1 mg/kg i.v.,24 h prior to the experiment, i.c.v. BRC could unfold its renal effects not only undiminished but rather exaggerated and more promptly. In preparations in which one kidney is deprived of nervous connection, the denervated kidney responded with marked diuresis and natriuresis, whereas the innervated, control kidney exhibited antidiuresis. These observations suggest that i.c.v. BRC influences the renal function through release of some humoral natriuretic factor as well as by increasing sympathetic tone, and that various DA receptors might be involved with differential roles in the center-mediated regulation of the renal function.

We studied on pesticide residue and pest control effect when using various types of sprayers on paprika cultivation. Additionally, a test was conducted to optimize chemical content per unit area in condition of optimum pest control. Two types of sprayer were tested (three times) on paprika cultivation which was divided into seven sections. Blind spots were also examined using a water sensitive paper when spraying chemical pesticide, remote controlled sprayer were confirmed to be not effective in terms of its spraying capacity. However, a U-shaped sprayer was confirmed that it sprayed enough on all the parts of a plant in green house including the blind spots. Additionally, it does not exceed the minimum residue limits on the all parts of pesticides residue conditions. When using remote controlled sprayer, water sensitive paper were changed to blue color (82.5% and 81.2%) in terms of controlling Bemisia tabaci and Aphis gossypii based on the two spraying manners. 53.0% and 42.6% of control effect were shown on the fair parts of the plants. However, on the poor parts on which pesticides were not well-sprayed, thus, not-remained, more number of pests increased. Meanwhile, on farming that only one type of pesticide has been used, resistance pests present with very low control effect, even though sufficient amount of pesticide was well-sprayed. On the test of the optimum amount of spraying per a unit area, which shows no differences in the two cases of using 5L and 2.5L of chemical pesticides on 9 plants of paprika that has 81.8% and 84.5% control effect, respectively.

This study is about zeolite synthesis from the sewage sludge incinerator fly ash of "S" sewage treatment center located in Seoul. For this purpose, the properties of raw fly ash as starting material, the hydrothermal conditions for zeolite synthesis and the environmental applicabilities of synthesized zeolites were examined. Fly ash from sewage sludge incinerator has large quantities of SiO$_2$ and Al$_2$O$_3$ and their contents are 42.8 wt.% and 21.2 wt.% respectively. So fly ash is considered to be possible starting material for zeolite synthesis. The results from leaching test of fly ash showed that the concentration of hazardous metals were very low as compared with the Korea leaching standard of the Waste Management Law. But the concentration from total recoverable test of fly ash were higher than the fertilizer standard of Fertilizer Management Law. Major zeolite products synthesized by hydrothermal reaction are analcime in teflon vessel and zeolite P1 in borosilicate flask. Optimum conditions for the synthesis of analcime were 1 N of NaOH concentration, 16 hour of reaction time and 135$^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature. For the zeolite P1 formation, the proper conditions were demonstrated to be 5 N of NaOH concentration, 16 hour reaction time and 130$^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature in this study. Hazardous metal contents in the analcime product are similar with those in raw fly ash. In case of the zeolite P1, the contents are reduced to nearly a half. Raw fly ash and the analcime product showed NH$_4{^+}$ ion exchange capacity of 0$\sim$1.0 mg of NH$_4{^+}$g$^{-1}$ and 3.0$\sim$7.4 mg of NH$_4{^+}$g$^{-1}$, respectively. However, the zeolite P1 product reached exchange capacity to 14.6$\sim$17.8 mg of NH$_4{^+}$g$^{-1}$. This values are in the range of those of natural clinoptilolite and phillipsite. From this point of view, zeolite synthesis from sewage treatment sludge incinerator fly ash is a good alternative for solid waste recycling.

