  • In 1997, 180 countries signed the Kyoto Protocol in Kyoto, Japan. The Kyoto Protocol came into force in February 2005. The agreement calls for industrialized nations to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 5 percent from 1990 levels by 2008 to 2012. One of those polices is a modal shift that change from road freight to sea, inland waterway and railroad transportation that is eco-friendly. The increase of road freight brings road congestion, accidents, logistic costs, air pollution and greenhouse gases. Railroads are superior than the other modes of transportation in mass transportability, high speed, timeliness, safety and environmental-friendliness, but the railway industry has been pushed behind in competition. Korean railroads were used by passengers and freight transport popularly until the middle of 20th century, however, by the sudden change of logistics environments, a shaving time efficiency being most important, railroad logistic lost its competitive power against the transportation by truck. From the research which sees consequently investigated a various policy, a system and a law about Chinese logistics industry and present condition of the Chinese goods enterprise and instance analysis of the large Chinese corporation that branch out to undeveloped markets led and a Chinese logistics industry and problem point escape hereafter the heightening of competitiveness plan which is rational under prsenting boil.

The Analysis on Promotion factors of Air Cargo Transportation in East-South Area (동남권 항공화물 활성화 요인 분석)

  • This study deals with the terms of three connection factors that promote air cargo transportation in the east-south area: a firm's subjective factors, industrial environment factors, and governmental policy factors. According to the analysis results, a firm's subjective factors (4.48) scored highest of the three promotion factors, followed by industrial environment factors (4.20) and government policy factors (3.88). Therefore, it is important to promote to air cargo transportation in the east-south area a firm's subjective factors (1) to procure concentrated market strategy and real market capacity, (2) to procure speedy satisfaction of customer needs and confidence, (3) to enhance aviation route development, and (4) to enhance business ability of airlines and forwarders. Next, air cargo transportation should be promoted in the east-south area by considering industrial environment factors and government policy factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the components and verify the relationship among service quality, customer satisfaction and relationship quality in liner shipping company. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, literature survey related to service quality, customer satisfaction, relationship quality was carried out and took an empirical analysis by the use of questionnaire method for employees in international freight forwarders. The final results are as follows; First, correlations between service quality and customer satisfaction are found to be positive. But service quality component of tangibles and responsiveness with customer satisfaction are not to be positive. Second, as the other study on the similar logistics industries, the correlation between customer satisfaction and relationship quality is found to be positive in this study.

Assessment of Running Speed of Large Logging Trucks on the Forest Road Structure (임도 구조에 따른 대형 목재운송차량의 주행속도 분석)

  • This study analyzed the running speed of logging trucks (25 tons), depending on the structural state of forest roads, on four main forest roads in the national forest management offices in Chuncheon and Hongcheon for trafficability. The speeds for the curved and straight sections were 7.6 km/h and 8.7 km/h, respectively, which were less than the designed speed (20 km/h). Thus, it would be necessary to improve the forest road's structure to fulfill minimum running speed. No significant difference was observed in the running speed by the longitudinal gradient up to 13%, while it was increased at more than 100 m by the distance in the straight section. By the facility's location in the curved section, the running speed was 6.2%-9.3% lower in a ridge than a valley. The running speed was lowest at the internal angles of <90° and at the curved radius of <15 m, respectively. When this radius was less than 15 m, the substandard sections for widening amounts were more than 50%; thus, sufficient widening was not achieved.

  • In the current procurement system in Korean military, the army, navy and air force have their own distributors, military branches and warehouses. However, especially, it has been hard to have the economy of scale because most of suppliers have shipped their order from the suppliers to each of Korean military directly. Koran military considers the transportation cost as one of the management cost factors among various kinds of cost. Furthermore they have contracted with the suppliers in annual and collectively on the transportation. Hence they have been in trouble with getting efficiency of Defense budget execution because it is hard to make a decision of Defense budget with real transportation cost. Moreover Korean army, navy and air force have their own supply chain separately, so they can not cooperate flexible and quickly when they need. Therefore, in this research, we provide a benchmarking of DTCI (Defense Transportation Coordination Initiative) which has been proved that it has improved the procurement system in US implementing the integrated transportation system with 3PL and military. In addition we propose advanced integrated shipping model using Hub & Spoke system for Korean military. In order to prove its effect, we simulate our model based on the real data of the suppliers' delivery to compare with the current system when it comes to how much we can save the cost. Our research can provide evidence that the integrated procurement system in Korean military will improve Korean military procurement system.

