Research on Analytical Technique for Satellite Observstion of the Arctic Sea Ice (극지 해빙 위성관측을 위한 분석 기술 개발)

  • KOPRI(Korea Polar Research Institute) have researhed Arctic sea ice by using satellite remote sensing data since 2017 as a mission of KOPRI. The title of the reseach is "Development of Satellite Observation and Analysis for Arctc sea-ice". This project has three major aims; 1) development of prototype satellite data archive/manage system for Arctic sea ice monitoring, 2) development of sea ice remote sensing data processing and analysis technique, and 3) development of international satellite observing network for Arcitc. This reseach will give us that 1) deveolpment of sea ice observing system for northern sea route, 2) development of optimal remote sensing data processing technique for sea ice and selected satelite sensors, 3) development of international satellite onbservation network. I hope that this letter of introducton KOPRI satellite program for Arctic will help to understand Arctic remote sensing and will introduce you to step into the Arctic remote sensing, which Iis like a blue ocean of remote sensing.

  • 요즘 모든 분야에서 실세계의 상황정보 인지를 통해 전자공간과 물리공간을 결합할 수 있는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅의 기반 기술을 사용하여 센서와 무선 통신 기술을 결합한 무선 센서 네트워크에 대한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있는 추세이다. 또한 선박에서도 유무선 기술을 융합하여 지능형 선박에 적합한 Ship Area Network(SAN) 연구가 진행되고 있으나, 다양한 유무선 네트워크 연동 SAN-브릿지 기술, 이종 센서, 제어기기를 자율적으로 구성관리하거나 상호연동, 원격제어 하는 자율 SAN 구성관리 기술 등의 필요성이 제기되고 있는 실정이다. 선박에서의 모니터링 분야인 구조적 안전과 화물 관리를 위한 모니터링 외에도 선원을 포함한 모든 주변 환경을 안전하게 유지하는 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기후 변화에 대한 감지나 여러 구조물에 대한 온도, 압력 등의 모니터링 시스템을 효율적으로 설계하기 위해 무선 센서 네트워크에서의 에너지 효율을 이용한 라우팅 및 데이터 병합을 위한 기술 동향을 파악하고 자기 구성 클러스터링 방법을 분석하여 선내의 무선 센서 네트워크 구성에 대해 연구하였다.

A Study on Community Mapping for ICT-Based Livestock Infectious Disease Response (ICT 기반 가축 감염병 대응을 위한 커뮤니티 매핑 연구)

  • Livestock epidemics, such as foot and mouth disease, are causing enormous economic losses due to their strong infectious power. Early detection of infectious diseases in livestock is very important, but it is difficult to diagnose early in individual farms, and there are frequent cases of transmission through inter-farm movement such as veterinarians and feeding vehicles. In this study, we studied the technology that enables rapid diagnosis without veterinarian farm visits and prevents further spread by automatically monitoring the body temperature of livestock using ubiquitous-based information and communication technology in the early stage of onset and sending it in real time. We have presented a technique for systematically managing livestock epidemics at the farm level, regional level, and national level by using the community mapping technique by using the remote medical treatment system linked to the automatically collected information. In this process, community mapping items for each step and stakeholders were derived for crowd sourcing based spatial information technology.

  • Red tide(harmful algae) in the Korean Coastal Waters has a given a great damage to the fishery every year. However, the aim of our study understands the influence of meteorological factors (air and water tempaerature, precipitation, sunshine, solar radiation, winds) relating to the mechanism of red tide occurrence and monitors red tide by satellite remote sensing, and analyzes the potential area for red tide occurrence by GIS. The meteorological factors have directly influenced on red tide formation. Thus, We want to predict and apply to red tide formation from statistical analyses on the relationships between red tide formation and meteorological factors. In future, it should be realized the near real time monitoring for red tide by the development of remote sensing technique and the construction of integrated model by the red tide information management system (the data base of red tide - meteorological informations).

  • Currently, satellite images act as essential and important data in water resources, environment, and ecology as well as information of geographic information system. In this paper, we will investigate basic characteristics of satellite images, especially application examples in water resources. In recent years, researches on spatial and temporal characteristics of large-scale regions utilizing the advantages of satellite imagery have been actively conducted for fundamental hydrological components such as evapotranspiration, soil moisture and natural disasters such as drought, flood, and heavy snow. Furthermore, it is possible to analyze temporal and spatial characteristics such as vegetation characteristics, plant production, net primary production, turbidity of water bodies, chlorophyll concentration, and water quality by using various image information utilizing various sensor information of satellites. Korea is planning to launch a satellite for water resources and environment in the near future, so various researches are expected to be activated on this field.