From the ancient times our forefathers settled down in this peninsular and cultivated the hills and waste-lands into fields. Instead of fertilizing the lands they moved to find other fertile lands and lived a feudal life of agriculture and various machines played a main role in the land reclamation. The best method of land clearing, the time and efficiency in the operation and the effect of growing crops should sysematically analized prior to the time of 3rd Five-year Economic Development(1972-1976) in order to cultivated 210,000 ha of waste-land or the modernization of our country. The present study was investigated to find out a new working-system of mechanical land clearing and development of fertile soil. The results are as follows: 1) The land reclamation in natural slope is much more encourageable in land clearing and farming when the slope is below ten grades than bench terrace. 2) Weeds were mixed with soil in the land clearing work in order to supply organic materials and to make soil swollen instead of burning of just removing. 3) The equipments such as bulldozers, harrows, power tillers and so on should be prepared in order to do a systematic work in the land clearing. 4) The work of pulling-up roots is dependent upon the forms of roots spreading under the ground. The work of the pulling-up the straight roots was most difficult. 5) The land clearing work of the wrinkled style blocks was easy in pulling up roots and in the time of first plowing. The harrowing work could also be simply done. 6) The amount of soil carried was $240m^3/10a$, 15.6% increased amount from the standard block, while the required time of clearing work was 2 hours 15 minutes 45 seconds/10a, the one third of time required for the standard block. 7) The time disc harrowing work increased 50%, or 15 minutes/10a compared to the harrowing work required in the cultivated soil. 8) The time of rotary tilling increased 2.4 times or 1 hour 47 minutes 43 seconds/10a compared to the time required in the cultivated soil. 9) The reclamed land should be fertilized according to the soil quality, especially added fertilizer should be more than 1,200kg/10a, limes 20kg/10a. In order to produce added fertilizer grass fields should be needed. 10) The experiment of pasture growing is now progressing and therefore the effect of land clearing and the degree of developed soil will be investigated before long.
The effects of hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia on utilization of muscle glycogen during 45 minute Session of treadmill running(26 m/min, 8% grade) were evaluated using Sprague Dawley rats, and the characteristics of the 4 different type of muscles, I.e., soleus, white and red gastrocnemius, and plantaris, on glycogen utilization were simultaneously investigated. Hyperglycemia was induced by 145-165 mg/dL of oral glucose administration, and hyperlipidemia was induced by combined treatment of intraperitoneal heparine injection of 444 uEq/L and 10 % intralipose oral adminstration. During the hyperglycemic trial, the glycogen utilization of plantaris muscle was decreased by 13 % in 45 minute session of treadmill running compared to the control trial(p<0.05), and the glycogen utilization of white gastrocnemius was also decreased. The sparing tendency of glycogen was observed in soleus and red gastrocnemius by 5-13 % during 30 and 45 minute session of treadmill running in hyperglycemic trial. There was no glycogen sparing effect of hyperlipidemia in soleus, red gastrocnemius and plantaris muscle subjected in this experiment during exercise. However, only a slight sparing tendency of white gastrocnemius muscle was observed. In summary, the glycogen sparing effect of hyperglycemia during exercise was observed in plantaris and white gastrocnemius muscles in rats. However, there was no glycogen sparing effect of hyperlipidemia in the 4 hindlimb muscles. It was observed that the glycogen sparing effect of hyperglycemia is more prominent in fast glycolytic muscle fibers.

