Numerical Computation of Vertex Behind a Bluff Body in the Flow between Parallel Plates (평행평판 내의 지주에 의한 와동 유동에 관한 수치해석)

  • A computer program was developed to analyze the two-dimensional unsteady incompressible viscous flow behind a rectangular bluff body between two parallel plates. The Peaceman-Rachford alternating direction implicit numerical method and Wachspress parameter were adopted to solve the governing equations in vorticity-transport and stream function formulation. The steady state flow and the vortex flow behind a rectangular bluff body in a chemical were investigated for Reynolds numbers of 200 and 500. The vortex shedding was generated by a physical pertubation numerically imposed at the center of the flow field for a short time. It was observed that the perturbed flow became periodic after a transient period.

In-plane Free Vibrations of Horseshoe Circular Arch (마제형 원호 아치의 면내 자유진동)

  • This paper deals with in-plane free vibrations of the horseshoe circular arch. Simultaneous ordinary differential equations governing free vibration of the arch are derived with respect to the radial and tangential deformations. Particularly, differential equations are obtained under the arc length coordinate rather than the angular one in order to extend the horseshoe arch whose subtended angle is greater than ${\pi}$ radians. The differential equations are numerically solved for calculating the natural frequencies accompanying with the corresponding mode shapes. In parametric studies, effects of the rotatory inertia, slenderness ratio and circumferential arc length ratio on frequency parameters are extensively discussed.

  • A numerical model for unsteady dispersion of horizontal line source in turbulent shear flow is developed. A fractional step finite difference method is used which splits the unsteady two-dimensional advective diffusion equation into the longitudinal advection and the vertical diffusion equations, and solves them alternately for half time intervals by the Holly-Preissmann scheme and the Crank-Nicholson scheme, respectively. The developed numerical model is verified using a semi-analytic solution for steady dispersion in turbulent shear flow. Dispersion of an instantaneous plane source in turbulent shear flow is analyzed using the model. The degree of mixing at the same dimensionless time is almost the same regardless of the friction factor, and the travel distance required to reach a certain degree of mixing is inversely proportional to the square root of the friction factor.

  • Conformal mapping is useful to solve problems in physics, engineering and so on. This paper is to discuss the numerical conformal mapping from the unit disk onto Jordan region, which can be solved by Theodorsen equation. Wegmann's method has been known as the most efficient one for the Theodorsen equation. However, we found divergence through numerical experiments by the iterative method of Wegmann. The divergence occurs especially when some degree of difficulty is high. We analyze the cause of divergence and propose an improved method by applying a low frequency pass filter to Wegmann's method. By this proposed method we can get a stable convergence for all the problems which was unstable with the Wegmann's method.

  • 본 연구에서는 2차원 비선형 천수모형과 수심평균된 스칼라 이송모형을 해석하는 수치모형에 대해 기술하였다. 수치모형의 정확성을 보장함과 동시에 안정성을 높이기 위해 유한체적법, 플럭스 재구성 및 minmod 제한자를 사용하였다. 비선형 천수방정식의 이송항과 바닥 경사항은 계산된 수심의 양수 보존과 흐름의 정상 상태를 보장하기 위한 second order well-balanced positivity preserving central-upwind method를 이용하여 수치적으로 이산화되었다. 마찬가지로, 이송-확산 방정식 내 이송항은 동일한 2차 풍상차분법을 통해 수치적으로 풀이하였다. 격자점 경계면에서의 불연속으로 인한 수치진동을 방지하기 위해 이송항의 계산에 포함된 보존항의 차이로 인해 발생하는 스칼라의 수치확산을 최소화하기 위해 무차원의 비소산함수를 도입하였다. 또한, 확산항은 유한차분법을 이용하여 이산화하였다. 제안된 수치모형은 시간미분항의 계산을 위해 오일러 기법을 적용하여 계산된 수심 및 스칼라의 양수 보존여부와 함께 정지된 흐름의 정상 상태의 보존여부를 확인하였다. 제안된 수치모형의 해석 정확성을 평가하기 위해 1, 2차원 공간 내 다양한 흐름 조건에서의 해석해를 이용한 3개의 벤치마크 테스트를 수행하였다. 평균 제곱근 오차(Root Mean Squared Error, RMSE)를 산정하여 수치모형의 성능을 정량적으로 평가하였으며, 비소산함수를 적용함에 따라 스칼라의 수치확산이 감소하게 되었음을 확인하였다. 또한, 세 차례의 벤치마크 테스트 결과는 공통적으로 수치모형에 의해 계산된 결과값이 비소산함수를 고려함에 따라 해석해와 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, the modified design equation of shielding effectiveness was presented to predict more accurately the shielding effectiveness of honeycomb structure with hexagonal waveguide. The design equation of shielding effectiveness in honeycomb was represented from adding shielding effectiveness of single lattice to shielding effectiveness of infinite array of single lattice. This paper proposed the generalized design equation of shielding effectiveness by analyzing basis lattice of hexagonal waveguide which composes honeycomb structure and infinite array structure of basis lattice. To provide the validity of the modified design equation of shielding effectiveness in this paper, comparison with other available date using 3D EM commercial software is made.

