Curing and Coating Properties of Photo-Curable Self-Photoinitiating Acrylate (광경화형 자가광개시 아크릴레이트의 경화특성 및 도막물성)

  • Self-photoinitiating acrylate (SPIA) which can undergo self-initiation under UV irradiation was synthesized by a Michael addition in the presence of a base catalyst. The SPIA polymerizations were investigated by photo-differential scanning calorimeter (photo-DSC) and surface physical properties such as pendulum hardness and pencil hardness. The results showed that the SPIA can cure upon UV irradiation by itself without a photoinitiator. But we found out that both the curing rate and the conversion were too low for the self-curing reaction of SPIA. In order to improve the SPIA curing properties, we introduced the SPIA/cationic hybrid system and observed the effects of the addition of commercial free radical type monomer and photoinitiator on the curing behaviors. SPIA/cationic hybrid system was the best suitable to improve the SPIA curing properties. The kinetic analysis indicated that the cationic monomer and photoinitiator apparently accelerated the cure reaction and rate of the hybrid SPIA system, mostly due to the synergistic effect of cationic monomer and photoinitiator increasing the mobility of active species and the generation of reactive species (free radical, cation) during the photopolymerization process. The physical properties showed that, unlike typical free radical system, the hybrid systems did not show oxygen inhibition effect because of cationic reaction on the coating surface.

  • In this study, an elastomer-assistered compression molding process was investigated by experiments as well as modeling for the long-fiber reinforced thermoset composites. The consolidation pressure generated by fixed-volume and variable-volume conditions was thermodynamically derived for both elastomer and curing prepregs, and was compared with the pressure measured during curing of epoxy matrix. Exhibiting non-linear viscoelastic characteristics in the compressive stress-strain tests, the measured stress was well compared with a modifed KWW (Kohlrausch-Williame-Watts) equation, which is based on the Maxwell viscoelastic model. Using the developed model equations, the consolidation pressure generated by the elastomer was successfully predicted for the compression molding process of thermoset composite materials in tile closed mold system.

  • 유도가열은 전자기 유도 현상을 이용하여 금속체를 직접 가열하는 방식이며 높은 변환 효율로 전기에너지를 열에너지로 변환할 있다. 이로 인해 금속의 단조, 용해, 표면경화, 풀림 등 여러 응용분야를 통해 철강 및 기계 산업에 기여하고 있다. 단조용 유도가열기 전원장치는 높은 전력용량을 사용하여 주로 SCR을 이용한 위상제어 정류기를 적용한다. 하지만 입력단의 저 역률 및 전류의 THD가 높은 단점을 가진다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 보안하기 위해 단조용 유도가열 작업에 맞는 인터리브드 방식의 벅 컨버터와 전류원 인버터를 사용한 고효율 유도가열 전원장치를 제안한다.

Preparation of UV-Curable Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Hard Coating Films Using Alumina Sols and Acrylate Monomers (알루미나 졸과 아크릴레이트 단량체를 이용한 UV경화형 유-무기 하이브리드 하드코팅 막 제조)

  • In this study, UV-curing type organic - inorganic hybrid hard coating solutions were prepared from alumina sols and acrylate monomers. The mixture of alumina sols, prepared from aluminum isopropoxide, and a silane coupling agent, methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane(MPTMS), was used as an inorganic component. Also, the mixture of acrylate monomers, pentaerythritol triacrylate(PETA), 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate(HDDA) and dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate (DPEHA), was used as an organic component. The organic-inorganic hybrid coating solutions were obtained by mixing the inorganic component and organic component, deposited on polycarbonate substrates by spin coating and densified by UV-curing. The effect of the amount of MPTMS in the inorganic component and the irradiation time during UV-curing was studied on the properties of coating films. As a result, when 0.20 mole of MPTMS was used, the pencil hardness of coated films showed an excellent pencil hardness of 3H and also exhibited a good abrasion resistance of 2% in haze.

Preparation and Characterization of Hybrid Ozone Resistance Coating Film Using Carbon Nanotube (탄소나노튜브를 이용한 하이브리드 내오존성 코팅 막의 제조 및 특성)

  • The effect of synthesis conditions such as carbon nanotube (CNT), 2,2,2-trifluoroethylmethacrylate (3FMA), and composition of organic-inorganic material in ozone resistance and surface characteristics of ultraviolet cured organic-inorganic hybrid coating film has been investigated. Coating solution was prepared using tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), silane coupling agent methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS), 3FMA, various organic materials with acrylate group, and CNT, then bar-coated on substrates using applicator, and densified by UV-curing. It was found that ozone resistance and adhesion of the coating film were strongly dependent upon contents of TEOS, 3FMA, and CNT. Especially, ozone resistance, adhesion, and surface hardness of coating film with CNT were improved, relatively. Ozone resistance of coating film with a high TEOS content was increased, but adhesion was decreased. In addition, it was also found that ozone resistance of coating film was increased with contents of 3FMA. On the other hand, surface hardness was decreased with increase of 3FMA.