Purpose : To evaluate Contralateral Breast Doses with Supine and Prone Positions for tangential Irradiation techniques for left-sided breast Cancer Materials and Methods : We performed measurements for contralateral doses using Human Phantom at each other three plans (conventional technique, Field-in-Field, IMRT, with prescription of 50 Gy/25fx). For the measurement of contralateral doses we used Glass dosimeters on the 4 points of Human Phantom surface (0 mm, 10 mm, 30 mm, 50 mm). For the position check at every measurements, we had taken portal images using EPID and denoted the incident points on the human phantom for checking the constancy of incident points. Results : The contralateral doses in supine position showed a little higher doses than those in prone position. In the planning study, contralateral doses in the prone position increased mean doses of 1.2% to 1.8% at each positions while those in the supine positions showed mean dose decreases of 0.8% to 0.9%. The measurements using glass dosimeters resulted in dose increases (mean: 2.7%, maximum: 4% of the prescribed dose) in the prone position. In addition, the delivery techniques of Field-in-field and IMRT showed mean doses of 3% higher than conventional technique. Conclusion : We evaluated contralateral breast doses depending on different positions of supine and prone for tangential irradiations. For the phantom simulation of set-up variation effects on contralateral dose evaluation, although we used humanoid phantom for planning and measurements comparisons, it would be more or less worse set-up constancy in a real patient. Therefore, more careful selection of determination of patient set-up for the breast tangential irradiation, especially in the left-sided breast, should be considered for unwanted dose increases to left lung and heart. In conclusion, intensive patient monitoring and improved patient set-up verification efforts should be necessary for the application of prone position for tangential irradiation of left-sided breast cancer.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of H$_2$O fraction of Dioscorea japonica Thunb(DJT) with selenium(Se) treatment on blood glucose and lipid metabolism in streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats(180-220g) weighing were divided into five groups, that is one normal group and four diabetic experimental groups : the STZ-control group, the DJT group, the DJT-Se group and the Se group. Diabetes mellitus was induced in the male rats by injection of STZ into the tail vein at a dose of 45mg/kg B.W. The H,0 fraction of DJT(500mg/kg) given orally were administered for 14 days. The Se treated group were fed a AIN-76 recommendation diet mixed with Na$_2$SeO$_3$(2mg/kg diet), which was prepared fresh daily. The body weight and food intake was monitored daily and plasma levels of glucose, insulin, hematocrit and protein were determined. The plasma concentrations of cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and fire fatty acid were measured. The activities of aminotrans ferase were analysed. The body weight gain was shown to be significantly higher in the normal group than all diabetic groups. The blood glucose levels of the DIT-Se group was significantly lower compared to those of the experimental groups. The administration of H$_2$O fraction of DJT and selenium showed an increase in plasma protein concentrations. The plasma cholesterol levels of all STZ-groups were not significantly different and HDL-cholesterol levels were increased in the diabetic experimental groups fed on H$_2$O fraction of DJT or Se supplementation. Plasma triglyceride levels were lower in the DJT-Se and Se group than in the STZ-control group. free fatty acid levels were not significantly differ among STZ-control groups. STZ treatment increased aminotransferase activity and that of DJT group was highest. In conclusion, the data from the present experiments indicate that the treatment of the H$_2$O fraction of DJT with selenium showed a synergistic effect and the two can have an influence on hyperg1ycemia and lipid metabolites when administered together. Reversible brain ischemia was produced by occluding both common carotid arteries for 5 min, and the effects of aminoguanidine (AG), $DL-{\alpha}-difluoromethylornithine$ (DFMO), MK-801, and nimodipine (NM) on the ischemia induced changes of the polyamine, glutamate and acetylcholine levels in the hippocampus CA1 subfield and the specific $[^3H]\;MK-801$ binding to the hippocampus synaptosomal membranes were studied with a histological reference of the cresyl violet stained hippocampus. The basal putrescine level $(PT:\;74.4{\pm}8.8\;nM)$ showed a rapid increase (up to 1.7 fold) for 5 min of ischemia, remained significantly increased for 6 h, and then resumed the further increase to amount gradually up to about 3 fold 96 h after recirculation. However, the level of spermidine was little changed, and the spermine level showed a transient increase during ischemia followed by a sustained decrease to about 40% of the preischemic level after recirculation. The increase of PT level induced by brain ischemia was enhanced with AG or MK-801, but it was reduced by DFMO or NM. The basal glutamate level $(GT:\;0.90{\pm}0.l4\;{\mu}M)$ rapidly increased to a peak level of $8.19{\pm}1.14\;{\mu}M$ within 5 min after onset of the ischemia and then decreased to the preischemic level in about 25 min after recirculation. And NM reduced the ischemia induced increase of GT level by about 25%, but AG, DFMO and MK-801 did not affect the GT increase. The basal acetylcholine level $(ACh:\;118.0{\pm}10.5\;{\mu}M)$ did little change during/after brain ischemia and was little affected by AG or NM. But DFMO and MK-801, respectively, produced the moderate decrease of ACh level. The specific $[^3H]\;MK-801$ binding to the hippocampus synaptosomal membrane was little affected by brain ischemia for 5 min. The control value (78.9 fmole/mg protein) was moderately decreased by AG and MK-801, respectively but was little changed by DFMO or NM. The microscopic findings of the brains extirpated on day 7 after ischemia showed severe neuronal damage of the hippocampus, particularly CA1 subfield. NM and AG moderately attenuated the delayed neuronal damage, and DFMO, on the contrary, aggravated the ischemia induced damage. However, MK-801 did not protect the hippocampus from ischemic damage. These results suggest that unlike to the mode of anti-ischemic action of NM, AG might protect the hippocampus from ischemic injury as being negatively regulatory on the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor function in the hippocampus.
