In order to investigate the effect of various pavement materials (artificial grass, natural grass, and clay sand) on the human thermal environment, the microclimate data in early autumn (air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and shortwave and longwave radiation) were measured and compared on each surface. The mean air temperature, humidity and wind speed of the pavement materials did not differ significantly and showed the greatest difference in the mean radiant temperature. Natural grass, which has the highest albedo, has the highest amount of shortwave radiation. The artificial turf had the highest surface temperature and the highest amount of longwave radiation. In the human thermal environment index PET, artificial grass > clay sand > natural grass. Natural grass had a maximum 2/3 level lower and a mean 1/2 level lower in PET as compared to artificial grass. The clay sand pavement had a maximum 2/3 level lower and a mean 1/3 level lower than the artificial grass. Natural grass had a maximum 1/3 level lower than the clay sand pavement. Their UTCIs showed smaller differences than the PETs. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully choose materials from the planning stage when designing outdoor spaces, including playgrounds.

Compressive strength in concrete has many affecting parameters and varies with exposure conditions. Although the concrete has same mix proportions, its properties are different with exposure conditions, and sea-environment can be classified into three groups such as tidal, atmospheric, and sea submerged region particularly. In this study, compressive strength was evaluated on 7-year-cured concrete and the results from previous equations (KDS, ACI, CEB, and JSCE) were compared with them. Furthermore the strength and carbonation progress were evaluated on concrete cured for 7 years exposed to three different sea environment. Three levels of w/c (water to cement) ratio (0.37, 0.42, and 0.47) and three different exposure conditions (tidal, atmospheric, and submerged) were considered. The results from wet-cured condition are all higher than those from the previously proposed equations, and the results from different sea exposure conditions (tidal, atmospheric, and submerged region) were lower than those from wet-cured condition. A reduction of strength was evaluated with increasing w/c ratio and the minimum strength was evaluated in the sea-submerged conditions. Several experimental constants applicable to the previous equations were obtained from regression analysis since the strength change with w/c ratios were not considered in those equations. Regarding carbonation depth with different exposure conditions, higher carbonation depth clearly was observed with increasing w/c ratios, and evaluated in the order of atmospheric, submerged, and tidal region. Considerable carbonation depth was observed in submerged and tidal region due to sulfate ion and dissloved carbon dioxide as well.
The purpose of this study is to search for the ways to diversify Outdoor/Environmental Education Program in the Nature Study Center(NSC), especially for the middle school students. For this study, various research methods such as literature review, questionnaire survey (448 students, 11 middle school teachers, 19 NSC staffs), interview and participant observation are used the process of this study consists of two steps. The first step is to define research questions through pilot survey and the second is to investigate the research questions, in the form of hypotheses through main survey. Nine hypotheses are formulated. Six are related with program elements (educational goals, student characteristics, staff resources, teaching methods, instructional resources, contents). three are related with program implementation process(preplan, implementation, post-evaluation). The hypotheses are tested and alternatives for program improvement are proposed. 1. Educational goals : Educational goals of NSC should be focused on Outdoor /Environmental Education and each NSC should specialize on its own theme. The objectives of every sub-program should be unified toward educational goals. 2. Student characteristics: The Outdoor/Environmental Education Program should reflect student characteristics: sex, urban/rural origins, normal/handicapped, number of visit and so on. 3. Staff resources : Provide qualified staff with professional knowledge and positive attitudes, reeducate staffs periodically, reduce management staff and increase teaching staffs. Provide permanent and well paid position, encourage and give opportunities and the middle school teachers to participate in program. 4. teaching method: Increase outdoor classes two way communication between teaching staffs and students adopt more open ended teaching method so that students can exercise coworks in small groups. 5. Instructional resources: Diversify NSC sites(mountains, coastal areas, urban areas and so on), teaching media (audio/visual equipments, graphic design of signs). Consider design for handicapped and integrate indoor and outdoor educational facilities. Plan nature trails with separate themes, allign nature trail so that it passes through diverse environments. 6. Content : Reflect characteristic site potential specialize on day or night program, on seasonal program, and on site specific social issues(such as interpreting of environmental damages around the NSCs). 7. Preplan: Get Information and know about visiting students in advance. Discuss with middle school teachers and adjust program weeks before visits if many or all of the students had already visited a NSC. arrange a visit to other NSC. Provide an introductory class for the teachers and students before they visit a NSC. 8. Implementation: During NSC visit and classes apply various and appropriate techniques to collect in formation for later evaluation. Improve NSC provided evaluation sheet so as to reflect student characteristic. Compare with formal education and investigate on effects of NSC program. 9. Post-evaluation: Formalize a post-evaluation process and organization. During the winter vacation, develop new programs based on the post-evaluationacation, for the next year. Also, have comparative evaluation meetings of staff from various NSCs during the winter vacation while there is no visitors and classes.
Airborne chlorides are transported to inland by sea wind to be attached to seashore concrete structure surface then penetrated into concrete structure members. Since the surface attached chloride amount are dependent on the amount of airborne chlorides, the prediction of distribution of airborne chlorides is important information in preventing chloride corrosion problems in seashore concrete structures. The prediction of surface chloride amount from airborne chlorides environment is extremely difficult than concrete directly in contact with seawater. In addition, their penetrating tendency is different from that of concrete immersed in seawater. In this study, properties of surface and penetrated chlorides under airborne chlorides environment are investigated. Concrete specimens were manufactured and exposed to marine environment for 3 years. The specimens were analyzed at the time durations of 1, 2, and 3 years to check surface chloride amount to penetrated chloride depth. The results revealed that there were certain differences according to surface roughness of concrete and with and without washing effect due to rainfalls. The evaluation results showed that penetrated chlorides depend on amount of airborne chlorides and duration of exposure. In addition, a notable tendency of having deeper chloride penetration and higher chloride content in concrete members under long-term exposure was observed.

