Combustion Instability Analysis Using Network Model in an Annular Gas Turbine Combustor (네트워크 모델을 이용한 환형 가스터빈 연소기에서의 연소불안정 해석)

  • Lean premixed combustion was successful in meeting current NOx emission regulations. However, these often leads to combustion instability. This phenomena results from the feedback relationship between heat release perturbations and acoustic pressure oscillations in the combustor. Researches on the combustion instability in an annular combustor have recently received great attention due to the enhanced NOx requirement in aero-engines. In this study, the thermoacoustic network model has been developed in order to calculate the acoustics for longitudinal as well as circumferential modes in the annular combustor. The combustion model in the network model is calculated by flame transfer function(FTF). Numerical and analytical results are compared to an measurement data.

가시화를 이용한 SI 엔진의 연소 진단

  • SI 엔진의 연소특징은 비정상 난류 예혼합 화염이며 여기서 내부 유동은 직접 화염 전파에 영향을 미치며 난류와 거시적 유동의 패턴 모두 중요한 역할을 한다. 내연기관 연소에서 난류는 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 통상 엔진 속도($\approx$흡입유동 속도)에 비례하며 그 주요 역할은 고속 운전 시 해당 사이클 내에 연소가 완료되는 데 기여하지만 출력저하, 제어 및 측정 그리고 사이클 변동과 관련하여 실질적으로 난류 제어를 통한 엔진 성능 개선은 사실상 불가능하다. 실물 엔진의 성능 파라미터로 주로 유동의 거시적 거동이 사용되며 이 유동과 연료 분사계가 혼합기 분포 상태와 화염 전파 방향을 결정하여 최종적으로 엔진의 성능을 지배한다. 따라서 가시화를 통한 연소 진단도 이 현상에 주목할 필요가 있으며 거시적 파라미터를 성능에 연관하는 다양한 기법이 존재하고 이들은 매우 풍부한 데이터베이스를 통해 비교적 정확한 성능의 예측을 가능하게 하고 이 점에 주목한 엔진만 성공을 거두었다. 이 거시적 현상에 주목하여 가시화를 통해 성층화 현상을 실험적으로 해석한 예를 제시하였다. SI 엔진 가시화에서 기법보다 중요한 것은 현상의 이해이다. 이를 위해 성공적 가시화 진단을 위해서는 우선 현상에 대한 모델링이 필요하고 이 모델에서 가시화를 통해 규명 가능한 현상을 추출해 내는 것이다.

A Study on Soot Formation in Premixed Constant-Volume Combustion at High Pressures (高壓下의 定積 豫混合氣燃燒에 있어서 煤煙생成에 關한 硏究)

  • The effect of pressure on soot formation in premixed propane-air combustion is investigated at high pressures over the pressure range of 1 to 5 MPa by using a specially designed constant volume combustion bomb. The combustiom chamber of disk type with eight spark plugs located on the circumference at an interval of 45deg is 100mm in diameter by 14mm thick. The end gases are compressed to high pressures by the eight converging flames. The soot volume fraction in the chamber center during the final stage of combustion at the highest pressure is measured by the in-situ laser extinction technique, and the burnt gas temperature during the same period is measured by the two-color method. It is found that the soot yield rises with 50 to 100% for the respective equivalence ratio range of 1.9-2.2 at an interval of 0.1 when the combustion pressure is increased from 1 to 5 MPa, and that the turbulent flames decrease in the soot yield as compared with the laminar flames because the burnt gas temperatures increase with the drop of heat loss.

  • A combustion chamber with a branch tube was built to investigate the characteristics of a spontaneous oscillating laminar premixed Bunsen flame. The flame behavior was observed, and the relation between the flame surface area and heat release rate was inspected. The equivalence ratio and mean velocity were fixed at 1.1 and 1.75 m/s, respectively. The amplitude of the pressure fluctuation in the combustion chamber was changed and the flame behavior was affected when the length ratio between the branch tube and combustion chamber (L:R) was varied. The $OH^*$, $CH^*$, and flame chemiluminescence had similar behavior qualitatively. There was linearity between the flame surface area and heat release rate.

