Recently many treatment strategies have been developed to prevent suicidal ideation as it is increasing. Various community facilities and university centers are carrying out research to develop efficient treatment programs. This study examined how music can be used therapeutically for a case who is going through severe suicidal ideation. Various music therapy techniques are utilized including song psychotherapy, music and imagery and role play instrumental improvisation. A woman with severe depression for seven one-hour session. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected to examine the changes in the suicidal ideation. As results, there were lots of changes in the client's attitude towards life through exploring inner world. Much of stability and sense of security were gained and emotional hardship was resolved in the process of therapy. The client was able to structure future plans productively as the suicidal ideation was reduced. In the process of role play instrumental improvisation, music allowed her to express issues regarding relationships with others, attitudes and in other areas as well. Music was used "as therapy" and solved many repressed emotions related to the trauma including psychological inhibition, tension, helplessness, lack of energy. Further music was able to bring the "false" ego with "true ego". The study implies that various psychotherapeutic interventions can alleviate depression and reduce suicidal ideation.

수의사는 동물질병의 예방과 치료뿐만 아니라 축산물의 위생관리 및 안전성확보에 관한 최고의 전문가이다. 또한 축주와 가장 긴밀한 관계를 유지하고 있으며 신뢰관계를 구축하고 있다. 따라서 축산현장에서 올바른 동물용 의약품의 사용과 사양관리에 관해 적극적으로 지도$\cdot$홍보하는 책임있는 수의사의 역할이 잔류예방과 안전한 축산물의 생산을 위한 관건이라 할 수 있다.

We performed a comprehensive meta-analysis on whether Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) eradication can prevent gastric cancer in individuals with precancerous lesions (chronic atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, and dysplasia). The studies evaluating the effect of H. pylori eradication on gastric cancer were searched from PubMed, KoreaMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library. Subgroup analyses by precancerous lesions, regions and follow-up time were performed. Six randomized clinical trials were included. In the overall population, H. pylori eradication significantly decreased the risk of gastric cancer (risk ratio [RR]=0.56; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.41-0.77, p<0.01). Eradication therapy significantly reduced the risk of gastric cancer in Asian and group who followed up more than 10 years (RR=0.51; 95% CI: 0.35-0.73, p<0.01; I²=0%, p=0.46). However, subgroup analysis according to the precancerous lesions did not show any significant results (p>0.05). In the general population especially in Asian population, H. pylori eradication can reduce the risk of gastric cancer. The effect of the eradication treatment is remarkable upon the long-term follow-up. In contrast, there is insufficient evidence whether the eradication should be recommended for the individuals with precancerous lesions.

1991년 11월부터 인삼연초연구원의 제의에 따라 국립보건원 AIDS과에서 고려홍삼을 HIV 감염자들에게 제공하기 시작하였으며 지금도 일부 동일한 환자들을 대상으로 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그간의 연구 성과와 최근 국내에서 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 치료제들에 대한 내성실태에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

당뇨병 치료 중 많은 환자들이 지나치게 혈당을 낮추는 데에만 신경을 쓰는 경우가 있다. 하지만 우리 몸의 건강유지를 위해서는 적절한 수치의 혈당유지가 중요하다. 당뇨병 치료과정에서 발생할 수 있는 저혈당과 그에 대한 처치 및 예방법의 인식은 또 다른 안전한 당뇨병 치료의 길을 알려 줄 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate drowning death patients on clinical care and prevention. Drowning accidents that occurred in the Republic of Korea were identified by using the Emergency Activity Daily Report Data from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). The age of drowning accidents was 20-29 years (25.4%). Drowning cases for the months of August was 17.6%. The main circumstance involved in the drowning cases was swimming (45.0%). Half of swimming incidents related the drowning accidents of people attempting to save a life of a family member or friend from the water. The most common location was at a lake or reservoir (40.2%). Drowning is a main cause of accidents in the Republic of Korea. Preventive strategies that may be beneficial for persons contain life jackets or life rings supply, upgrading swimming ability, placing lifeguards based on public education activities.
