  • Owing to the global energy crisis, studies have strongly focused on realizing energy savings through vehicle weight reduction using light metal alloys or polymer composites. Polymer composites afford many advantages including enabling the fabrication of complex shapes by injection molding, and glass and carbon fibers offer improved mechanical properties. However, the high temperature in an engine room and the high humidity during the rainy season can degrade the mechanical properties of the polymer. In this study, the mechanical properties of injection-molded glass-fiber-reinforced polymer were assessed at a temperature of $85^{\circ}C$ and the maximum moisture absorption conditions. The result showed a 23% reduction in the maximum tensile strength under high temperature, 30% reduction under maximum moisture absorption, and 70% reduction under both heat and moisture conditions. For material selection during the design process, the effects of high temperature and high humidity should be considered.

  • In this paper, infrared thermography measurement technique has been used to develop standard measurement technique for nondestructive testing of composite materials which is widely used in aerospace industries. To increase the defect detection rate, the related experiment used the lock-in IR-thermographiy method. Therefore it is of considerable interest in the field of non-destructive testing for fast discontinuity detection by using ultrasonic lock-in infrared thermography. The result also shows that as the investigation period of light source is lengthened according to the thickness of specimen, the possibility of detecting defects gets higher as well. However, the reason why the result values were not favorable when less than 50 mHz of light source was provided is because it was difficult to detect defects as the defect parts became a state of thermal equilibrium in general when thermal diffusivity affects the entire materials.

  • Composite materials are widely used to make all kinds of machine parts, internal and structural materials of cars, aerospace industries, building structures, ship materials, sporting goods and others. It is worth the while to use composite materials as various substitutions when compared with others. But the use is limited in the field of the mechanical processing because of its difficulties in processing. Thus, it is proved that the surface is rough in and out of the hole processing the GFRP with HSS drill in the vertical machining center.

  • In the use of glass fiber reinforced plastics it is often necessary to cutting the components, but the cutting GFRP is often made difficult by the delamination of composites and the short tool life. In this paper, the machinability of GFRP by mean of tool materials and type was experimentally investigated. By proper selection of cutting tool material and type excellent machining of this workpiece is achieved. The surface quality relate closely with the feed rate and cutting tools.

  • The application of lightweight structural composites to automobiles as a solution in line with global fuel economy regulations to curb global warming is recognized as a megatrend. This study was conducted to provide a technical approach that can respond to the issue of replacing parts that require conductive properties to maximize the application of thermoplastic carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs), which are advantageous in terms of repair, disposal and recycling. By utilizing the properties of the low-viscosity polymerizable oligomer matrix, it was possible to prepare a thermoplastic CFRP exhibiting excellent impregnation properties while uniformly mixing the conductive filler. Various carbon-based conductive fillers such as carbon black, carbon nanotubes, graphene nanoplatelets, graphite, and pitch-based carbon fibers were filled up to the maximum content, and electrical and thermal conductive properties of the fabricated composites were compared and studied. It was confirmed that the maximum incorporation of filler was the most important factor to control the conductive properties of the composites rather than the type or shape of the conductive carbon filler. Experimental results were observed in which it might be advantageous to apply a one-dimensional conductive carbon filler to improve electrical conductivity, whereas it might be advantageous to apply a two-dimensional conductive carbon filler to improve thermal conductivity. The results of this study can provide potential insight into the optimization of structural design for controlling the conductive properties of thermoplastic CFRPs.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the breast tool to improve the diagnostic value of the image in the breast examination. Breast tool was made of using FRP. And then it was compared by radioactivity counting rate and image. In the evaluation of the Breast tool, the left and right counts per $1{\mu}Ci$ are 185 counts and 189 counts, respectively. The image obtained in the prone position was close to the circle. To increase diagnostic value of image, it is considered to use Breast-tool in the breast examination.

  • Adhesive joints are widely used for structural joining applications in various fields and environmental conditions. Polyurethane adhesive is using for LNG carrier with cryogenic temperature condition. Even if similar polyurethane adhesive is used for different substrate, it shows different adhesion properties. Specially, variation of adhesion properties depending on the resin system or fiber is very important factor for selection of adhesive on industrial application. In present study, we got different peel strength according to the different test temperature when different polyurethane adhesive was used for same fiber reinforced composite. The main cause was investigated using by SEM and it was proven that the different adhesion property between glass fiber on composite surface and polyurethane adhesives at cryogenic temperature.

  • The characteristics of tool wear and the machinability in cutting of GFRP have been studied. The wear behavior of carbide insert tools(P20, M10, K10) and Cermet in TiC grade was studied by turning of changing the cutting condition. Machinability could be estimated as the following empirical formula, CT$^{n}$ =W The main results obtained are as follows: (1) Dependence of rate of tool wear on cutting speed; with increases of cutting speed, the rate of tool wear initially increases gradually(1st range), then it increases proportionally to cutting speed(2nd range), and finally the rate is constant(3rd range). (2) When the contact length has a main, effect on tool wear, the cutting speed does nit affect the tool wear. On the contrary, the cutting speed has a main effect on tool wear, the contact length does not affect the tool wear. (3) The order of machinability is K10, M10, P20 and Cermet in TiC grade.

  • Recently, In the domestic is used mainly fiberglass reinforced plastic(GRP) and is built for maritime leisure vessel & structures. but it less attention is insufficient for ship of structural strength assessment of maritime leisure vessel. Therefore, The structural strength evaluation suitable for the domestic situation formulate and is applied to domestic regulations of "Guidance for Recreational Crafts" of Korea register of shipping(KR) & "Reinforced plastic line structure standards" of Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. the structural design and finite element analysis(FEA) to ensure the reliability.
