Production and Biodegradability of Biodiesel from Balanites Aegyptiaca Seed Oil (Balanites Aegyptiaca 씨기름으로부터 바이오디젤의 생산과 생분해성 연구)

  • Seed oil of Balanites aegyptica was transesterified to produce biodiesel and its quality and biodegradability assessed. The specific gravity (SG), density and flash point of the methyl esters were found to be 0.897, 0.89 g/$cm^3$ and $163^{\circ}C$ respectively. Biodegradability of the biodiesel assessed by the standard $CO_2$ evolution method using two different inoculums revealed that the Balanites aegyptica biodiesel was readily biodegradable in both inoculums (82.58% and 86.98%), compared with the $D_2$ diesel which was partially biodegradable (27.02% and 27.33%). These suggest that Balanites aegyptiaca seed oil is a potential source of environmentally friendly biodiesel.

  • Recently, as multi-platform game environments become common, many games of convergence genre have been produced, and the boundaries of genre division by existing platforms have become blurred. The game genre is convergence content consisting of user-centered 'narrative and play'. In this paper, we propose a game genre classification according to the user 's behavior type based on the essential recognition that the subject of the game is the user. The user's actions are done in different genres and goals and rules, and the interaction is an important act for immersion. Therefore, the user's behavioral classification and perception by the game genre are important and expected to help redefine the game structure.

  • Walking training is one of the most important rehabilitation processes with paralysis patient. Walking training by using an orthosis can help advancing a patient's independent level. However, existing orthoses have some serious demerit of mechanical problem that the knee joint is locked in the state where it is completely extended, which increases energy consumption and fatigue. For this reason, it is suggested, for more practical orthosis, that the knee joint should be placed and it should have capability of suspending patient's weight. In this paper, 1-DOF walking orthosis which compensates the demerit of the existing orthosis and secures patient's mobility has been proposed. New orthosis has been designed under the following two premises. First, the knee joint of the orthosis was designed fold in order for the orthosis to move in a walking pattern similar to that of a normal person. Second, the knee joint was designed to extend during the swing phase and lock safely during the stance phase.

  • This paper presents the design of a lab-built powered knee prosthesis based on a BLDC motor, a sensored impedance control using a force sensor, and a sensorless impedance control through torque estimation. Firstly, we describe the structure of the lab-built powered knee prosthesis and its limitations. Secondly, we decompose the gait cycle into five stages and apply the position-based impedance control for the powered knee prosthesis. Thirdly, we perform an experiment for the torque estimation and the sensorless impedance control of the prosthesis. The experimental results show that we can use the torque estimation to control the low impedance during the swing phase, although the estimated torque data has a delay compared with the measured torque by a load cell.

  • In this study, swing phase dynamic simulation of above-knee prosthesis is performed. The prosthesis consists of a single axis knee mechanism and pneumatic cylinder. The numerical modelling of the prosthesis is analyzed in two dimensions. The governing equation of thermodynamical pneumatic cylinder model is applied to construct the control of lower limb during swing phase. Knee flexion angle with respect to the orifice diameter of the pneumatic cylinder is produced. This analysis will be very useful to the design of pneumatic cylinder in prosthesis.

  • 오늘날 웹 상에는 수 많은 온라인 커뮤니티들이 존재하고, 그 안에서 유저들이 올린 게시글(이하 포스트)를 효과적으로 검색하는 것은 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 만약 검색하는 유저들이 각기 다른 성향을 갖고 있다면 그에 맞는 검색 결과를 제공하는 것이 효과적인 검색의 한 예라 할 수 있겠다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 유저 성향 기반의 효과적인 검색을 위하여 유저의 "전문성"과 "대중성"을 정의하고 그에 기반한 포스트 랭킹을 한다. 또한 서로 다른 유저의 성향은 매우 다른 검색 결과를 나타낸다는 우리의 주장을 실험결과로 뒷받침 한다.

