Chemical Characteristics of Citron(Citrus junos) Juices (유자 착즙액의 화학적 특성)

  • It was aimed to study the chemical characteristics and volatile compounds of juices extracted by press (PE) and centrifugal extractors (CE). Citrons cut up cross direction were used as samples in PE. Proportion ratio of peel, flesh, and seed of citron were 43.9, 39.4 and 16.7%, respectively. Yield of juice increased with weight to 120g of citron fruit. pH, brix, pulp, oily materials, amino nitrogen and yield of juice extracted by CE were higher than those of juice by PE. Acidity and transmittance of juice extracted by PE were higher than those of juice by CE. Free sugars of citron juice were consisted of fructose, glucose and sucrose. Free sugar contents of juice by CE were twice as much as those of PE. Major volatile compounds of total steam distillation matters of citron juice extracted by PE were dl-limonene, ${\gamma}-terpinene\;{\beta}-farnesene$, sabinene, linalool, ${\beta}-myrcene$ and terpinolene, while those by CE were dl-limonene, ${\gamma}-terpinene$, sabinene, ${\beta}-myrcene,\;{\alpha}-pinene$, linalool and terpinolene. dl-Limonene and ${\gamma}-terpinene$ consisted of $73{\sim}83%$ of total volatile compounds. dl-Limonene of juice by CE increased about 6% that of juice by PE. ${\beta}-Farnesene$ were observed trace in juice by CE but presented in 7% in juice by PE. The results would suggested that chemical characteristics and volatile compounds of citron juice seemed to depend on extraction methods.

  • This paper discusses a one-way fluid structural interaction (FSI) analysis and shape optimization of the impeller blades for a 15,000 HP centrifugal compressor using the response surface method (RSM). Because both the aerodynamic performance and the structural safety of the impeller are affected by the shape of its blades, shape optimization is necessary using the FSI analysis, which includes a structural analysis for the induced fluid pressure and centrifugal force. The FSI analysis is performed in ANSYS Workbench: ANSYS CFX is used for the flow field and ANSYS Mechanical is used for the structural field. The response surfaces for the FSI results (efficiency, pressure ratio, maximum stress, etc.) generated based on the design of experiments (DOE) are used to find an optimal shape for the impeller blades, which provides the maximum aerodynamic performance subject to the structural safety constraints.

Structural Safety Assessment of a Concrete-filled Base Frame Supporting a Motor for Centrifugal Compressor Drives (원심식 압축기 구동용 모터 베이스 프레임의 콘크리트 타설에 따른 구조안전성 평가)

  • In this paper, we perform structural analysis for a base frame which is used to support a motor for large centrifugal compressor drives and a safety assessment according to the concrete placement. First, the structural analysis about four loading conditions for the motor base frame was conducted and the structural safety was evaluated through both the maximum distortion energy theory and Mohr-Coulomb theory. It was possible to perform a more reasonable safety evaluation against local stresses occurring at the discontinuous portion of the fragile structural members by applying the safety assessment through ASME VIII Div. 2. In addition, the motor base frames with and without the internal concrete placement were quantitatively compared by the structural analysis and safety evaluation using ASME code and it was found to improve the structural integrity due to the concrete placement.

  • 비료 살포는 작물 생장 촉진을 위하여 반드시 필요한 작업이며 재배 관리의 반 이상을 차지하는 중요한 농작업이다. 비료 사용은 양분 공급과 토양의 물리 화학성 개선 등 여러 이점이 있으나 최근에는 과도한 비료 사용으로 양분의 불균형 등의 문제점이 대두되고 있다. 또한 수작업으로 비료를 살포할 시 유해한 성분이 피부에 흡수되고 작업 능률이 낮기 때문에 비료 살포기의 필요성을 가진다. 현재 시중에 판매되고 있는 비료 살포기는 고속의 기류를 이용하여 비료를 날리는 방법과 중력으로 낙하시키는 방법, 원심력을 가하여 멀리 날려 보내는 방법 등이 있다. 그 중 중력으로 낙하시키는 방법과 고속 기류를 사용하는 방법은 석회, 퇴비, 규산질 비료 살포에 부적절함으로 원심력을 이용한 비료 살포가 많이 사용된다. 하지만 원심력을 이용하여 날리는 방법은 구조가 단순하여 비료가 균일하게 확산되지 않고 트랙터의 이동 속도에 따라서 비료의 살포량이 달라진다. 그에 따라 과도한 비료 살포로 이어지며 토지 또한 양분의 불균형 등으로 환경의 문제점이 대두되고 있다. 국내에서는 균일 살포를 위하여 비료 살포기의 내부 날개의 각도를 조절하여 비료 살포의 패턴을 분석하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 균일 살포의 중요성은 더욱 대두되고 있지만 현재 균일 살포에 대한 연구가 많이 부족한 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 비료 살포기에 균일 살포를 위한 설계 인자를 도출하기 위해 살포기를 분석하여 원심식 비료 살포기의 균일 살포를 위한 기초 자료로 활용하고자 한다.

  • The design technique of turbo pumps has been developed due to an increasing demand from related industrial fields. But infant stage of turbomachinery in the domestic industry needs more fundamental design method. Among various types of pumps, centrifugal pump was chosen because of its wide industrial application. It is difficult to decide the correct specification of centrifugal impeller, because of its complex flow analysis at the inlet, passage and outlet. This study is limited on the impeller blade design and its related performance analysis.

The Study on Performance of an Axial Fan with Centrifugal type Blades in Duct flow (덕트 내 원심식 축류팬의 성능변화에 관한 연구)

  • This paper was a study about noise reduction through flow stabilization in duct using experimental method and numerical analysis at the same time. To determine the fan's type three kinds of fans(axial fan, centrifugal fan, and axial fan with centrifugal type blades) was examined to investigate the suitability for in-line duct. As a result, under the equal number of rotation 2000 RPM, performance of an axial fan with centrifugal type blades was the most superior by 55dBA at 4.3CMM among other fans. After this, analyzed the results of the numerical analysis to find out the optimum design of pitch angle such as $0^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$ and $20^{\circ}$. The intensity of turbulence was low when pitch angle was $15^{\circ}$ and air volume became peak by 5.08 CMM. It was observed that axis component of velocity increased gradually when pitch angle increased from $0^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$, and embodied noise reduction and improvement of air flow rate through flow stabilization.

  • This paper deals with the vibration absorbers of gravitational and centrifugal pendulum types for vibration controls of ship's substructures such as radarmasts, bridgewings and funnels. The mathematical model of such a vibrating system with an absorber is described as a 2 degree of freedom system and an efficient formulation for optimum design of the absorber is presented. For investigation applicability of the two types of the absorbers to a structure system, numerical calculations and experiments hove been performed with variation of mass ratios for each type. According to the results of investigations, the vibration absorber of gravitational type proved to be more useful and efficient than one of centrifugal pendulum type in a view point of mass ratio.
