X-선에 의한 가공용 감자 내부 결함 특성 분석

  • 감자는 전세계 대부분의 국가에서 재배되고 있는 세계 4대 주곡 작물인 동시에 스낵류 시장에서도 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 우리나라의 감자 가공산업은 1990년대 초부터 활기를 띠기 시작여하 현재 2,000억불의 매출을 달성하고 있다. 이중 우리나라 농민이 직접 생산한 감자를 원료로 사용하는 천연칩 감자 가공산업은 매출액을 기준으로 144억 (1997년)에서 700억 (2001년)으로 과거 10년 동안 괄목할 만한 성장을 하였다. 우리나라의 연간 감자 칩 원료용 가공용 감자 소요량은 총 51,600톤 (2002 년)으로 그중 40,600톤은 국내생산량으로 충당하고 나머지는 냉동감자를 수입하여 처리하고 있다. 가공원료용 감자는 괴경의 크기나 모양과 같은 외부품질과 환원당이나 고형분 함량과 같은 내부품질이 좋아야 한다. 하지만 가공용 감자의 내·외부품질이 좋게 판정되어도 내부갈색반점이나 중심공동과 같은 괴경 생리장해가 발생하면 원료용 감자로서의 상품 가치가 상실된다. 국내 칩 가공원료용 감자는 봄재배에서는 약 5 ∼ 7 %, 여름재배에서는 10 ∼ 15 %의 괴경 생리장해가 발생되고 있다. 현재 위와 같은 생리장해는 가공공장에서 감자를 잘라서 골라내거나 감자 칩을 만든 후 제거하는 방법을 쓰고 있다. 이에 감자를 수확 후 감자칩으로 가공하기 전에 생리장해가 발생한 감자를 제거하여 생산 공정에서의 불필요한 가공을 줄일 수 있는 방법이 개발되어야 할 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 최근, 농산물의 비파괴적 품질 평가와 선별에 있어서 가장 실용적이고 성공적인 기술 중의 하나는 농산물의 광학적 성질을 이용한 전기-광학 기술이다. 그중 X-선과 같이 파장이 짧은 방사 에너지는 대부분의 농산물을 투과하여 내부의 질량 밀도의 변화와 상관관계를 갖는 품질 인자를 비파괴적으로 평가하는데 적합하나 아직 국내에선 X-선을 이용한 가공용 감자의 내부 결함특성에 대한 연구는 이뤄지지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 가공용 감자의 내부결함 특성중 하나인 내부동공의 X-선에 의한 특성을 본 연구소에 있는 X-선 발생장비로 측정해 보고 비파괴적인 방법으로 실시간 가능성을 시험하였다. 감자는 수원 농산물 도매시장에서 2003년산 가공용 감자 (품종:선농)를 구매하여 사용하였다. 감자내 내부동공은 35 ∼ 40 kV와 5.25 mA값으로 발생된 X-선에 의해 잘 검출되는 것으로 나타나, 현장에서 충분히 활용가능 할 것으로 판단되었다. 금후, 실시간으로 내부동공을 검출할 수 있는 시스템을 개발할 계획이다.

  • 동물성사료는 가축의 도살과 축산물의 부위선별 작업과정에서 식용으로 사용되지 않은 것(동물성잔재물)을 랜더링 처리하면 동물성단백질사료로서 전환이 가능하여 사료원료로 이용되어 왔다. 그러나 최근 동물성잔재물을 이용한 재활용 물질인 육골분을 소에 급여하여 소해면상뇌증(BSE)과 관련성으로 영국 및 유럽 등 여러 국가에서 반추가축에 급여중단 등 가축의 사료로서 이용이 크게 제한되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 특정의 동물성잔재물은 재활용을 금지하고, 소각 후 매립하고 있다. (중략)

포장과 법률 - '포장재 재질·구조 등급표시 및 분리배출 표시에 관한 고시' 제정(안) 행정예고

  • 환경부는 분리배출표시를 재질 중심에서 배출방법 중심으로 변경하여 일반인도 분리배출방법을 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 함으로써 올바른 분리배출을 유도하여 선별 및 재활용의 효율성을 높이고 재생원료의 품질을 향상시키기 위해 '포장재 재질·구조 등급표시 및 분리배출 표시에 관한 고시' 제정(안)을 행정예고했다. 또한 이번 제정안은 각각 존재하던 포장재 재질·구조 등급표시와 분리배출표시 관련 고시를 통합, 업계의 혼란을 줄이려는 목적도 가지고 있다. 다음에 그 주요내용에 대해 살펴보도록 한다.

  • The mutant strain M6 derived from Acetobacter sp. A9, which produces high levels of the bacterial cellulose derived by random mutagenesis with N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine or UV treatment, was selected by a Hestrin and Schramm medium (HSB) plate assay. The characterization of the cellulose production was studied in flask culture to improve the productivity of bacterial cellulose by $Acetobacter$ sp. A9 and mutant strain M6. The yield of cellulose production was superior to mutant M6 than $Acetobacter$ sp. A9. Cellulose was produced 0.12 g $L^{-1}$ by $Acetobacter$ sp. A9 at HS medium and the mutant M6 produced the cellulose 6.95 g $L^{-1}$at HS medium. Strain M6 produced less amount of gluconic acid than A9, thus showing that cellulose production is negatively relted with the gluconic acid production.

