In Korean documents, there are diverse spellings of transliterated foreign loanwords. This fact diminishes the performance of information retrieval systems in that a foreign word can be recognized differently, which is to say, as two or several different words. Thus, information retrieval systems require preprocessing to correct nonstandard loanword spellings prior to searching and recognizing corresponding equivalent words. This paper proposes a method that improves precision and processing efficiency using the Korean alphabet's viable prefix, which prunes a virtual tree from which candidate loanwords are created.

학문이 발달하고 시대가 변하면서 발생한 새로운 개념이 외국에서 우리나라로 들여오면서 그에 대응하는 우리말인 외래어가 생성된다. 학문의 발전과 교류가 점차 빠르게 이루어지면서 외래어의 수는 급증하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 끊임없이 증가하고 있는 외래어를 체계적으로 관리하지 못하고 있어 외래어를 효율적으로 사용하지 못하며 여러 문제가 발생하고 있다. 본고에서는 외래어의 정의와 표기법 및 문제점에 대해 알아보고 외래어 관리 방안에 대해 연구하였다.

As the spirit of reconciliation between the two Koreas ripens, the integration of mineral names is required in preparing the reunification between the South and North Koreas. Currently, mineral names in Korean do not adopt the guideline for romanization of Korean that was proposed by the National Institute of the Korean Language (NIKL), and different names are often used for an identical mineral species. Here, for mineral names in Korean, we suggest using (1) the suffix, "$s{\breve{o}}k$", both for metallic and non-metallic minerals, (2) names in the NIKL example-list if available, (3) the suffix "$s{\breve{o}}k$" for minerals whose names are based on the names of persons or localities.

우리 모두 소리의 표현력이 뛰어난 한글의 우수성은 너무나 잘 알고 있으며, 한글의 세계화를 외치고 있다. 그러나 그런 일을 해야할 국립국어원 등 국가기관은 외국어 표기법을 만들지 않고 있다. 외래어표기법으로 충분하다고 생각하고 있는 것이다. 외래어표기법은 현재의 한글을 유지하면서 외국어를 한글 단어로 만들 때 어떻게 만드느냐를 규정한 것이다. 한글세계화에 필요한 외국어 표기법은 한글로 외국어를 잘 표현함으로써 한글을 외국에 퍼트리는 것이 목표이다. 따라서 외국인이 쓰기에 편리해야하고 외국어 발음 왜곡을 최소화 하면서 잘 표현해 내기엔 현재 한글로는 부족한 면이 있음으로 표현력이 확장된 한글을 만들어야한다. 물론 확장된 한글이 현재의 한글과 동떨어지면 안될 것이다. 많은 분들이 여러 아이디어로 제안을 해 왔지만 대부분 자음을 추가하는 데에 집중되어 있다. 확장한글에서 다루어야할 것은 1) 추가되는 자음과 모음 2) 한글에 없는 성조나 강약 및 장단 등에 관한 규정 추가 등이면 된다고 생각하고 있다. 그러나 한글의 큰 특성인 음절이 외국어 표현 때에 왜곡되는 현상이 있는데, 어떻게 외국어와 한글의 음절개념을 일치시킬 수 있을지에 대해 관심을 가지고 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 그 방안으로는 1) 합용병서와 2) 풀어쓰기 활용법이 가능하나, 필자는 중간선으로 3) 촉진자 표기법을 제안한다. 또한, 크기조절법에 대응해 음절인 글자 위에 점을 표기하는 음절점표기법도 제안한다.

This study attempted to improve the quality of hairstyling-related studies and provide basic data for future studies on hairstyling terms through analysis of cosmetology-related loan words used in hairstyling theses among recent cosmetology papers. For data collection to derive valid conclusions, the signatures of a total of 1,980 academic papers collected after typing in the keyword 'Hair' at the Research Information Sharing Service (http://www.riss.kr) were analyzed. The results show that researchers in hairstyling seem not to pay close attention to the correct use of foreign loan words. Therefore, the study results would be very helpful to the development of future cosmetology studies. The correct notation and use of foreign loanwords should be further encouraged.

The purpose of this study is to investigate discrepant Earth Science terms in high school curriculums and to explore the alternative to those terms. In this study, we defined discrepant terms as different terms which had the same meaning in Earth Science textbooks. Discrepant terms were compared with terms in references and precedent studies, and the preference by 284 of teachers and students was investigated. The results of this study are as follows: A number of discrepant terms were found in references as well as high school textbooks. Participants preferred terms that are more understandable, were learned previously, and were correct to loanword orthography. As for the cases of discrepant terms caused by different notation of proper nouns or different references and background knowledge, the alternative could be explored by the rule of loanword orthography or the journal publications. In conclusion, confusion may be reduced by utilizing common terms that are both based on authorized theory and easy to convey the meaning.

본 논문에서는 한국어를 사용하는 사람들에게 올바른 국어 지식을 보급하여 올바른 국어 생활을 영위하도록 하고, 국어 정보화에 기여하고자 '어문 규정 검색 통합 시스템'을 설계하고 구현한다. '어문 규정 검색 통합 시스템'은 '한글 맞춤법 검색 시스템', '표준어 규정 검색 시스템', 외래어 표기법 검색 시스템'으로 구성되어 있다. '어문 규정 검색 통합 시스템'은 실생활에서 사용되고 있는 단어들이 맞춤법이나 표준어 규정, 외래어 표기법에 맞는지를 확인할 수 있도록 하며, 틀린 경우에 올바른 단어와 그에 해당하는 어문 규정을 알 수 있도록 하였다. '어문 규정 검색 통합 시스템'은 세부 검색 시스템들을 하나의 인터페이스에서 접근할 수 있도록 통합하였으며 '규정', 검색', '전체 검색', '게임', '통계'의 세부 메뉴로 구성되어 있다. 한국 어문 규정은 폴더 형식으로 장과 절을 체계적으로 검색할 수 있도록 구현하였다. 검색에서는 하나의 단어 입력으로 동시에 여러 세부 시스템에서 검색 결과를 찾도록 하였다.
