With the growth of the Internet, web-based cyber education is progressing from the text-based to the hyper-based including multimedia, and from one way of simply giving the contents to the learner to another way of providing mutual interaction between the instructor and the learner. For this, there uses the RIA-based dynamic application and multimedia. RIA, which is the new paradigm on the web, provides the learners with more effective and rich contents. For developing a cyber education system, if we use the existing web languages, a large amount of effort is needed. But if we use the RIA-based paradigm, we can remarkably reduce the effort. Also, in developing a new web-based cyber education system the RIA paradigm makes the learners to satisfy their demands, and in developing the system providing the interaction the paradigm gives us the way minimizing the time and effort. In this paper, we compare and evaluate the efforts in developing the RIA based education system with the Non-RIA based education system.

This paper presents a web-based virtual educational system for Java language, which consists of a management system named Java Web Player (JWP) and creative multimedia contents for the lectures of Java language. The JWP is a Java application program free from security problems by the Java Web Start technologies that supports an integrated learning environment including three important learning procedures: Java concept learning process, programming practice process and assessment process. On-line voice presentation and its related texts together with moving images are synchronized for efficiently conveying creative contents to learners. Furthermore, a simple and useful compiler is included in the JWP for providing user-friendly language practice environment enabling such as coding, editing, executing, and debugging Java source files on the Web. Finally, simple multiple choices are given suddenly to the learners while they are studying through the JWP and the test results are displayed on the message box. In order to show the validity of the proposed virtual educational system we analysed and assessed the learners' academic performance on the five quizzes for one semester.

This paper presents an internet-based self-learning educational system which can be enhancing efficiency in the learning process of Java language. The proposed self-learning educational system is called Java Web Player(JWP), which is a Java application program and is executable through Java Web Start technologies. Also, three important sequential learning processes : concept learning process, programming practice process and assessment process are integrated in the proposed JWP using Java Web Start technologies. This JWP enables the learners to achieve efficient and interesting self-learning since the learning process is designed to enhance the multimedia capabilities on the basis of various educational technologies. Furthermore, internet-based on-line voice presentation and its related texts together with moving images are synchronized for efficient language learning process. Also, a simple and useful Java compiler is included in the JWP for providing language practice environment such as coding, editing, executing and debugging Java source files. Finally, repeated practice can make the learners to understand easily the key concepts of Java language. Simple multiple choices are given suddenly to the learners while they are studying through the JWP and the test results are displayed on the message box. This assessment process is very essential to increase the learner's academic capability.

WBI (Web-Based Instruction), a web-based tool for teaching the students at a long distance, makes possible to Interact between learners and instructors, provides a wide variety of learning materials, has an advantage of overcoming spatial constraints. In this paper, as a model of using the web for education, a web-based education-evaluation system has been designed and implemented. Web-based education-evaluation system has to be equipped with both of the online setting question mode and the upload setting question mode, the former makes questions on web and the latter uploads the setted questions on offline with settling a defeat of the existing systems on setting questions. And the system has to be equipped with the function of analyzing the questions that gives teacher several kinds of analysis information and makes possible to feedback to questions by adjusting the difficulty and revising the questions. In this paper, a system that reflects the above requirements has been designed and implemented with PHP script language and MySQL database system.

XML은 언어정보의 재사용성 및 다른 유형의 정보로 변환이 용이하여 최근 그 사용이 급증하고 있다. 그러나 XML은 아직까지 일부 분야에 국한되어 이용되고 있으며, 국내에서도 XML을 실제 활용하여 개발되고 있는 시스템은 극히 미약하다. 본 연구에서는 XML의 이점을 살려 한글을 포함한 다국어간 언어학습 컨텐트를 쉽게 구성하고 가공할 수 있는 XML 문서 내의 다국어 표현 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 또한 다국어 정보를 웹 환경에서 구현하기 위한 XSL과 유사한 문서 변환 구조 및 이를 처리할 수 있는 XML 처리기의 구조에 대해서도 소개한다. 본 연구에서 소개하는 문서 변환 구조를 이용할 경우 문자로 표현 가능한 매체를 매개로 하여 다양한 멀티미디어 컨텐트를 쉽게 작성할 수 있다.

