A polypropylene fraction collected from the stream of post-consumer plastics was pyrolyzed. The aim of this study is to observe the dependence of yield of BTEX-aromatics normally used as solvent on the reaction temperature. To reach the goal, three experiments were carried out at different temperature between 650 and $700^{\circ}C$, using a fluidized bed reactor that shows an excellent heat transfer. In the experiments, product gases were used as a fluidizing medium to maximize the amount of BTEX-aromatics at fixed flow rate and feed rate during the pyrolysis. Oil, gas and char were obtained as product fractions. Product gases were analyzed with GCs(TCD, FID) and with a GC-MS system for qualitative analysis. For an accurate analysis of product oil, the product oil was distilled under vacuum, and separated the distillation residues from oil fractions that were actually analyzed with a GC-MS system. As the reaction temperature went higher, the content of BTEX-aromatics increased. The maximal yield of BTEX-aromatics was obtained at $695^{\circ}C$ with a value of about 30%. The main compounds of product gas were $CH_4$, $C_2H_4$, $C_2H_6$, $C_3H_6$, $C_4H_{10}$ and the product gas had an higher heating value about 45MJ/kg. It could be used as a heat source for a pyrolysis plant or for other fuel applications.

In this study, the effect of cyclic wetting-drying on the self-healing of cementitious materials containing superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) were experimentally evaluated. In each cycle, cracked cement paste specimens containing various SAP dosages were exposed to wet conditions for 1 h, during which the capillary water absorption tests and water flow tests were conducted, and then exposed to dry conditions for 47 h. The capillary water absorption test results showed that the sorptivity values of the specimen without SAPs, SAP 0.5%, SAP 1.0%, and SAP 1.5% specimens were decreased by approximately 22.9%, 36.8%, 42.8%, and 46.3%, respectively, after 8 cycles. In addition, the water flow test results showed that the amount of water runoff through the cracks of all cracked specimens gradually decreased over wet/dry cycles, especially the reduction ratio of the amount of water runoff increased with increasing SAP dosage. Furthermore, the swelling behavior of SAPs in cracks by in gress water was con firmed via X-ray computed tomography (CT) analysis. These results indicate that the effective crack width can be reduced as SAPs absorb water and swell, while the water absorbed in SAPs can be released to crack surfaces under dry conditions, further promoting healing product formation. This study demon strates that the in corporation of SAPs can in crease the water tightness of cracks, thereby improving the self-healing efficiency of cementitious materials.
The multiphase flow simulator, CHEMPS, was developed based on the fractional flow approach reported in the petroleum engineering literature considering fully three phase flow in physically and chemically heterogeneous media. It is a extension of MPS developed by Suk and Yeh (2008) to include the effect of wettability on the migration of NAPL. The fractional flow approach employs water, total liquid saturation and total pressure as the primary variables. Most existing models are limited to two-phase flow and specific boundary conditions when considering physically heterogeneous media. In addition, these models focused mainly on the water-wet media. However, in a real system, variations in wettability between water-wet and oil-wet media often occur. Furthermore, the wetting of porous media by oil can be heterogeneous, or fractional, rather than uniform due to the heterogeneous nature of the subsurface media and the factors that affect the wettability. Therefore, in this study, the chemically heterogeneous media considering fractional wettability as well as physically heterogeneous media were simulated using CHEMPS. In addition, the general boundary conditions were considered to be a combination of two types of boundaries of individual phases, flux-type and Dirichlet type boundaries.

