• This study investigates the relationships between extrinsic motivation (perceived usefulness), intrinsic motivation (perceived ease of use and perceived enjoyment), and attitude toward online community. With 252 valid responses, the research hypotheses are tested using by structured equation model. The results show that perceived ease of use affects perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment, that perceived enjoyment has a positive impact on perceived usefulness and attitude toward online community, and that perceived usefulness positively influences attitude toward online community. • In this study, we have developed an online learning community site using Humhub social network software and promote social constructive learning through the questions and answers in subject specific learning groups. By accumulating learning contents which consist of questions and answers about specific topics, learners can acquire knowledge by searching relevant topics and questions and can create and reconstruct knowledge as well as consuming knowledge by participating in self-regulated learning community. We have developed a mathematical editor feature which enables users to enter mathematical expression such as equations and greek characters. Online learning community sites can be used for inquiry based information education.

  • This study empirically examined the structural relationships among components of interactivity, affective commitment, and components of brand equity in on-line brand community. Interactivity was conceptualized as 4 components such as mapping, personalization, responsiveness and connectedness. Components of brand equity include brand associations, brand awareness, and brand loyalty. Using a sample of 127 university students of on-line brand community members in Busan, we empirically examined the study model. The results of this study showed that components of interactivity except connectedness had a significant effect on affective commitment, which in turn, had a significant positive effect on brand associations, brand awareness and brand loyalty.

  • Research on the user motivation of online brand community, the flow, community identification, brand attachment and the structural relationships between them This study is focused on the utilization motives of online brand community (emotional motivation, social motivation, informational motives), and their influences on each motivation on the flow and structural relationships between the brand identification and attachment. For the research, hierarchical chi-squal analysis, was used among Structural Equation Models, to statistically verify the size between the two paths. First, the research has proven the positive influence of user motivation of online brand community on flow. Especially on this research, user motivation of online brand community on flow was divided and analyzed into three motivations; emotional motivation, social motivation, informational motivation, the social and emotional motivation are proven to have the biggest influence on the flow and informational motivation has comparatively low influence on the flow. Secondly, this research will prove that the type of flow built on user motivation of online brand community can give positive influence on community identification and brand attachment. And third, the influence of community identification on brand attachment is very high on the flow. Result will clearly shows the flow built on user motivation of online brand community can help build brand attachment through community identification.

  • This study examines how online community activity influences social capital and the moderating effect of personal characteristic between them. Hierarchical regression and two-way ANOVA analysis were conducted with 9,479 samples. The results show that online community activity positively associated with off-line social capital, and it is observed that the effect in older people is stronger than younger people. This study extends previous perspective on the online community activity toward social capital and empirically proves that the activity have also an impact on off-line social capital. The moderating effect of age implies that activation plans of community for older people are required in order to increase social capital.

  • With the advent of social networking activity on the Internet, online community sites are becoming more popular. The main purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the influence of intermediary trust and system trust on the forum activity trust and information quality satisfaction. We assume that the intermediary trust and system trust come from the online community site itself, while the forum activity is made within a specific forum allowed on the online community site, and therefore forum activity trust and information quality satisfaction are related to a specific forum. The 591 valid questionnaire data were gathered from the users acting in forums allowed on the Samsung Economic Research Institute (SERI) (www. seri.org). The empirical results are as follows. First, the SERI intermediary trust and its system trust have positive influence on the SERI forum information quality, system quality, and perceived effectiveness. Second, the SERI intermediary trust contributes to reducing the SERI forum perceived risks, while the SERI system quality does not. Third, the higher the SERI intermediary trust is, the higher the SERI forum trust and information quality satisfaction increase.

  • One of the challenges in online community management is what level of perceived anonymity can be granted to encourage active participation from members while discouraging unhealthy activities. Few studies developed a scheme of anonymity and investigated how different levels of anonymity influence community activities. This study develops a classification scheme of anonymity encompassing the following three different levels : (1) real name(no anonymity), (2) nickname (partial anonymity), and (3) random assignment of a temporal ID (complete anonymity). Then, it examines how different levels of anonymity influence trust and perceived risk, which in turn affect virtual team performance. A series of laboratory experiments were performed, manipulating the levels of anonymity, in the context of well-structured communities that allow prior interactions among community members. The data was collected from 364 laboratory participants and analyzed using ANOVA and PLS. The results indicate that the difference of anonymity between (2) and (3) had not be significant and the only (1) could not guarantee the anonymity. The impact of anonymity on trust and perceived risk could not be significant in this situation. These findings could contribute to make more beneficial member identification strategies in online community practice.
