  • The purpose of this study is to examine the market segments of Korea specialty coffee shops based on the benefit variables by customers when they visit a coffee shop. For this study, SPSS WIN 17.0 was used for the frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability test, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA and cross tabulation. Benefit factors were divided into atmosphere factor, value factor, marketing factor, cleanliness & comfort factor, and service factor. Three distinct segments of customers were identified: passive benefit seekers, marketing benefit seekers and emotion benefit seekers. In order to explore differences between clusters and demographic and behavior variables, cross tabulation were used. These findings could be helpful for the marketers who need to establish a marketing strategy for grasping the characteristics of market segments and generating profits.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among the factors affecting unanswered reference/information service and to suggest alternative steps which would overcome the unsatisfactory outcome in reference/information service policy. A questionnaire on the quality of reference/information service was developed to survey librarians and users in 10 different private and national university libraries. About half of 500 responses indicated dissatisfaction with the reference/information service and 10 variables were eventually identified as the primary factors which have significant relationships with users's satisfaction. Collection variables were identified as major factors associated with the unanswered service but the analysis of each factor's influence on a reference/information transaction has shown that there exist significant relationships among variables of librarian and environmental variables and the users' satisfaction. Tiered or non-tiered reference/information service showed positive relationships with collection and environmental factors.

  • Chronic diseases such as hypertension require a differentiated approach according to age and life cycle. Chronic diseases such as hypertension require differentiated management according to the life cycle. It is also known that the cause of hypertension is a combination of various factors. This study uses machine learning prediction techniques to analyze various factors affecting hypertension by life cycle. To this end, a total of 35 variables were used through preprocessing and variable selection processes for the National Health and Nutrition Survey data of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As a result of the study, among the tree-based machine learning models, XGBoost was found to have high predictive performance in both middle and old age. Looking at the risk factors for hypertension by life cycle, individual characteristic factors, genetic factors, and nutritional intake factors were found to be risk factors for hypertension in the middle age, and nutritional intake factors, dietary factors, and lifestyle factors were derived as risk factors for hypertension. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data useful for hypertension management by life cycle.

  • One of the important research streams in the privacy literature for the past decade has been to discover factors affecting the decision-making process related to self-disclosure, called the cost-benefit analysis. However, although human behavior is greatly influenced by affective as well as cognitive factors, most of the factors found in previous studies are those with cognitive properties. Based on the awareness of this imbalanced situation, the study examines the role of affective factors on self-dislosure decision-making, especially SNS enjoyment and SNS fatigue. As a result of data analysis, the study finds that the influence of these affective factors is significant, and the influence of SNS enjoyment is greater than that of SNS fatigue. As for the relationship between the affective factors and the decision-making factors, the study finds that the positive affect(enjoyment) relates to only the positive evaluation factor(benefit) and the negative affect(fatigue) relates only the negative evaluation factor(cost), which demonstrate the congruent effect mechanism. Based on the result, the study discusses meaningful implications and suggestions for future studies.

  • Since launching a spoonful yogurt 'Yoplait' for the first time in the nation, Binggrae Co. has established the reputation of the Yoplait brand, and secured its leading position in the yogurt market. This study examined how Binggrae as a market pioneer (in the spoonful yogurt market) or a market follower(in the drinking yogurt market) has developed and responded to the yogurt market in which competition between companies are becoming fierce. Instead of being bound by conventional competition rules, Binggrae was found to have implemented distinctive marketing strategies for new products. That is, providing new values, the company led the market to change the paradigm of competition in the yogurt market. Together with long-term strategic marketing plans to manage the assets of the Yoplait brand, Binggrae Yoplait is required to put continuous efforts into marketing to lead the market.

  • Purpose : Urine collection using a sterile adhesive bag for urinalysis has been used commonly in infants and young children. However, this method has had some drawbacks. So, this study was performed to evaluate the usage of disposable diapers as a substitute for the routine urine collection method. Methods : 60 mL of self voided fresh urine was collected from 99 patients. Half of the urine was poured on the disposable diapers which did not contain absorbent gel beads. After 1 hr, we obtained the urine samples(extracted urine) by compressing the wet diapers using a 50 ml syringe. Routine, microscopic and biochemical analyses were performed on the other half of fresh urine and extracted urine. Then we compared each result by correlative analysis. Results : 198 samples from 99 patients were evaluated. The results of routine urinalysis except WBC and biochemical urinalysis showed a significant correlation between the two groups(P<0.05). The relative coefficients of urine SG, pH, glucose, protein, blood and leukocytes between the two groups were 0.964, 0.938, 0.977, 0.956, 0.931 and 0.738, respectively. Those of urinary sodium, potassium, chloride and creatinine were 0.997, 0.998, 0.995 and 0.998, respectively Microscopic examinations showed lower relative coefficients than the other results, 0.740 for RBC and 0.602 for WBC, but these were still significant(P<0.05). Conclusion : The results of the urine analysis with extracted urine from diapers correlates well with that of fresh urine. This new method is very helpful and can be used as an alternative of urine collection, especially for infants and young children. (J Korean Soc Pediatr Nephrol 2005;9:128-136)

  • Purpose : Voiding cystourethrography(VCUG) is required to detect vesicoureteral reflux(VUR), which may manifest as urinary tract infection(UTI) in children. It is well known that VCUG can cause UTI(post-VCUG UTI). In this study, risk factors for post-VCUG UTI and the preventive effect of antibiotics against this complication of VCUG were explored. Methods : Medical records of 284 patients who underwent VCUG at our hospital in 2007 were reviewed retrospectively. The incidence of post-VCUG UTI and risk factors for post-VCUG UTI, and the impact of antibiotic use on prevention of post-VCUG UTI were evaluated. According to antibiotics usage, we divided the enrolled patients into 4 groups of noantibiotics group, prophylactic antibiotics group(prophylactic antibiotics having been used before), antibiotics-for-VCUG group(antibiotics added for VCUG) and antibiotics-for-treatment group(treatment dose of antibiotics). Results : Seven of 284 children(2.5%) developed UTI after they underwent VCUG. Highgrade(grade$\geq$III) VUR was the only statistically significant risk factor(odds ratio[OR] 6.266, P=0.026) for post-VCUG UTI, while sex, age, and other anomalies of urinary system were not significant. Five post-VCUG UTI cases belonged to prophylactic antibiotics group. Antibiotics use (three groups using antibiotics vs. no-antibiotics group) or addition of antibiotics for VCUG (antibiotics-for-VCUG vs. other groups) did not have any effect on prevention of post-VCUG UTI. Conclusion : The risk factor for post-VCUG UTI was high-grade VUR. Antibiotics use did not prevent post-VCUG UTI in this study.
