A Study on the Relationship of Korean and Chinese Consumers' Eating-out Motivation, Dining Out, and Delivery-Takeout in COVID-19 : The Moderating Role of Interpersonal Contact Anxiety (코로나19 사태에 따른 한·중 소비자의 외식동기와 방문외식, 배달-테이크아웃 소비선택 간의 관계에 관한 연구 : 대인접촉 불안감의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effect of interpersonal contact anxiety due to COVID-19 on the relationship between eating-out motivations of Korean and Chinese consumers, dining out, and delivery-takeout. As a result of examining the moderating effect of Korean consumers' interpersonal contact anxiety, it was found that interpersonal contact anxiety had a moderating effect to weaken the positive influence of rational motivation on dining out. As a result of examining the moderating effect of Chinese consumers' interpersonal contact anxiety, it was found that interpersonal contact anxiety had a moderating effect to weaken the positive influence of rational motivation on dining out. But the positive influence of emotional motivation on dining out was increased. Also, it was found that interpersonal contact anxiety had a moderating effect that strengthened the positive influence of rational motivation on delivery, and it also had the effect of weakening the positive effect of emotional motivation on delivery. It was found that interpersonal contact anxiety had a moderating effect to strengthen the positive influence of emotional motivation on takeout.

  • This study used a learner acceptance model to investigate the effect of SNS characteristics on user satisfaction and visit intention. A structured self - report questionnaire was administered to 172 college students. Structural equation modeling was applied using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 22.0. The results of this study are as follows: First of all, the usefulness of informativeness did not affect the usability of the extracted SNS characteristics, and the usability did not affect usability. (+) Influence of. The characteristics of SNS can be utilized as a marketing tool to increase customer 's use and influence the customer' s intention to visit and further to create customers. In the future, various age groups will have to be surveyed. By examining the correlation between the degree of food companies' involvement in SNS and consumer visits, one can see how SNS activities of restaurant companies affect marketing activities.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of food corporations'sponsorship activities on Brand Images and Purchase Intension in professional sport industry in Korea. To accomplish the purpose, SPSS 18.0 Ver., had been conducted with 263 actual returned questionnaires. After the relevant literature reviews and analysis statistic data, three outcomes were deducted, those are, first, sponsorship factors for food corporations in professional sport industry significantly influenced on brand image. Second, Sponsorship factors for food corporations in professional sport industry significantly influenced on the purchase intension. Third, brand image of food corporation in professional sport industry significantly influenced on purchase intention. With this study, undiscovered several marketing strategies of food corporations with professional sport of Korea for their future marketing strategies could be discussed and proposed.

Consumer Resistance and Satisfaction with Restaurant Self-service Technology (외식업체 셀프서비스기술에 대한 소비자 저항 및 만족)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of self-service technology (SST) characteristics and consumer characteristics on consumer resistance and satisfaction with SST in restaurants. An online survey was conducted for consumers in their 20s and 50s who used SST at restaurants, and 343 data were used for analysis. As a result, convenience and tech-controllability have a negative effect on consumer resistance with SST, whereas complexity, social risk and relationship orientation have a positive effect. In addition, convenience, entertainment, and tech-controllability have a positive effect on consumer satisfaction with SST, whereas social risk and relationship orientation have a negative effect. This study contributes practically and academically in that it proposes a practical strategy to reduce consumer resistance and increase satisfaction, and identifies the determinants of consumer response to SST. In future studies, an in-depth analysis of consumers' ambivalent responses to SST is required.