Waste plastic differs in its speed of combustion owing to its variety in composition as well as kinds of plastic. This study is aimed at examining the thermal weight analysis and determination of its kinetics in order to derive the design element in pyrolysis of RPF (Refused Plastic Fuel) as the plastic solid fuel. Based on the result of TGA (Thermogravimetric analysis), kinetic characteristics were analyzed by using Kissinger method which are the most common method for obtaining activation energy, and experimental conditions of TGA were set as follows: in a nitrogen atmosphere, gas flow rate of 20 ml/min, heating rate of $5{\sim}50^{\circ}C/min$, and maximum hottest temperature of $800^{\circ}C$. The method used for determining the property of waste plastic when thermally decomposed was thought feasible as the basic data in deciding the performance, design, and optimal operating condition of the reactor in the actual reactor.
In the present study, the possibility of recovering and recycling the silicon carbide(SiC) from a silicon sludge by removing Fe and Si impurities was investigated. Si and SiC were separated from the silicon sludge using centrifugation. The separated SiC concentrate consisted of Fe, Si and SiC, in which Fe and Si were removed to recover the pure SiC. Leaching with acid/alkali solution was compared with the vapor-phase chlorination. The Fe concentration removed in the SiC was 49 ppm, and it was separated by leaching with 1 M HCl solution at $80^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The Si concentration removed in the SiC was 860 ppm, and it was separated by leaching with 1M NaOH solution at $50^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The SiC concentrate was chlorinated in a tubular reactor, 2.4 cm in diameter and 32 cm in length. The boat filled with SiC concentrate was located at the midpoint of the alumina tube, then, the chlorine and nitrogen gas mixture was introduced. The Fe and Si concentration removed in the SiC were 48 ppm and 405 ppm, respectively, at $500^{\circ}C$ reactor temperature, 4 h reaction time, 300 cc/min gas flow rate, and 10% $Cl_2$ gas mole fraction.
For the purpose of optimizing the counter current extraction process for separation of [Sm] and [Pr, Nd] group in hydrochloric acid solution using Cyanex 572 as an extractant, the theory of Xu Guangxian was derived for calculating the optimized extraction factors. From the basic batch test result, the separation factor of [Sm]/[Pr, Nd] was 14.59 at pH 1.75 in extraction process and 14.61 at 0.01 M HCl in scrubbing process. The process parameters can be calculated using a theory of optimum extraction ratio. From the result of calculation, the total extraction and scrubbing stage numbers at counter current process were 11 and for maintain extraction ratio the flow rate ratio of feed solution, solvent solution, scrubbing solution was 6.25 : 1.74 : 5.80 using 0.1 M HCl.
For the reasonable use of low grade-shallow geothermal energy by Standing Column Well(SCW) system, the basic requirements are depth-wise increase of earth temperature like $2^{\circ}C$ per every 100m depth, sufficient amount of groundwater production being about 10 to 30% of the design flow rate of GSHP with good water quality and moderate temperature, and non-collapsing of borehole wall during reinjection of circulating water into the SCW. A closed loop type-vertical ground heat exchanger(GHEX) with $100{\sim}150m$ deep can supply geothermal energy of 2 to 3 RT but a SCW with $400{\sim}500m$ deep can provide $30{\sim}40RT$ being equivalent to 10 to 15 numbers of GHEX as well requires smaller space. Being considered as an alternative of vertical GHEX, many numbers of SCW have been widely constructed in whole country without any account for site specific hydrogeologic and geothermal characteristics. When those are designed and constructed under the base of insufficient knowledges of hydrgeothermal properties of the relevant specific site as our current situations, a bad reputation will be created and it will hamper a rational utilization of geothermal energy using SCW in the near future. This paper is prepared for providing a guideline of SCW design comportable to our hydrogeothermal system.

The study aims that high quality recycled sand by wet manufacturing system can be used in practical way through basic material property. The basic material property test was done by 4 categories, dry manufacturing system (1) tandem and (2) parallel, wet manufacturing system (3) large capacity and (4) small capacity. RS-IV is the final production of (1) to (4) method, it is tested via KS F 2573 (recycled fine aggregate). RS-IV is satisfied with 4 items, those are absolute dry density, 0.08mm sieve throughput, clay lump amount, and organic impurity substance content. However, absorptivity item has problem in (1) and (2) method, (3) and (4) method are confirmed with norms 5% low. Also, the production quality of wet manufacturing system is better than dry manufacturing system in absolute dry density, absorptivity, 0.08mm sieve throughput, and clay lump amount.

This study conducted a series of studies to find alternative ways to use Chlorine Bypass System-dust(CBS-dust) in cement production. The results of engineering characteristics of CBS-dust are summarized as follows. First of all, the density of CBS-dust is 2.40, lighter than cement and the pH was 12.50 which was strong alkaline. In terms of particle size, it was 11.70 ㎛ which was finer than cement. With chemical properties, calcium oxide(CaO) was the highest as 35.10%, potassium oxide(K2O) was 32.43%, potassium chloride(KCl) was 19.46%, sulfur oxide(SO3) was 6.81%, and the remaining chemical components are SiO2, Fe2O3, Al2O3, MgO, and the like. Therefore, if CBS-dust is used as early-strength chemical admixtures in the concrete secondary products that use a large amount of mineral admixtures without rebar, it can be an effective method for increasing the strength of concrete as an alkali activator and preventing early-frost damage of Cold Weather Concrete.
