Extraction and Measurements of Abdominal Muscles in Ultrasound Images Using Morphological Information of Abdominal Fasia (복부 근막의 형태학적 정보를 이용한 초음파 영상에서의 복부 근육 추출 및 측정)

  • 본 논문에서는 복부 초음파 영상에서 근육 영역의 명암 대비를 강조하기 위해서 Multiple 연산을 적용한 후, 명암 대비가 강조된 영상에서 수직 방향의 명암도가 200 이상인 픽셀들에 대해 퍼지 기법에 적용하여 이진화한다. 이진화된 영상에서 피부층과 외복사근 사이에 존재하는 피하지방을 추출하기 위해 Thick-Search 방법을 적용하여 피부층과 외복사근을 추출한 후, 피부층과 외복사근의 사이에 Up-Down Search 방법을 적용하여 피하지방층을 추출한다. 피하지방층이 추출된 영상에서 근막의 형태학적 정보를 이용하여 근막을 추출한다. 추출된 근막 사이에 대해 Up-Down Search 방법을 적용하여 근육의 후보 영역을 추출한 후, 근육의 형태학적 정보를 이용하여 최종적인 근육 층을 추출한다. 추출된 근육의 경계선을 Monotone Cubic Hermite 보간법을 이용하여 근육의 경계선을 보정한 후, 최소자승법을 이용하여 근육의 두께를 측정한다. 제안된 방법을 복부 초음파 영상에 적용하여 근막 및 근육 영역을 추출한 결과, 기존의 근육 추출 방법보다 정확하게 추출되었고, 근육의 두께 측정 결과도 전문의가 육안으로 측정한 결과와 근사한 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Effect on Activation of Abdominal Local Muscles During Modified Bridge Exercise in Healthy Individuals (변형된 교각운동이 복부 국소근육의 활성화에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate abdominal local muscle activity during modified bridge exercise. 17 subjects participated in this study. Abdominal muscles measured. External oblique abdominis (EO), internal oblique abdominis (IO), transvers abdominis (TrA), and rectus abdominis (RA) during general bridge exercise and modified bridge exercise, respectively. Electromyogram (EMG) and real-time ultrasound were used to verify alteration of muscles. Activation of RA and EO muscles of non-dominant foot was significantly difference in general bridge exercise group, not modifiedl bridge exercise group. In the modified bridge exercise group, thickness of IO and TrA muscle of non-dominant foot was significantly difference in modified bridge exercise group than general bridge exercise group. Therefore, modified bridge exercise may be apply as more effective exercise for local muscle activity than global muscle.

Verification of the Difference in Effectiveness of Static Plank Exercise by Motion -Focusing on EMG Analysis- (정적 플랭크 운동의 동작 별 효과성 차이 검증 -근전도 분석을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the comparison of core muscle activities according to different performance in static Plank exercise. Ten "J" University's males(age, 23.20±0.65 years; height, 174.54±1.51 cm; body mass, 70.00±2.24 kg; and BMI, 22.94±0.51 kg/m2) completed this study as the subjects. Four type's static Plank motions were performed(full Plank, FP; elbow Plank, EP; side Plank, SP; reverse Plank, RP). For the EMG analysis, we measured the core muscle activities of right side on the rectus abdominis(RA), external oblique(EO), latissimus dorsi(LD), and erector spinae(ES). This research's results were as follows. LD and ES muscle activities were greatest during RP(p<.001). RA and EO muscle activities were greatest during EP(p<.001). Therefore, this results are anticipated to serve as basic data for static Plank performance applications in effective exercise programs.

The effect of postural abdominal breathing exercise on posture muscle activity and respiratory function in adults in their 20s (자세에 따른 복식호흡 운동이 20대 성인의 자세근육 활성도 및 호흡 기능에 미치는 영향)