The Impacts of Restaurant's Hygiene Environment on Customers' Behaviors (외식업체의 물리적 환경이 고객의 행동에 미치는 영향 -위생관리변수의 조절효과를 중심으로-)

  • This study investigates the effects of restaurants' physical environments on customers' words of moth and return intention. Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire from restaurants during summer of 2020 and received 627 useful responses. The data was analyzed using the hierarchical multiple regression. The results showed that restaurants' physical environments was statistically significant influencing factors on customers' positive word-of-mouth and return intention. Hygiene environmental variables did not moderated the relationship between restaurants' physical environments and customers' word-of-mouth whereas hygiene environmental variables did moderated the relationship between restaurants' physical environments and customers' return intention. The results of this study suggested that restaurant business owners need to maintain clean environment and to continuously educate employees to protect customers from COVID-19 spread.

  • The effect of conducted using Q research method, which is one of qualitative analysis methods that can approach in-depth and essential meaning of Spanish restaurant's perception of dining out consumers. The purpose of this study is to classify Spanish restaurant's perceptions of catering consumers by type, to find out the characteristics among them, and to suggest future improvement directions. An exploratory study was conducted using Q-methodology to analyze the subjective perceptions of restaurant customers in Spanish restaurants. To this end, the Q-sort, which consists of a statement card, a P-sample, and a classification process, was analyzed through Q factor analysis using the PC QUANL program. The results were classified into two types. Type 1 (N=10): Spanish restaurant preference, Type 2 (N=7): The name of the factor was set as the type of professionalism in Spanish restaurants. Each type was found to have different characteristics. Each subjective perception detected through this analysis can be used as basic data for various studies.

A Study on Customer Perception on a Food Service Company's Corporate Social Responsibility Activities (외식기업의 사회적 책임 활동에 대한 소비자의 인식에 관한 연구)

  • As the society's expectations of business have drastically amplified in recent years, an increasing number of companies have devoted their resources and managerial attention to corporate social responsibility. However, little information bas been reported on consumers' expectations on social responsibility of restaurant companies. This research studied the consumer's perception on the socially responsible business practices of restaurant companies. The research also investigated if the customer's expectations differ based on the types of restaurants. Overall, it was found that the consumers strongly feel the necessities of restaurants' socially responsible activities and publicity of those activities (4.08 and 4.05, respectively, out of 5). They also responded that the socially responsible behaviors of restaurants somewhat affect their purchase decisions (3.74 out of 5). As a result of a principle component analysis, five types of socially responsible activities(i.e., philanthropic responsibility, economic responsibility, community responsibility, environmental protection responsibility, and consumer protection responsibility) were extracted. In addition, the results showed that the consumer's expectations toward socially responsible activities of restaurants differ based on the types of restaurants (multivariate F=4.616, p=0.000).

  • The objective of this study is to find out how well-being influences consumer behavior of dining-out. Based on this objective, this study covers plans for improving marketing strategies, which contributes to menu development and purchase behavior of consumers. This study consists of two parts : a research based on the review of the literature and empirical study methods. The finding of the study would also be valuable for the development of management of advertising strategies to be implemented in the foodservice industry. Based on the survey statistics, Program SPSS 12.0 and Amos 5.0 were used in order to look into a casual relationship among group units. The findings of the demonstration analysis are as follows. Most of previous research regarding well-being in local study is psychological well-being dealt with individual health and psychological satisfaction. On the other hand, social well-being is likely to focus on public relation rather than private concerns. The fact that the term 'well-being' have not been definitely defined yet was a problem in research. Also, well-being should not be recognized as a temporary trend but as a general trend. Therefore, it is necessary to understand consumer behavior which is changeable as the circumstance of the foodservice industry changes.

  • Approximately 0.7 millions dining business exist all over the country and the industry gains 33 trillions sales every year. Although the characteristics, preference factors, and consuming trends of the consumers in this area are diverse and unpredictable than those in other segments, it is actual that the industry has not been divided as a specified market suited to the real state of affairs in the nation. Therefore, in order for appropriate marketing strategies, it will be necessary to focus on extending product classification, diversifying brands, health marketing, and marketing by ages, by generations, and by life patterns. In addition, economically superior position can be established by subdividing strategies meeting various needs and expectations of consumers.