  • Globally, the amount of waste plastics has been occurring to environmental problems. As a result, it is necessary to research methods that utilize waste plastic pyrolysis oil (WPPO) produced by pyrolysis. One such method being studied is utilizing WPPO as a naphtha feedstock. In this study, five types of WPPO were analyzed to determine whether they can be used as raw materials for naphtha. Because of their wide boiling point range, the WPPOs were fractionated into light and heavy fractions through vacuum distillation, and the separation and purification techniques were analyzed using GC-VUV to determine the content of paraffin, olefin, and other compounds. All WPPOs showed high olefin content regardless of the source and fraction. Aromatic and paraffin content varied depending on the source, and oxygen and other compounds also varied significantly by source and fraction. In addition, the light fraction showed a carbon distribution similar to that of naphtha, whereas the heavy fraction showed a carbon distribution of C11 ~ C14. In conclusion, additional processes and raw material selection are required to utilize waste plastic pyrolysis oil as a raw material for naphtha.

  • Coal fly ash was calcined and elutriated for recycling as ceramic raw materials. C Crystal phases, morphologies, chemical components, particle size distributions and Ig. loss of as-received, calcined and elutriated coal fly ash were investigated to study the effects of the calci nation and elutriation on the coal fly ash classification. The experimental equations, which were used in elutriation of clay, were examined in order to find out which equation is appropriated for coal fly ash classification. It turned out that Rittinger's equation is relatively well matched for the fly ash. Having nothing to do with the treatment conditions, the crystal phases of coal f fly ash were mullite, quartz. Calcite peak was detected in as - received and elutriated coal fly a ash; however, it disappeared in calcined coal fly ash. As - received coal fly ash consists of various type of particles such as a cenosphere, coke type, silicate type, whisker type and aggregat e ed type. In case of calcined coal fly ash, coke type particles were eliminated and agglomerated type particles were relatively increased. Most of the particles that were relatively spherical cenosphere in the 4th step of elutriator. Particle size distribution was narrowed by calcination a and elutriation. Especially, in elutriation, particle size distribution was very narrow.

  • Approximately 8.5 million tons of fly ash and 740,000 tons of briquette ash were produced in 2010. Inefficient recycling of coal ash has been a heavy economic and environmental burden and economical coal ash utilization technologies are required to turn coal ash into valuable resources. In this study the patents and literature were analyzed to understand the present situation of coal ash recycling technologies and to promote utilization of coal ash for producing a non-sintering green cement, geopolymer. The survey was based on the open patents of USA, European Union, Japan and Korea, and the papers in SCI - indexed journals published between 1979 and 2013. Technical key words were used for data collection and noise filtering. Trends of recycling technologies in utilization of coal ash for producing geopolymers were discussed in terms of time periods, countries, companies and various forms of technologies.

  • The total amount of fluidized bed incinerator ash, i.e. incombustion materials generated from the municipal solid waste incineration(MSWI) in Korea was approximately 14,000 tons in 2006. Most of the ash after ferrous metal separation is finally discard to the landfill sites. In the present work, possibility for recycling of the ash is studied to utilize the ash as raw materials for ceramic products. Incombustion materials obtained from the two different incinerators were used to recover the raw materials by applying the magnetic separation and screening process to remove metallic particles. The raw materials show relatively low heavy metals content obtained from the KSLP leaching tests. The ceramic products were prepared by mixing the clay with the various amounts of the raw material. The physical properties, i.e. shrinkage rate, absorbancy and compressive strength of the ceramic products sintered at $1,000^{\circ}C$ and $1,050^{\circ}C$, respectively were improved by increasing the addition amounts of the incinerator ash. Based on the leaching tests the ceramic products also be satisfied with the standard limits on the leachability of heavy metals because most of the metallic materials are effectively removed from the incombustion materials by appling the separation processes.

  • This study was conducted to investigate use possibility on waste water sludges of water disposal plant as raw materials of organic compost at Fertilizer Official Regulation of Fertilizer Management Law in 2002. In heavy metal contents, some water service sludges were discovered a little over than the standard levels of raw material regulated in organic compost and most of them were not reached the levels. But they were difficult for using the raw materials of organic compost owing to shortage of the organic content. It was judged that the fiber and leather sludges were much in the heavy metal contents and they couldn't use as the raw materials of organic compost. There was afraid that a little heavy metal contents of cosmetic sludge were less than the levels, but it was possible to use selectively as a raw material.

  • It is very important to raise the purity of silica for manufacturing metallurgical-grade silicon because the purification of silicon in the smelting process is very difficult. In present study, the silica sand which is obtained from Vietnam was mineralogically analyzed. Based on the results, a novel process to separate impurities from the silica sand was developed, which consisted of classification, specific gravity and magnetic separation steps. Using the developed process, high-grade silica sand concentrate containing over 99.8 wt% $SiO_2$ was prepared, being suitable for manufacturing the metallurgical-grade silicon.