  • This research is to find out which position is more effective on exercise. This study compared paricipants in their twenties on sitting position & standing position doing abdominal breathing of their respiration & abdominal muscle activation for 4 weeks. In sitting position, FEV1 was the biggest after breathing exercise. In standing position, the gap was biggest between the FEV1 & forced expiratory flow before and after the exercise. In standing and supine position, Lt. rectus abdominis before exercise and Rt. rectus abdominis after exercise muscle activities were the biggiest. Both posture exercise of repeated measure of analysis result, before and after the exercise of the rectus abdomonis muscle and external oblique muscle were not difference in both muscle activity(p>.05). Left Musculus obliquus externus abdominis before and after physical exercise, it's showed a meaningful difference(p<0.05). Before and after exercise, saw a meaningful difference the efforts of FEV1/FVC(p<0.05). The left external oblique abdominis muscle showed the most muscle activity in the supine position before/after exercising, the efforts expiratory showed the lowest muscle activity.The results from the repeated measures ANOVA regarding to before/after the volume and muscle activity, it showed significant difference between at the right rectus abdominis muscle(p<.05). This study finally gathered data about the muscle activity according to the position. This could be used to find in what position the abdominal breath exercise is the post effective & a new treatment for the patients who has worsened respiration function.

Verification of the Effectiveness of High Plank Exercise using Weightless Exercise Equipment (무중력 운동기구를 활용한 하이플랭크 운동의 효과성 검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of upper arm, trunk and core muscle activities according to different performance in high Plank exercise using weightless exercise equipment. Six males(age, 23.00±0.73 years; height, 172.95±2.05 cm; body mass, 66.83±2.75 kg; and BMI, 22.33±0.72 kg/m2) completed this study as the subjects. Four type's high Plank exercises using weightless exercise equipment were performed(high plank, HP; high plank with air walker, HPAW; high plank with surf board, HPSB; high plank with waist trainer, HPWT). For the EMG analysis, we measured the body muscle activities of right side on the deltoid(DT), triceps brachii(TB), latissimus dorsi(LD), and external oblique(EO). This research's results were as follows. DT, TB, LD, & EO muscle activities were greatest during HPSB(p=.000). Therefore, these results are expected to serve as basic data for high Plank exercise using weightless exercise equipment performance applications in effective exercise programs.

Relationship between Muscle Sizes from Ultrasound Images and Endurance Time with/without Experience of Low Back Pain : Pattern of Recruiting Trunk Muscles (요통경험 유무에 따른 초음파 영상에서 측정된 근육크기와 근지구력 시간과의 관계: 유지 시간에 따라 동원된 체간근육 특성)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the thickness of the trunk muscles ie. external obliques (EO), transversus abdominis (TrA), and multifidus and the trunk endurance strength in order to determine any relationship between the presence or absence of low back pain (LBP) and the size of trunk muscles. Data were obtained from 50 subjects, aged between 19-29 years. Participants had no experience of spinal problems that had resulted in a restriction of normal activity or time-off work and no current spinal symptoms. Measurements of muscle thickness of the trunk muscles were collected at rest, contraction and 15 seconds of post contraction during endurance strength tests. Background information was obtained followed all physical measures. Subjects were divided into two groups based on their experience of LBP. In draw-in maneuver, increasing the thickness of TrA was observed in all participants while EO was decreased at contraction in group 1 and increase in group 2. Only subjects in the group 2 had TrA increased during the flexion endurance test. In the side-bridge endurance test, the thickness of the right TrA was also observed differently between groups. Therefore, the results of the study may suggest that a function of specific muscle should be addressed for training persons with LBP.

The Effects of Sling and Vibrator Application of Knee Push-Up Plus Motion on Trunk Muscle Activities in Healthy Subjects (무릎 푸시업 플러스 동작의 슬링과 진동기 적용이 정상인의 체간 근육 근활성도 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of sling and vibrator application of knee push-up plus motion on trunk muscle activities. Ten healthy adult males(age, 23.00±0.45 years; height, 176.60±1.64 cm; body mass, 67.50±1.22 kg; and BMI, 21.65±0.34 kg/㎡) were participated in this study as subjects. Three types' knee push-up plus motions were performed(basic knee push-up plus motion, BKPP; knee push-up plus motion with sling, KPPS; knee push-up plus motion with vibration, KPPV). We measured the right side's trunk muscle activities of the upper trapezius(UT), pectoralis major(PM), serratus anterior(SA), rectus abdominis(RA), and external oblique(EO). The research findings were as follows. UT, PM, SA, RA, and EO muscle activities were greatest during KPPV(p<.001). These results are expected to serve as reference materials for knee push-up plus motion applications in training programs for trunk muscle strengthening.

