Providing emergency services in WiBro networks is very important. This paper briefly introduces the emergency services, and explains the emergency service supporing framework which the WMF have proposed. And then several research conducted on location determination in WiBro networks are examined to explore the state-of-the-art in this field. Lastly, the status, on this matter, of current WiBro networks in service is mentioned, and we outlooks the remaining works.

It is the background that the provision of the mobile WiMAX femtocell trial service of a leading mobile telecommunication service operator using small base stations for indoor mobile broadband services and coverage expansion through eliminations of shadow areas in this paper. The paper presents an analysis result of trial subscribers' usage satisfaction for the mobile WiMAX femtocell service and suggests a market approach strategy of a mobile WiMAX femtocell service based on the analysis result. The interesting influence factors are extracted from wide influence factors suggested by existing research literature related with mobile service usage satisfaction and confined to a system quality, a service quality, and an account structure with consideration for attributes of mobile WiMAX femtocell service under exploring its early stages of service market. And then we analyze impacts of the factors to the mobile WiMAX femtocell service usage satisfaction. As a result, a system quality and an account structure have a tendency to provide considerable impacts to subscribers' usage satisfaction for mobile WiMAX femtocell service which is immature in both its technology and market. Therefore a market approach with the preferential consideration of the two factors will be valid.

최근 통신사업자들이 초고속 무선 인터넷 서비스를 위하여 와이브로 네트워크를 설치하고 있으나, 산간 지역이나 네트워크 인프라를 구축하기 어려운 지역에서는 와이브로 서비스를 제공받지 못하는 경우가 생긴다. 현재 와이브로 네트워크에서는 서비스를 제공받지 못하는 음영지역을 중계기를 이용하여 해소하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 음영지역에 고정 중계기를 설치하는 대신 고정 중계기 비용 절감 및 능동적인 네트워크 확장이 가능하도록 WLAN 네트워크에서 연구되고 있는 ad-hoc 기반의 멀티홉 릴레이 방식을 사용하여 음영지역 문제를 해결하고자 한다

The technology of WiBro, combining advantages of high speed internet and wireless internet provides the effectiveness and convenience provided by broadband and convergence. WiBro has developed due to supports of the related industries. The advancement of WiBro have created driving force for network advancement. WiBro is a niche market among high speed Internet, wireless LAN, Mobile phone, wireless internet. Through building relationship between market share and the existed telecommunication service, WiBro could improve the convenience of users. The security controls have to be built considering vulnerabilities of WiBro. Based on the study, the architecture of WiBro was suggested through reviewing the vulnerabilities and security controls in the wireless network and wire network. The appropriate security measures to be applied in the environment of WiBro. The outcomes of the study could improve the usage of WiBro.

최근 정보통신 산업의 발전은 통신.방송이 융합된 다양한 서비스를 언제 어디서나 이용할 수 있도록 하는데 반드시 필요한 전송용량의 광대역화, 고속의 이동성, 그리고 단말의 개인화로 압축된다. 이같은 예로는 현재 국내에서 상용서비스가 제공되고 있는 이동멀티미디어방송(DMB)과 작년말 국내기술로 개발한 와이브로를 들 수 있다. 와이브로는 전송속도, 이동성, 셀반경 등의 측면에서 현재의 이동전화와 무선 LAN의 중간영역에 위치하며, 도심지 내에서 1Mbps 이상의 무선인터넷 서비스를 이동 중에도 끊김 없이 사용할 수 있는 대표적인 차세대 이동통신 기술이다.

This study was to investigate which factors promote the usage of WiBro service, and to propose a few of research propositions on the relationships between these factor and characteristics of mobile Internet usage. To accomplish these research purposes, the study defined research variables such as factors promoting the usage of WiBro service, characteristic of mobile Internet usage, and types of user based on the review of mobile Internet service related studies. The study performed various statistical analyses using survey questionnaires on mobile Internet users, and finally proposed some research propositions, based on the analysis results, that could be used in the future studies.

WiBro network technologies developed mainly by Korea are one of very promising 4G technologies. WiBro has been standardized as international standard called Mobile WiMAX, and has been deployed in many countries. Emergency Services are infrastructural servicesa and very essential to induce subscribers from other types of networks. This paper propose a network architecture for supporting emergency services for mobile VoIP services in WiBro networks. The proposed architecture is based on WMF's architecture for internationa compatibilities, and reflects national considerations on interfacing PSAP for domestic compatibilities.

일반적인 IP 네트워크에서 이동성을 보장해 주는 대표적인 기술인 Mobile IP 에서는 핸드오버에 따른 패킷 유실의 문제를 피할 수 없다. 따라서 이러한 패킷 유실의 문제를 해결하기 위한 대안으로 Smooth Handover가 제시 되었다. 하지만 Smooth Handover의 경우 핸드오버 동안의 패킷 버퍼링과 핸드오버에 따른 패킷 순서 뒤바뀜의 문제가 발생하고 결과적으로 전체 네트워크의 성능이 감소하는 결과를 초래한다. 차세대 휴대 인터넷 기술인 와이브로(Wireless Broadband Internet. WiBro) 시스템에서도 역시 서비스 중인 단말이 핸드오버 시 동일한 문제가 발생한다. 특히 와이브로 시스템은 휴대성과 이동성을 보장하고 IEEE 802.16 표준을 기반으로 서비스 클래스에 따른 차별적인 서비스를 제공한다. 따라서 패킷 순서 뒤바뀜 문제를 해결하는 핸드오버 메커니즘이 휴대인터넷에서 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 와이브로 시스템에서 고속으로 이동 중인 단말이 핸드오버 시 발생할 수 있는 패킷 순서 뒤바뀜 문제를 해결하는 핸드오버 메커니즘을 제안 한다.

신규 통신서비스인 와이브로 시장을 개발, 확대하기 위해서는 시장을 일정한 기준에 의거 세분화하고 세분화된 시장을 목표시장 선정과 포지셔닝을 통해 비즈니스 실행을 효율화하는 전략이 요구된다. 이러한 비즈니스 차원에서의 정교한 접근은 신규 서비스의 조기 시장안착과 효율적인 시장확산에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다. 이에 본 고에서는 국내 일반인을 대상으로 시장조사를 수행하고 와이브로 현 이용자, 잠재 이용자, 비이용자를 중심으로 시장을 심층적으로 세분화하고, 각 세분시장을 공략하기 위한 비즈니스 전략을 제시하였다.

MBS (Multicast Broadcast Service) is defined in WiBro networks for implementing multicast-based services. However, most of the WiBro networks currently used in Korea do not have the MBS functionality and it causes some difficulty in implementing multicast-based services. This paper evaluates the performance of VoIP-based group communication services when implementing using the following two cases: unicast-based and multicast-based group communication systems. The performance evaluation is done using QualNet for each case in terms of the amount of network resource for the service, the delay and delay jitter of packets, and the difference of the delay of members in a group. The simulation result shows that the number of groups and members in a group in a WiBro network is limited because the amount of network resource for the service is increased according to the number of members in a group, and so, the MBS service is required in a WiBro network for a fully-fledged service of VoIP-based group communications. The simulation result also shows that, when a packet bundling is used, the number of groups and members in a group that can be supported in a WiBro network can be increased due to the decrease of the amount of network resource for the service.
