Identification and Characterization of Fibrinolytic Compound from Cornus officinalis S. et Z (산수유(Cornus officinalis)로부터 혈전용해물질의 확인 및 특성 연구)

  • The objective of this study was to identify and characterize fibrinolytic compound from Cornus officinalis. Cornus officinalis. Hot water extract was fractionated into hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, butanol, and water fractions. Assays for fibrinolytic activity indicated that only the ethyl acetate fraction had significant efficacy at 1.36 plasmin units/mL. Isolation of fibrinolytic compound was carried out on Amberlite IRA-400, Sephadex LH-20 and active charcoal column chromatography. HPLC analysis of the purified fibrinolytic compound showed retention time (RT) same as authentic malic acid. LC / MS / MS in negative mode showed the same peak at m/z 133, confirming that the purified compound was malic acid with a molecular weight 134 Da. The compound showed fibrinolytic activity of 0.69 plasmin units/mL, 14.62% of thrombin inhibitory activity, 6.42% of antioxidative activity, and 17.28% of α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. The purified compound hydrolyzed γ subunits of human fibrinogen. In conclusion, malic acid isolated from Cornus officinalis might have potential to be developed as ingredient for biofunctional foods to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

  • There are several kinds of displays such as liquid crystal display (LCD), cathode ray tube (CRT), plasma display panel(PDP), light emitting diode (LED), organic light emitting diode (OLED), etc. Nowadays, recycling technologies of waste displays have been widely studied from economy and efficiency points of view. In this paper, patents and literature on the recycling technologies of the waste displays have been comprehensively analyzed. The search was limited to the open patents of USA (US), European Union (EU), Japan (JP), and Korea (KR) and SCI journals published from 1980 to 2011. Patents and journals were systematically compiled and collected using key-words search and filtered by pre-set filtering criteria. The trends of the patents and journals were thus analyzed according to the years, countries, companies, and technologies.

  • Stripping experiments of iron from the loaded Alamine336 by sulfurous, chloric and sulfuric acid solutions have been performed by varying the concentration of acid and stripping conditions. The stripping percentage of iron decreased with the increase of HCl and $H_{2}SO_4$ concentration, while that increased with the increase of $H_{2}SO_3$ concentration up to 3 M. Stripping temperature had adverse effect on the stripping percentage of iron in the stripping by $H_{2}SO_3$ solution, while the stripping percentage of iron by HCl solution increased with the increase of temperature. Stripping isotherm of iron by 0.1 M HCl and 0.1 M $H_{2}SO_4$ solution indicated that three and four stripping stages could result in a solution containing 0.05 M iron at an O/A ratio of 1/10 from the loaded Alamine336 phase where iron concentration was 0.5 M.

A Study on the Synthesis of Aluminum Oxalate from Aluminum Hydroxide (수산화(水酸化)알루미늄으로부터 Aluminum Oxalate의 합성(合成) 연구(硏究))

  • The synthesis of aluminum oxalate, one of the aluminum organic compounds, has been performed using aluminum hydroxide as a raw material. For this aim, domestic aluminum hydroxide of 99.7% purity was dissolved by oxalic acid to produce an aqueous aluminum solution. As a result, it was found that aluminum hydroxide could be dissolved almost completely by the reaction with 1.0 mole/l oxalic acid solution at $90^{\circ}C$ for 16 hr. It was strongly required to keep the ratio of ethanol/Al solution more than 2.0 for the synthesis of aluminum oxalate from the aluminum solution. Furthermore, the pH should be controlled to be more than 8.2 in order to obtain the recovery of aluminum oxalate higher than 90%. From the chemical analysis of aluminum oxalate prepared in this work, the content of $NH_4$, Al and C was found to be 14.5, 7.18 and 17.4%, respectively. Accordingly, the aluminum oxalate synthesized from the aluminum solution was confirmed to be $(NH_4)_3Al(C_2O_4)_3$ $3H_2O$.

  • High strength concrete has a structural advantage as well as superior usability and durability, so that its application in building is being steadily augmented. However, in the high temperature like in a fire, the high strength concrete has extreme danger named explosive spalling. It is known that the major cause of explosive spalling is water vapour pressure inside concrete. General solution for preventing concrete from spalling include applying fire protection coats to concrete in order to control the rising temperature of members in case of fire. The purpose of this study is to investigate the high temperature properties of fireproof mortar using organic fiber and various types of fine aggregate for fire protection covering material. The results showed that addition of perlite and polypropylene fiber to mortar modifies its pore structure and reduces its density. This causes the internal temperature to rise. As a results, it is found that a new fireproof mortar can be used in the fire protection covering material in high strength concrete.