A Study on the GK2A/AMI Image Based Cold Water Detection Using Convolutional Neural Network (합성곱신경망을 활용한 천리안위성 2A호 영상 기반의 동해안 냉수대 감지 연구)

  • In this study, the classification of cold water and normal water based on Geo-Kompsat 2A images was performed. Daily mean surface temperature products provided by the National Meteorological Satellite Center (NMSC) were used, and convolution neural network (CNN) deep learning technique was applied as a classification algorithm. From 2019 to 2022, the cold water occurrence data provided by the National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) were used as the cold water class. As a result of learning, the probability of detection was 82.5% and the false alarm ratio was 54.4%. Through misclassification analysis, it was confirmed that cloud area should be considered and accurate learning data should be considered in the future.

  • 생활환경이 새로운 패러다임으로 변해가고 있다. 유비쿼터스 환경을 앞당기기 위하여 산업체 전반에 걸쳐 변화를 거듭하고 연구가 지속되고 있다. 유비궈터스 환경은 농업 분야에도 적용되어 농산물의 재배와 수확에 이르기까지 전반적인 형태를 변화 시키고 있다. 재배 시설을 원격지에서 제어함으로써 적절한 재배환경을 지원할 수 있도록 하여 환경변화 관리를 효율적으로 할 수 있으며, 사용자의 성향에 맞는 재배 환경 여건을 지능적으로 판단하고 제어 할 수 있는 시스템이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 환경 즉, 온도, 습도, $CO_{2}$, 조도 등의 변화를 센서네트워크를 통하여 감지하고, 퍼지시스템을 통하여 환경변화를 추론하여 환기시설을 적절하게 제어할 수 있는 시스템과 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • 무선인식 기술의 발달로 인하여 원격에서 감지 및 인식하여 정보를 교환하는 것이 더욱더 발전해 나가고 있으며 이는 인식거리 증가, 인식속도 증가로 이어져 유통분야에 바코드를 대체하는 RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)로 발전을 하였으며 유통 뿐 아니라 다양한 부가산업으로 발전을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 RFID를 이용하여 입고와 재고 등을 관리하는 시스템 과 컨베이어와 RFID를 이용하여 자동으로 상품을 분류하는 시스템을 개발하였다.

  • 최근 스마트 폰의 확대로 다양한 서비스 모델에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스마트 폰을 기반으로 주유소 액화장치의 전체적인 환경요소를 모니터링 함과 동시에 설비의 원격에서 관리하고 제어할 수 있는 통합 관리시스템을 설계하고자 한다. 또한, 본 연구의 주요한 기술은 요소는 액화장비의 기반설비에 대하여 발생할 수 있는 각종 장애를 사전에 감지하고, 장애 발생 시 신속히 대응할 수 있는 감시체제에 대하여 체계적으로 연구하고, 유류설비 및 전기설비를 운영 및 관리하는 환경에서는 기기의 작동상태, 액화장치의 운전상태 및 고장 유무, 화재발생시 신속한 통보체계를 구현하고자 한다.

Application of a Remote-sensing Pheromone Trap for Analysis of Overwintering Population of the Oriental Fruit Moth, Grapholita molesta (복숭아순나방(Grapholita molesta)의 월동세대 밀도 분석을 위한 무인 모니터링 페로몬 트랩 적용)

  • A remote sensing pheromone trap called IT pheromone trap (Korean patent: 10-0982563) was applied to monitor overwintering population changes of the oriental fruit moth, Grapholita molesta, for three successive years in apple orchards. Males of the overwintering populations were attracted during April and May. However, the occurrence peak was delayed and extended to early June in 2010, at which the average spring temperature was significantly lower than the previous years. These overwintering populations could be monitored by the remote-sensing pheromone trap. When the remote-sensing pheromone traps were deployed to apple orchards of different provinces in Korea in 2010, the maximal overwintering populations of G. molesta were monitored at May in all areas. However, the population sizes monitored were significantly different among different localities. This study suggests a practical application of IT pheromone trap to monitor G. molesta in field conditions.
