A Study on Effectiveness Perception of Police Motorcycle Patrol (경찰 오토바이 순찰활동의 효과성 인식에 관한 연구)

  • Motorcycle patrol is used for traffic control and enforcement in highly congested areas. One of the major problems with this form of patrol is that it is extremely dangerous since just about any type of accident tends to cause harm to the rider. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of police motorcycle patrol, and to suggest the methods for improving the effectiveness of police motorcycle patrol. This study conducts the survey on 139 policemen that belong to Daejeon Provincial Police Agency that had implemented motorcycle patrol. By factor analysis, the intimacy between policemen and citizens, the excellence of patrol devices, the speed of response, and the appropriacy of patrol method are grouped as the independent variables. And the dependent variable is the effectiveness of police motorcycle patrol. The results of this study demonstrates that the effectiveness of police motorcycle patrol is affected statistically by the speed of response, the appropriacy of patrol, and the intimacy between policemen and citizens. But, the intimacy between policemen and citizens affected the effectiveness negatively. Therefore, police department must make the effort for increasing the speed of response and enhancing the appropriacy of patrol. Also, police department must make patrolmen sincerely conscious of the value of police-community relation.

  • In this study, we developed a PC - based motorcycle simulator based on the development technology of a virtual patrol motorcycle training system. This simulator has been developed to be applied to a variety of fields such as driving training for beginners, driver factor research, and system development such as ABS, which can be seen in advanced models. The weight of the motorcycle operated by the patrol guards is more than 400Kg. There is a lot of risk due to the nature of work without prior practice. Therefore, we implemented a study on the untilization of physical stress and temporal pressure in emergency situations. In order to get a feeling that the motorcycle simulator is operating in real-life, it is important that the mutual reliable signal transmission and operation feel between the driver and the simulator. In order to achieve this, we developed a system that can apply the sub-systems of the actual vehicle to the motorcycle simulator in order to generate the same operation feeling as the actual vehicle. Based on these results, we have developed a method of generating a feedback queue.

In order to get the impression that the motorcycle simulator is operating in a realistic way, it is important to have a reliable signal transmission and operation feeling between the driver and the simulator. In order to achieve this, we developed a system that can apply the sub-systems of the actual vehicle to the motorcycle simulator in order to generate the same operation feeling as the actual vehicle. Based on these results, We have developed a method for generating a feedback queue. Vehicle dynamics simulates real-time vehicle motion by receiving input from a steering wheel, accelerating / decelerating pedal, etc. operated by a driver on a vehicle simulator and transmitting the result to a visual and acoustic system, It is the central element of the simulator to generate. I want to summarize the main requirements of simulation dynamics.