LES Analysis on Combustion Characteristics of a Hydrogen/Methane Gas Turbine Combustor (LES 기법을 이용한 수소/메탄 가스터빈 연소기의 연소특성 분석)

  • Large eddy simulation (LES) of a partially premixed gas turbine combustor is conducted. Four different hydrogen compositions are considered to investigate the fuel composition effects on the flow field inside the combustor. The comparison with the experimental flame structure and velocity profile is conducted to verify the LES results, revealing that the partially premixed flame structure is altered when hydrogen composition is changed. The flame structure becomes shorter and thicker as the hydrogen composition is increased, and therefore, the flame effect in the rigid wall is minimized. The change in the recirculation zone at the combustor wall with hydrogen addition is further investigated. Overall, the LES with combustion model is quite promising for accurately predicting the reactive flow characteristics in connection with the fuel composition.

  • Measurements of heat release are very important for controling combustion instabilities, which are closely connected with combustion instabilities. $OH^{\ast}$ images were acquired through a ICCD in this study, which were in use as indicating index of the reacting region, global and local heat release rate in the lean premixed combustion. The objectives of this study are to see the effect of equivalence ratio on global heat release rate and local Rayleigh index distribution. The local Rayleigh index distribution was acquired by information from central section of flame. This information was from the line-of-sight images which were inverted by the Abel de-convolution. In each condition, the mean value of heat release increased exponentially with equivalence for a periodic time. Local Rayleigh index distribution cleary showed the region of amplifying or damping the combustion instability as the equivalence ratio increased. This could provide an insight on the region of combustion instability and the structure of flames on the equivalence ratio.

연소진단 용 광대역 코헤런트 반 스톡스 라만 분광기의 제작 및 정확도 분석.

  • 연소상태의 온도를 이동하면서 측정할 수 있는 광대역 코헤런트 반스톡스 라만 분광기를 제작하였다. 분광기의 온도 측정 정확도를 향상시키기 위하여 무모드레이저를 제작하여 스톡스광으로 사용하였다. 이동형 CARS 분광기에 적합하도록 CARS신호 측정용 단색기를 제작하여 분광기 내부에 설치 하였다. CARS 분광기의 온도 측정의 정확도를 알아보려고 흑연관 전기로를 이용하여 표준 복사온도계와 CARS 분광기로 측정한 온도의 차이를 측정하였다. 장치의 온도 정확도는 1000 K - 2400 K 사이의 온도영역에서 2%이내 였다. 무모드 색소레이저의 출력 스펙트럼의 시간에 따른 안정도를 측정하여 온도측정에 미치는 오차를 조사한 결과 1500 K에서 5 시간 동안 1.5 %이내 였다. 평면 화염 버너에서 프로판공기 예혼합 화염의 온도 분포를 측정하여 이 장치의 응용 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • This study has investigated the relationship between heat release fluctuations and the flow perturbations in a partially premixed gas turbine combustor using a commercial CFD code. Special focus of the current work is placed on the effect of equivalence ratio on the flame dynamics in a partially-premixed system. As the first step for this combustion dynamics study in the non-perfectly premixed combustor, flame behaviors are modeled and then compared with measured results under both steady and unsteady conditions. The calculated results of the flame transfer function with equivalence ratio fluctuation are found to well capture the main qualitative characteristics of the combustion dynamics for the partially-premixed flames.

  • This paper present result of numerical simulation of premixed combustion around a triangle Bluff Body. And a numerical simulation of a premixed flame stabilization by a bluff body was performed using LES Model. The calculated results from the LES showed a good agreement with experiment data than k-model. Premixture combustion has flammability limit, quenching distance, smallest ignition energy has the combustion quality of the back. Bluff body makes a recirculation zone. Therefor velocity of behind bluff body is very slow. It was caused by slowly position speed and the fire occurred after the Bluff Body. Occurrence of fire it made the waste gas of high speed and the thrust made well.
