  • This study describes the design and implementation of EGSE for Dehop/Rehop Transponder. The EGSE is a equipment that evaluates Dehop/Rehop Transponder and requires precise and accurate measurement. EGSE consists of a PLDIU and IIU(Instrument Interface Unit), Up/Down converter for L band, Modems to verify the Dehop/Rehop Transponder. The EGSE was used for performance verification and space environment test such as thermal vacuum after developing Dehop/Rehop Transponder.

  • Severice allocation to satellite transponders under consideration of interference caused by inter-satellite and intra-satellite systems is one of the most important issue in terms of optimal usage of satellite network resource. In this paper, we present a new and show several simulation results to verify the proposed method. Especially, our concerns are concentrated on the cost (interference) matrix which is believed to be optimal in obtaining the service allocation plan. The method and concepts presented in this paper may be well applicable to making a plan for service assignment of the satellite communication systems.

  • This study is the analysis and verification process of the L-band satellite communications repeater thought PCB & circuit EM analysis. System performance can be vulnerable to various spurious inside the L-band satellite transponder, power conversion board, digital signal board, TM/TC board, such as control panels and blocks that are linked signal components when the winch is increased due to the noise component. So the whole system can cause performance degradation. PCB resonance analysis and EM simulation can be easily analyzed for a variety of optimal. Also, by setting the ports on the PCB, H/W designer wants to can easily analyze system.

  • Jamming is an important factor in the military satellite communication system. In this paper, link capacity and jamming margin of the DS-CDMA(Direct Sequence-Code Division Multiple Access) military satellite communication system are analyzed and calculated under a multitone jamming. The analysis was performed with two types of transponders loaded on a geosynchronous satellite. Calculation methods for link capacity and jamming margin were obtained. The results of the analysis show that capacity of a transponder which does modulation/demodulation, decoding/encoding in addition to despreading/respeading is twice as much as that of a tranponder which does despreading /respreading only.

  • Upon introducing satellite communication system to korea, one of the important problems to copy with is the effect from the probable intentional interference i. e. jamming. In this paper, we have considered the M any PSK signal and the soft limiter type, which contains hard limiter, nonhnear satellite transponder in environments of uplink tone or noise jamming plus Gaussian noise and downlink Gaussian noise. Using the derived error rate equation, we have evaluated numerically the error performance of BPSK and QPSK system, and shown in figures in terms of upink and downink earner to jamming rater(CJR) and limiting level. From the results we have known that tone jamming effect on the error performance in BPSK and QPSK signals in nonlinear satelhie shnnel become less with increasing the uplink CNR and with decreasing the liniting level. And in a tone jamming, the limiting level affects hardly on the error performance of both BPSK and QPSK signals. When limiting leveri is zero, BPSK and QPSK signals show the best error rate performance.

  • Since it would be almost impossible to recover and/or repair the satellite in space once it has been launched, a detailed analysis and design, manufacturing using the high quality workmanship, and qualification and acceptance tests in space-simulation environments are necessary for all satellite components prior to launch. Even though these efforts arc made, the failure can still occur. Therefore, redundancy should be considered in the satellite design for continuous operations in preparation for part or equipment failure. In this paper, the reliability analysis of the transponder, which is a payload of Communications & Broadcasting Satellite being developed by ETRI, was performed and compared for various design cases with different redundancies to find the optimal design. The optimal design has been finalized by investigating how the redundant components are composed from the viewpoint of technical performance measures, such as reliability, cost, schedule, and mass.

  • This paper describes the design and the test results of the receiver-downconverter module for a Ka-band Satellite Payload. The developed module is not only a downconverter that convert the signal of 30.6 GHz∼31.0 GHz to the signal of 20.8 GHz∼21.2 GHz but also is a receiver that has the function of low noise amplification in the front stage. It has been fabricated and tested by the qualified satellite component manufacturing process and it shows the best performance of the receiver-downconverter modules operating at Ka-band frequency up to date. The module has the performance of 1.9 dB-NF, 55 dB-Gain, and 58 dBc-C/I3 fur the two tone signals of -59 dBm input power respectively at ambient temperature. It is a small and light module with the size of 93 mm${\times}$84 mm${\times}$26 mm and the weight of 240 g.