The composition of rumen volatile fatty acids(VFA) and the blood chemistry were investigated in 5 clinically health dairy cows(Group I) reared on dairy farms and in 5 cows with post-parturition(POP) primary ketosis(Group II). The determinations were performed on days 5 to 7 pre-parturition(PRP), immediately POP, and on days 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 POP. In both groups, the total VFA levels gradually increased starting from day 5 POP, but the levels were lower in Group II than in Group I. With regard to POP. changes in the composition of VFA, Group II occasionally showed lower levels of acetic acid and caproic acid than did Group I. Blood glucose levels decreased POP in both groups. In contrast, blood levels of ketone bodies and 3-hydroxybutyric acid were increased POP, but there was no statistically by significant difference between the groups. The aspartate aminotransferase level was transiently increased immediately POP in both groups, and the increase was more marked in Group II than in Group I. Both groups showed a tendency for total cholesterol, free cholesterol, ester cholesterol, phospholipid, and total bile acid to be increased POP, but there was no statistically significant difference between the groups. Clinically healthy dairy cows also showed POP changes in the composition of VFA and blood similar to those in dairy cows with ketosis, suggesting that even apparently healthy cows are at risk of subclinical ketosis POP.
The reasonable level of nitrogen fertilizer is a key factor to reduce environmental contamination as well as to increase crop yield and quality. The treatments are $N=42kg\;10a^{-1}$, $N=48kg\;10a^{-1}$, $N=54kg\;10a^{-1}$. $N=60kg\;10a^{-1}$. $N=72kg\;10a^{-1}$ and $N=150kg\;10a^{-1}$. Analytical results of yield and quality of tea leaves harvested the second time are summarized as follows: The soil of experimental field was higher in organic matter($49.9g\;kg^{-1}$) and available phosphate($937mg\;kg^{-1}$) compared to the general field but lower in pH(5.07) compared to the general field. When the amount of nitrogen fertilizer application was raised, the yield of tea leaves, the content of nitrogen, total free amino acids, caffeine and chlorophyll increased: however, the yield of tea leaves increased to excessive levels. On the other hand, the increased level of nitrogen fertilizer did not show any difference in the contents of vitamin C and tannin. Eleven kinds of amino acids were isolated from second harvested leaves of tea where the content of theanine occupied over 50%, and content of $665{\sim}763mg\;100g^{-1}$. The contents of fatty acids and catechin did not show correlation with application level of nitrogen fertilizer. The content of fatty acid was produced $1,742{\sim}2,643mg\;100g^{-1}$, and content of catechin was produced 12.47~13.54%. In scoring test, $N=60kg\;10a^{-1}$ treatment was 0.5~6.0 point higher compared to other treatments. Consequently, $N=60kg\;10a^{-1}$ is considered to be the best level of nitrogen fertilizer in terms of decreased environmental contamination as well as to increase crop yield and quality.