Extension of Weakly Nonlinear Wave Equations for Rapidly Varying Topography (급변수심에의 적용을 위한 약 비선형 파동방정식의 확장)

  • From the weakly nonlinear mild-slope wave equations introduced by Nadaoka et al.(1994, 1997), a set of weakly nonlinear wave equations for rapidly varying topography are derived by including the bottom curvature and slope-squared tenns ignored in the original equations ofNadaoka et al. To solve the linear version of extended wave equations derived in this study one-dimensional finite difference numerical model is con¬structed. The perfonnance of the model is tested for the case of wave reflection from a plane slope with various inclination. The numerical results are compared with the results calculated using other numerical models reported earlier. The comparison shows that the accuracy of the numerical model is improved significantly in comparison with that of the original equations ofNadaoka et al. by including a complete set of bottom curva1w'e and slope¬squared terms for a rapidly varying topography.

A Study on the Computation of Digital Filter Frequency characteristics Based on a Difference Equation (차분방정식에 기초를 둔 디지털 필터의 주파수 특성 계산에 관한 연구)

  • When a digital filter implementation is based on a difference equation, the frequency characteristics cannot be obtained by direct computation, but be obtained by experiment or analogized by Z-transform. In this paper, the method to compute the frequency magnitude response of the function expressed in a difference equation is derived from PARSEVAL's relation. To verify the validity of this new method two types of digital filters are implemented. Both filters' characteristics are measured and their values are compared with the value obtained by a Z-transform and with the value by a difference equation. The result shows that the measured values and the values obtained by the difference equaton are more closer than the values by a Z-transform. And the difference-equaton-based filters' showed sharper roll off characteristics than the Z-transform-based filters. Therefore when a digital filter implementation is based on a difference equation, the characteristics computation by a difference equation predicts better practical results than based on Z-transform.

  • In this paper, a computer simulation is developed for isotachophoretic protein separation in a serpentine micro channel for optimal lab on a chip design using 2D Finite Element Method. This 2D ITP model is composed of 5 components such as hydrochloric acid as Leader, caproic acid as terminator, acetic acid and benzoic acid as two proteins, and histindine as background electrolyte. The computer model is based on mass conservation equation for 5 components, charge conservation equation for electric potential, and electro neutrality condition for pH calculation. For the validation of the 2D spatial ITP model, the results are compared with the Simul5 developed by Bohuslav Gas Group. The simulation results are in a good agreement in a ID planar channel. This proves the precision of our model. The 2Dproteinseparation is conducted in a 2D curved channel for Lab on a chip design and dispersions of proteins are revealed during the electrophoretic process in a curved shape.

A Design of Information Guidance System by using Trimble Lassen-SK8 GPS (Trimble Lassen-SKB GPS를 이용한 정보안내 시스템의 설계)

  • 본 논문에서는 Trimble Lassen-SK8 GPS 수신기로부터 측정된 위치정보를 수치지도에 표시하고 이로부터 정보안내 시스템을 설계하였다. 이 시스템에서는 특정위치에 대한 안내와 관련된 음성정보를 출력하고 그 지역을 벗어나는 경우에는 정보의 출력을 종료하도록 한다. GPS 의 수신오차는 원의 방정식을 사용하여 범위를 벗어나는 오차발생에 대한 처리가 가능하도록 했으며, 수치지도의 특정위치의 식별을 위해 Bessel TM 좌표를 WGS-84 경위도 좌표로 적용하였다. 본 논문의 결과는 학교안내 시스템에 적용시켰으며, 만족할만한 결과를 보였다.