The stone Buddha and Shrine of Unjusa temple (Korean Treasure No. 797) at Hwasun formed in Koryo Dynasty is unique style which faces each other the back parts of south and north within the stone Shrine. The stone Buddha and Shrine is highly evaluated in historical, artistic and academic respects. But, the stone properties have been exposed in the open system various aspects of degradations weathered for a long time without specific protective facilities. To inquire into relative deterioration and environmental factor, air temperature and relative humidity of the stone Buddha and Shrine were monitored for a year of the indoor and outdoor, respectively. As a result, the temperature shows increase and decrease according to the seasons in the tendency to clear. While the relative humidity is high to keep all four seasons. Highly relative humidity environment induces dew condensation on the interior of stone Buddha and Shrine. The dew condensation is recorded at the spring, summer and winter season. The summer season is double the total of spring and winter season. In the case of summer, dew condensation is long time continued due to high temperature and relative humidity that is kept by more than nearly 100%. There is progress towards chemical weathering throughout dissolve rock properties and alteration on the rock surface. In the case of winter, dew condensation is not kept for a long time as summer. In the winter, which showing a below zero may add physical weathering throughout moisture that happen by dew condensation to repeat freezing and thawing. Therefore, the reduction plan of the relative humidity effect on dew condensation should be prepared.
For the purpose of obtaining polycarbonate film which blocks ultra-violet ion beam was irradiated onto the surface of PC film. This method has gotten several advantages compared with the techniques, such as the protection of changes in film thickness and UV blocking material deposited onto a base film. In order to investigate UV blocking PC film, the optical and chemical characteristics, surface morphology and lightfastness were confirmed by UV/Vis, FTIR(ATR) spectroscopy, AFM, and Q-UV fasoess analyses. As a result, it was shown that the modified PC film was able to block almost all of UV region and easily control the degree of UV block. The optical changes in the film were attributed to chemical changes in PC surface by ion beam irradiation. Moreover, we expect that the modified PC film can durably block UV due to no changes in colour and UV transmittance after UV fastness test.

Recently, various solutions to support explosively growing mobile data traffic have attracted intensive attentions. However, the range of spectrum which can be exploited for mobile communications is very limited. Small cell networks are actively investigated because they can efficiently offload mobile data traffic from macro cells without using additional spectrum. In this paper, we developed a system-level simulator considering small cell networks in the indoor environments. We compare the performance of outage probability when a load-balancing algorithm is utilized or not. We can reduce the outage probability of congested BS with the load-balancing algorithm. In addition, overall outage probability of whole wireless systems can be reduced by using the proposed load-balancing algorithm.
The purpose of this study, due to recent increase of digital outdoor media, is to analyze the consumer experience of interaction with digital media. Through this study it was found that experience factor consisting of cognitive, emotional, and interactional factors has a mediating effect on brand preference and brand reliability which in turn influence consumers' purchasing intention. On the other hand, it was verified that the consumer satisfaction of the experience does not directly influence purchasing intention, but only through the mediation of brand reliability. This research has implications on the academic field as well as in work-level practices, as a study based on an actual operating digital media, not a laboratory simulation that verifies the importance of digital media experience in forming brand equity through immediate influence on brand preference and brand reliability.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate of the outdoor thermal environment by building scale and block type as variable factors. In this study, 18 cases of office in central business district that have different condition are compared about their surface temperature, HIP(Heat Island Potential), and MRT(Mean Radiant Temperature). They are simulated with 3-dimension numerical simulation software named Hoyano-model. The output results contain visualized distribution chart and numerical data. The results of evaluation are as follows. (1)The surface temperature of the building becomes higher as building coverage ratio is higher but floor area ratio is lower. In same conditions, unified block type is maximum $3.2^{\circ}C$ higher than divided block type. (2)HIP shows different daily pattern as block type. During daytime, divided block type is much higher than unified block type but after sunset, it is changed. (3)MRT shows different distribution pattern as sunlight moves expecially at noon. (4)As the results of this study, cases that have high floor area ratio condition show lower surface temperature by tendency to stay low indoor temperature in office building and big rate of windows on building surface.
Recently there are increasing demands for establishing its peculiar city image in Korea. In establishing a urban image, streetscapes of various functional regions in city have very important roles. And many streetscape were designed and are under design for that purpose. There are many factors involved in the image-generation of streetscape, and the facade is one of the most important factors. In this study, we surveyed many factors in the city-regions of various functions to find out desirable characteristics of facade for each region. And we are going to use there findings as a basic data in the future streetscape design. We selected traditional region(Insadong, Chongro-gu, Seoul), apartment-type residential region (Apkujung-dong, Kangnam-gu, Seoul), and newly developed-downtown (Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejun) as streetscapes of various functions for facade study. Texture, color, form, size, structure and location of the following facade components were surveyed and analyzed. The surveyed components were window, entrance, equipment, signboard, show window.