  • In this study, the patterns and characteristics according to gait cycle were analyzed using to EMG signals during walking, and analyzed in the time domain and frequency domain. The experiments was performed divide to level-ground walking and stair walking, and gait cycle was analysis by stance and swing. In the sagittal plane by using the tilt sensor measures the angle of the lower leg, and EMG was measured from the quadriceps and biceps femoris. The tilt of the lower leg was showed the biggest tilt at HS, and showed lowest value at TO. All in walking according to the gait cycle IEMG showed a specific pattern, and is expected useful to determine the gait cycle and kind. In the frequency domain analysis was using STFT on able to frequency analysis according to time, and using the tilt sensor was identify gait cycle. We analyzed also spectrum of the results of the STFT in all gait types, and recognized that stance had broad bandwidth than that of swing. Through this study, it was confirmed the possibility of judgment and analysis of the gait cycle using EMG and the tilt in the sagittal plane of the lower leg. When used it, can improve the quality of life of amputation patients

Kinetic Analysis of The foot and ankle during walking (보행시 발과 족관절의 운동학적 분석)

  • Purpose : This study shows the movements of the ankle and the foot in walking stages, and helps to diagnose and treat the problems of the ankle and the foot. The foot in human is a mean of the transportation, body support, and shock absorber. However, the slightest changes in the anatomical position can cause a significant increase of the stress and force in the ankle and the foot. The regular compressive force in the ankle of the normal person is generated by the contraction of the gastrocnemius and popliteus muscles, and transmitted to the achilles tendon. The plantar flexion about 10 degrees occurs immediately after the heel strike, getting ready for the weight acceptance. The shear force about 80 % of the body weight is generated immediately after the heel off of the mid stance phase. In those who have a problem in the ankle, the compression force at the ankle decreased to 1/3 of the body weight, and the shear force decreased, and the compressive force was reached at their maximum level earlier than the normal people. Conclusion : Analysis of the movements at the ankle and the foot in walking phase can make the effort to diagnose and treat the ankle and foot with the problems. However, the further study is necessary.

Effect of Evodiae fructus Methanol Extract on Virulence-Related Genes' Expression of Helicobacter pylori (오수유 메탄올 추출물이 Helicobacter pylori 병원성 관련 유전자 발현에 미치는 영향)

  • Helicobacter pylori, a gram-negative bacterium, is one of the risk factors that induces gastritis and gastric cancer. Therefore, much attention has been paid to the compounds that inhibit bacterial growth or eradicate bacteria. Evodiae fructus (EF), the fruit of Evodia rutaecarpa, has been used for treating diarrhea and abdominal pain. EF extract was already found to inhibit the growth of H. pylori. However, to the best of our knowledge, the effect of EF on the virulence factors of H. pylori has not been reported. In this study, when comparing the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the different methanol concentration extracts, the 95% methanol extract (EF95) showed the lowest MIC value. EF95 extract suppressed the expressions of cagA, vacA and ureB, but interestingly, it up-regulated the expression of ureA. A decrease in production of ammonia in the culture medium and the cell lysates indicated that EF95 inhibited the urease activity in H. pylori, which was the result of EF95 inhibiting the ureB expression. Although the mechanism by which EF95 extract regulates the virulence factors in H. pylori needs further study, EF95 could be used for treatment of gastric troubles induced by H. pylori.

The Immediate Effects of the Toe Spreader on the Gait of Children With Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy (발가락 벌림 보조기가 양하지 뇌성마비 아동의 보행에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 발가락 벌림 보조기(toe spreader)가 긴장성 발가락 굽힘 반사(Tonic Toe Flexion Reflex: TTFR)가 있는 양하지 뇌성마비 아동의 보행에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 12명의 TTFR이 있는 양하지 뇌성마비 아동을 대상으로 같은 날에 맨발과 발가락 벌림 보조기를 착용한 상태에서 보행분석을 실시하였다. 시간 거리 보행변수로 활보장(step length), 보장(step length), 보폭(step width), 발가락 외전각도(toe out angle), 활보시간(stride), 입각기(stance phase), 유각기(swing phase), 분속수(cadence), 보행속도(speed)를 측정하였다. 발가락 벌림 보조기 착용 시 시간 거리 보행변수는 통계적으로는 유의한 차이가 없었다(p>.05). 양하지 뇌성마비 아동에서 TTFR을 억제하기 위한 발가락 벌림 보조기의 즉시적인 효과는 유의하지 않다고 볼 수 있으며, 추후연구로 장기간 일상생활에서의 지속적인 착용을 통한 연구가 필요하다고 본다.