컴퓨터와 통신 기술이 발달한 정보화 사회의 현실에서 웹 기반의 프로그램 및 모바일은 중요한 매체로서 자리잡아가고 있다. 읽기는 정보 획득에서 가장 중요한 학습능력이나 학습장애아의 대부분이 읽기능력에서 문제를 가지고 있다. 오늘날 컴퓨터의 발달은 아동의 언어교육 특히 읽기 교육을 위해서 시간과 공간의 제약을 넘어 자주적으로 학습할 수 있는 모바일 활용 학습을 가능하게 하고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 학습장애아들의 읽기 능력을 향상하기 위한 PREP 기반의 모바일 시스템을 설계하는 데 있다. 본 시스템을 통해 첫째, 학습장애아들의 읽기 능력 프로그램이 특수교사, 일반교사, 학생과 상호협력 할 수 있는 프로그램을 제공함으로써 학습장애아의 읽기 능력에 대한 진전도를 점검하고 학습능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 설계하였다. 둘째, 학습자의 개별적 수준에 따라 수준별 학습을 제공하여 다양한 학생의 개별적 수준을 충족할 수 있도록 설계함으로써 학습장애아동의 읽기능력 향상에 기여할 수 있다. 셋째, 모바일 기기를 통해 공간적, 시간적 제약을 벗어남으로써 기존의 PREP 프로그램을 적용하는 것보다 효과적으로 읽기 능력을 향상시킬 수 있다.

RIA(Rich Internet Application), which. is the new paradigm of the web, provides clients with more effective and rich contents, combining the dynamic application and multimedia contents. With the existing web script language, a lot of time and efforts will be very needed to provide learners with various and rich contents. In this paper, we compare the efforts in developing the RIA based education system with the Non-RIA based education system, then experiment the characteristics of the RIA based education system

XML은 웹에서 구조화된 문서를 기술하는 전세계적인 표준 메타 언어로 정교한 검색을 지원하며, 쉽게 다른 목적으로 사용될 수 있다. Java는 다양한 플랫폼을 갖는 원격 학습 환경에서 효율적이면서도 안전하고 다양한 기능을 수행하는 시스템을 구현할 수 있게한다. 따라서 다양한 멀티미디어 구성요소들을 포함하는 코스웨어를 원격에서 교사들이 쉽게 개발하고 관리할 수 있는 XML 기반의 원격 코스웨어 제작 및 관리 시스템(X/RCAMS : SML-based Remote Courseware Authoring and Management System)을 Java 언어로 구현하기위하여 설계를 하였다. 이 시스템은 한 학교나 학습지 지역 분국에서 자신의 특성을 살리면서도 학습 정보의 상호 교류가 가능하며, 사용자가 사용하기 쉽고 사용자의 능동적인 참여를 유발할 수 있다.

The Web programming techniques like CGI and server-sided script languages such as ASP, PHP and JSP have been used for developing on-line Web-based learning systems on SQL. But, the systems developed by using those techniques are dependent on the platforms on which the target DBMS's are located. Therefore, they can be hardly reused and maintained. In addition, it is not easy for them to provide a learner with the feedback information on processing his/her query and to give a teacher an opportunity of monitoring and guiding learner's learning process. In this paper, we propose an SQL learning system on the Web by using Java Applet and JDBC, which is independent on the target DBMS's. Moreover, it gives feedback information on learner's queries so that a teacher can monitor the learning process and teach them efficiently.

Focused crawling은 검색시스템의 구축을 위한 웹 문서 수집단계에서, 미리 정의된 토픽 집합들과 관련성을 가지는 웹 문서를 수집하기 위하여 제안되었다. 이러한 focused crawling 연구에서 보다 효과적인 웹 문서 수집을 위해 주어진 토픽에 대한 양질의 배경지식을 제공할 수 있도록 온톨로지가 활발히 활용되어왔다. 그러나 기존의 온톨로지 기반 focused crawling 연구는 토픽과 웹 문서 간의 관련성 측정을 위하여, 주어진 토픽과 관련있는 온톨로지 내 각 개념들에 직관에 의존한 가중치를 부여하여 활용하였다. 하지만 이러한 직관에 의존한 가중치부여 기법은 안정된 수집결과를 도출할 수 있는 최적화된 가중치 값을 얻기가 힘든 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 개념에 대한 가중치가 학습에 의하여 자동으로 결정되도록, 인공신경망을 적용한 온톨로지 기반 focused crawling 기법을 제안한다. 웹 상에서 제안된 시스템의 성능을 실험한 결과 기존의 온톨로지 기반 수집 기법에 비하여 보다 향상된 결과를 보임을 알 수 있었다.