Study on Hardening Depth by Induction Hardening Analysis of Sprocket Using FEA and Experiment Results (유한요소해석을 통한 스프라켓의 유도경화 해석과 실험에 의한 경화 깊이에 대한 연구)

  • High frequency induction heating (HFIH) is used in many industries and has a number of advantages, including reliability and repeatability. It is a non-contact method of providing energy-efficient heat in the minimum amount of time without using a flame. Recently, HFIH has been actively studied using the finite element method (FEM), however, these studies only focused on the accuracy of the analysis. In this paper, we can measure joule heat distributions by the electromagnetic analysis for HFIH and the temperature distribution from the heat transfer analysis by applying joule heat for a sprocket. The sprocket is heated over $850^{\circ}C$ due to joule heat and then cooled to under $200^{\circ}C$ by using cooling $20^{\circ}C$ water. These processes were used to calculate the FEM and then compared to our experimental results. The calculated outcome may be used to predict hardening depth in HFIH.

Preparation of UV-curable Ozone Resistance Coating Solutions using Fluoromonomer (불소 단량체를 이용한 자외선 경화형 내 오존성 코팅 막 제조)

It was found that ozone resistance and surface hardness of the coating film was increased with contents of TEOS. It was also found that ozone resistance of coating film was increased with contents of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylmethacrylate. On the other hand, surface hardness was decreased with increase of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylmethacrylate. In addition, Surface hardness of coating film was increased with the addition of aliphatic urethane acrylate. It was also found that the transmittance of coating films was not influenced by content of TEOS and 2,2,2-trifluoroethylmethacrylate. In addition, the coating film exhibited high transmittance of above 90%.

  • 우리나라의 당뇨병 유병률은 경제발전과 식생활의 급속한 서구화로 빠른 속도로 증가하고 있다. 특히 당뇨병은 유병기간이 길수록 여러 합병증을 초래하는데 그 중 하나가 혈관경화증이다. 혈관 경화증은 신체 부위별로 그 진행 속도가 다르다. 광혈류측정법(PPG, photoplethysmogram)은 간편한 혈류량 측정방법으로 PPG 2차 미분 방법을 이용해서 혈관의 경화도를 진단할 수 있다. 이러한 PPG 2차 미분방법을 이용하여 당뇨병환자의 왼손과 오른손의 말초혈관 탄성도 차이를 정상인과 비교해 보았다. 실험결과 당뇨병환자와 정상인의 양 손가자 말초혈관 탄성도의 유의한 차이를 확인 할 수 있었다.

Caspase-8 Potentiates Triglyceride (TG)-Induced Cell Death of THP-1 Macrophages via a Positive Feedback Loop (Caspase-8의 양성 피드백 방식을 통한 중성지방-유도 THP-1 대식세포 사멸 증가)

  • Hypertriglyceridemia is the main risk factor for atherosclerosis. It is reported that triglyceride (TG) induces macrophage cell death, and is involved in the formation of plaques and development of atherosclerosis. We previously reported that TG-induced cell death of macrophages is mediated via pannexin-1 activation, which increases the extracellular ATP and subsequent increase in potassium efflux, thereby activating the caspase-2/caspase-1/apoptotic caspases, including the caspase-8 pathway. Contrarily, some studies have reported that caspase-8 is an upstream molecule of caspase-1 and caspase-2 in several cellular processes. Therefore, this study was undertaken to investigate whether caspase-8 influences its upstream molecules in TG-stimulated macrophage cell death. We first confirmed that caspase-8 induces caspase-3 activation and poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) cleavage in TG-treated macrophages. Next, we determined that the inhibition of caspase-8 results in reduced caspase-1 and -2 activity, which are upstream molecules of caspase-8 in TG-induced cell death of macrophages. We also found that ATP treatment restores the caspase-8 inhibitor-induced caspase-2 activity, thereby implying that caspase-8 affects the upstream molecules responsible for increasing the extracellular ATP levels in TG-induced macrophage cell death. Taken together, these findings indicate that caspase-8 potentiates the TG-induced macrophage cell death by activating its upstream molecules.