  • The application of constructed subsurface-flow wetlands for treatment of wastewater from abandoned mines is being increased. Crushed limestone, oak chips, and mushroom composites are often employed in a bulk form, as the substrates in the bed media. Efficiency of the subsurface-flow treatment system drops with time as the hydraulic conductivity of the wetland soil decreases significantly, presumably due to chemical reactions with the wastewater. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of immobilized beads carrying sulfate reducing bacteria for acid mine drainage treatment system. The ingredients of immobilized beads are organic materials such as mushroom composite and oak chips, limestone powder for a pH buffer, mixed with a modified Coleville Synthetic Brine. It was found that immobilized beads are more efficient than the bulk form for pH recovery, sulfate and heavy metal removal.

Effect of Surfactant Concentration and pH on Surfactant-Enhanced Remediation in lowa Soil Contaminated by TCB (삼염화벤젠으로 오염된 아이오와토양의 복원시 계면활성제의 농도와 pH의 영향)

  • Column tests were carried out to examine the effect of surfactant solution conditions on surfactant-enhanced remediation of contaminated soil. The selected conditions of the surfactant solution were concentration and pH. 1,2,4-trichlo-robenzene (TCB) was chosen as the model hydrophobic organic substances. Sodium diphenyl oxide disulfonate (DOSL) and octylphenoxypoly ethoxyethanol (OPEE) surfactants were selected for this study. Two Iowa soils, Fruitfield sand and Webster clay loam, were leached with surfactant solution. The test results revealed that an optimum condition was achieved for 4 %(v/v) of concentration and 10 of pH, respectively. The maximum recoveries of added TCB (93-98%) were obtained when optimal conditions of each surfactant solution parameter were simultaneously met. The optimum conditions of these parameters may be useful for surfactant-assisted remediation in soil contaminated by TCB.

  • Hot water extracts of Chlorella capsulata(CCE) is a biological response modifier (BRM) which exhibits neuronal differentiation activity. The effect of CCE on the growth of nerve cells, PC12 was observed as follows: The viable cell density in adding CCE was increased up to 2.5 times, compare to that in no addition. The neurite of the cells was also lengthened up to 40 $\mu\textrm{m}$ longer than 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in no addition. The number of neurite-bearing cells were about four times higher than that in no addition.

Comparing the Usages of Vocabulary by Medias for Disaster Safety Terminology Construction (재난안전 용어사전 구축을 위한 미디어별 어휘 사용 양상 비교)

  • The rapid response of disaster accidents can be archived through the organical involvement of various disaster and safety control agencies. To define the terminology of disaster safety is essential for communication between disaster safety agencies and well as announcement for the public. Also, to efficiently construct a word dictionary of disaster safety terminology, it's necessary to define the priority of the terms. In order to establish direction of word dictionary construction, this paper compares the usage of disaster safety terminology by media: word dictionary, new media, and social media, respectively. Based on the terminology resources collected from each media, we visualized the distribution of terminology according to frequency weights and analyzed co-occurrence patterns. We also classified the types of terminology into four categories and proposed the priority in the construction of disaster safety word dictionary.

  • The introduction of virtualization technology in the broadcasting field is actively progressing broadcasting service automation and intelligence based on the effective operation of IT resources throughout the broadcasting industry ecosystem. In recent years, there is increasing interest in increasing the flexibility of various broadcasting resources and increasing the efficiency of interworking with other networks through network virtualization of the broadcasting network infrastructure. The fundamental transformation from the broadcasting network to the IP paradigm is facing a situation where it is necessary to solve various problems for the effective interworking of Internet-based service platforms and 5G networks and the development of new convergence services. In other words, for organic and effective interworking with the next-generation broadcasting network represented by ATSC 3.0, a mobile communication network represented by 5G, and the Internet, a number of difficulties must be solved. In this paper, the basic technology and status for the convergence of ATSC 3.0 broadcasting network and mobile communication network represented by 5G was examined, and a plan for the ATSC 3.0 broadcasting network and 5G network to interwork with each other as a network was described.