A Study on logistics Performance Index andSupply Chain Tracking Data during the Covid-19 Pandemic (Covid-19 팬데믹시기 물류성과지수와 공급망 추적 데이터에 대한 고찰)

  • The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on global logistics and supply chains, leading to major discrepancies in logistics performance across countries worldwide. Through an examination of logistics performance index and supply chain tracking data, this study aimed to identify the changes in global supply chains and logistics environments during the pandemic. The analysis of the logistics performance index showed that overall, countries around the world, especially developed nations, showed improvements in metrics such as customs and border management efficiency, the quality of trade and transport infrastructure, capability and quality of logistics services, and cargo tracking abilities. However, the competitive pricing feasibility of international transportation and the on-time delivery frequency of goods saw a decline due to the pandemic's effects. The supply chain tracking data revealed that ports in Asian countries demonstrated high processing efficiency. In contrast, the U.S. and European countries took comparatively more time. Particularly for air cargo, parcels, and express shipments, the U.S. showed relatively longer processing times, leading to logistical delays. In conclusion, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Asian countries maintained relatively high efficiency in their logistics and trade environments. Conversely, the U.S. and some European countries showed delays and decreased efficiency in various metrics. In the future, efforts should be made to address delays and congestion, namely, the deceleration of logistics processes.

Linear Relationship between Expenditure on intangible capital and Sales - aviation service and related manufacturing firms (항공운송업 및 관련 제조업의 무형자산성 지출과 매출액 간의 선형 관계 실증 분석)

  • Many researches predicted the linear relationship between discretionary expenditure and sales amount in manufacturing companies. We review their relationship based on financial reports of KOSDAQ and KOSPI listed companies in category of non-durable goods. Also we review the relationship between expenditure on intangible capital and sales amount in aviation service and related manufacturing firms. Identified manufacturing firms showed linear relationship between R&D expenditure and sales amount. On the contrary, aviation service and related manufacturing companies do not have linear relationship between expenditure on intangible capital and sales, while their general management and sales expenditure has linear relationship with sales. It shows aviation service and related manufacturing company keep advertising or R&D related expenditure as sales revenue decreases, while manufacturing companies of non-durable goods has a tendency to reduce it as sales revenue decreases.

  • The domestic courier market, large and small companies working in more than 100 leading logistics service market is fully open. Year since 2001 has increased by 10%. 1.3 billion per year in 2011 saying the shipping box, and the market size is about 3 trillion won. Courier in 2012 with the growth of online shopping is expected to develop the industry further. However, these courier industry in appearance, but the consumer's personal growth and exposure, exploiting the fears of crime is high. In this paper, using DRM (Digital Rights Management) delivery method to implement information security system is proposed.

  • As globalization is making rapid progress, place of international trade based on seaports is changing to airports, which make logistic function in airport getting more important. Airports are required to serve as social overhead capital representing economies of scale as well as a logistic hub for integrating production, sales and transport for multinational corporations. In order to keep regional airport hub, many strategies are required such as development of hinterland and competitive advantage strategies. This paper tried to find determining factors to be a hub airport and competitiveness for hubbing, using the data from Incheon, Narita, Kansai, Nagoya, Singapore-Changi and Taipei airports. As the result of making an analysis of competitiveness of airports and competitive ranking excluding hinterland factors.

The Relationship between Foreign Exchange Exposure and Characteristic Variables of the Korean Firms and Industries (우리나라 기업 및 산업의 환노출과 특성변수와의 관계분석)

  • 본 연구는 우레나라 기업 및 산업의 환노출을 측정하고 이를 기업의 특성변수로 설명하려는 것이다. 기존 연구가 주별 및 월별 자료를 사용해서 특정 산업에 국한했던 것과는 달리 금융업을 포함한 전 산업을 대상으로 하였으며, 일별 자료를 사용해 이를 분석하였다. 환노출 추정을 위해, 1987년 1월부터 1997년 6월까지 상장된 우리나라 기업 및 산업의 일별 수익률을 종속변수로 하고 대미달러의 원화 환율 및 대엔화의 원화 환율, 달러대 엔화 환율 등의 변화율을 독립변수로 하는 모형을 설정하였으며, 이를 기존에 논의된 여러 모형을 통해 측정하였다. 측정결과 이자율을 차감하고 종속변수의 1차자기상관을 고려한 GARCH(1,1)모형의 설명력이 높았다. 우리나라 산업중에서는 섬유제품, 펄프 종이, 자동차판매 및 도매, 숙박 운송 등에서 유의한 환노출을 보였으며, 개별기업의 경우에는 1987년 1월부터 1990년 7월까지 대미달러 환율에 많이 노출되었으나, 1990년 8월부터 1994년 7월까지는 상대적으로 노출된 기업의 수가 적었다. 따라서 우리나라 산업 및 기업은 환노출에 있어서 산업효과와 기간효과를 갖고 있음을 알 수 있다. 기업특성변수와 환노출과의 관계를 분석한 결과는 일관되게 유의한 변수는 발견되지 못하였으며, 다만 특정 기간별 그리고 대미달러환율에 대해 기업규모와 금융비용부담률 등의 변수들이 유의하게 반응하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