Verification of GEO-KOMPSAT-2A AMI Radiometric Calibration Parameters Using an Evaluation Tool (분석툴을 이용한 천리안2A 기상탑재체 복사 보정 파라미터 검증)

  • GEO-KOMPSAT-2A AMI (Advanced Meteorological Imager) radiometric calibration evaluation is an essential element not only for functional and performance verification of the payload but for the quality of the sensor data. AMI instrument consists of six reflective channels and ten thermal infrared ones. One of the key parameters representing radiometric properties of the sensor is a SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) for the reflective channels and a NEdT (Noise Equivalent delta Temperature) for the IR ones respectively. Other important radiometric calibration parameters are a dynamic range and a gain value related with the responsivity of detectors. To verify major radiometric calibration performance of AMI, an offline radiometric evaluation tool was developed separately with a real-time AMI data processing system. Using the evaluation tool, validation activities were carried out during the GEO-KOMPSAT-2A In-Orbit Test period. The results from the evaluation tool were cross checked with those of the HARRIS, which is the AMI payload vendor. AMI radiometric evaluation activities were conducted through three phases for both sides (Side 1 and Side 2) of AMI payload. Results showed that performances of the key radiometric properties were outstanding with respect to the radiometric requirements of the payload. The effectiveness of the evaluation tool was verified as well.

Effect of Balance Board and Whole-body Vibration Stimulator Application on Body Muscle Activities during Static Squat Motion (정적 스쿼트 동작 시 발란스 보드와 전신 진동자극기 적용이 신체 근활성도 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of balance board and whole-body vibration stimulator application on body muscle activities during static squat motion. Twenty adult males(age, 21.90±0.36 years; height, 174.30±1.09 cm; body mass, 66.50±1.00 kg; and BMI, 21.90±0.31 kg/㎡) were participated in this study as subjects. Three types' static squat motions were performed(basic static squat motion, BSSM; static squat motion with balance board, SSBB; static squat motion with whole-body vibration stimulator, SSVS). We measured the right side's body muscle activities of the rectus abdominis(RA), internal oblique(IO), external oblique(EO), rectus femoris(RF), vastus lateralis(VL), and vastus medialis(VM). The research findings were as follows. There was a significant higher RA, IO, and EO muscle activity of SSBB and SSVS(p=.001, p=.004, p=.000). And RF, VL, and VM muscle activities were greatest during SSVS(p=.000). These findings are expected to serve as references for static squat motion applications in training programs for body muscle strengthening.

Influence of External Pressure to Abdominal Area on Abdominal and Lumbar Muscle Fatigue Index During Upper Extremity Exercise: A Pilot Study (상지운동 시 복부에 적용된 외부압력이 요부와 복부 근육 피로지수에 미치는 영향)

  • 본 연구는 상지운동 동안에 복부에 적용된 압력이 요부와 복부의 근피로도에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 연구대상자는 성인 남자 5명이었다. 연구대상자가 10 repetitions maximun (RM) 무게의 아령을 이용하여 1분 동안 상지운동을 수행 시 0 mmHg, 저압(30 mmHg), 중압(70 mmHg), 고압(100 mmHg)의 외부 압력이 복부에 적용되었고, 복직근, 외복사근, 내복사근, 척추기립근에서 근전도 자료가 수집되었다. 주파수 분석을 통하여 적용된 압력에 따라 각각의 근육에서 초기 10초 구간과 말기 10초 구간의 중앙주파수로 피로지수를 측정하였다. 통계학적 분석방법은 반복측정된 이요인 분산분석 ($4{\times}4$)과 사후검정을 이용하였다. 그 결과 압력의 차이에 의한 주효과가 나타났으며, 사후검정결과 0 mmHg 압력에 비해 30 mmHg, 100 mmHg에서 각각 피로지수가 유의하게 낮았다(p=.04, p=.015). 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 복부에 적용된 압력 (30 mmHg, 100 mmHg)이 근육의 피로도를 감소시킬 수 있음이 나타났다. 요부벨트를 이용하여 작업을 수행할 때, 고유수용성 감각 입력을 증가시키고 재손상을 방지하는 목적이외에도 근피로도를 감소시킬 수 있다는 가능성을 알 수 있었다.
