  • 지난 10월 20일 제주도국제컨벤션센터에서 아시아 태평양가금학회(APPC 2014)가 개최되었다. 국내는 물론 전 세계 가금학계 인사들이 한 자리에 모인 자리에서 다한영농조합법인 이만형 조합장이 양계 생산 부분 농림축산식품부 장관상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다. 이만형 조합장을 만나 16년째 탄탄하게 운영하고 있는 다한영농조합의 그간 활동사항 및 성공요인 그리고 앞으로 조합계획에 대해 들어보았다.

설문조사분석-2007년, 양계업 84%가 어두울 것으로 전망

  • 지난 2월 22일 축산회관 대회의실에서 본회 2007년도 정기총회가 성황리에 개최되었다. 대의원을 비롯해 이날 참석한 전국의 각 지회.지부에서 활동 중인 회원을 대상으로 양계인들의 설문 답변을 받아 분석한 내용을 정리하였다. 본 설문에 참여한 농가는 총 71명으로 채란인 36.6%(26명), 육계인 35.2%(25명), 종계인 16.9%(12명), 기타 11.2%(8명)가 설문에 응하였다.

  • 축산 기자재를 제조 유통 판매하는 (주)다르마가 최근 사세 확장을 위해 익산시 삼기면으로 사무실을 이전하면서 효율적인 제품 공급에 앞장선다. 특히 7만수 규모의 직영육계농장을 통해 기계 테스트 과정을 거쳐 농가가 원하는 효율적인 기계 공급과 유통에 앞장선다는 계획을 갖고 있다. 앞으로 3년 이내에 동남아 시장 진출을 꾀하는 (주)다르마를 찾아 사업방향에 대해 들어 본다.

Composting Potentials of Food Waste in Seoul and Its Utilization (서울시 음식물쓰레기의 퇴비화 이용 방안)

  • Composting is an ecologically sound method of recycling organic waste. Its advantages include the maintenance of soil fertility and improvement of soil physicochemical property. It is an essential part of the waste minimization. That is, composting should be included to increase the recycling rate up to more than 20%. To encourage composting of waste, it is necessary to develop some effective composters of small scale facilities and densely populated areas. For medium and large-size facilities, the optimum process should be selected. Technical counselling and support is desirable for small scale composters for urban residential and rural area. On the other hand, adequate amendment of relevant legislation should be followed to encourage composting. An example of unreasonable legislation is the current fertilizer management act. According to the regulation, the maximum allowable limit of lead in the compost is less than 150ppm, which is too strict. This limit should be increased to at least 300ppm, which is the observed level in most states in USA. At the same time, sound infrastructure should be established and decent publicity work should be achieved to accelerate composting activity. In this paper the desirable standard for some heavy metal concentration in the compost were suggested.

  • Micro climatic conditions within the livestock facility are affected by various factors such as ventilation, cooling, heating, insulation and latent and sensible heat generation from animals. In this study, numerical BES method was used to simulate energy flow inside the poultry house. Based on the BES method and THI concept, degree of thermal stress of poultry was evaluated according to the locations in South Korea. Comparison of THI values within the poultry house was also carried out according to the stocking densities to reflect recent animal-welfare issue. Significant decrease in thermal stress of poultry was observed when the stocking density of $30kg/m^2$ was applied in the change of the seasons(p<0.05) however, there was no statistically significant difference in summer season(p>0.05). It meant that installation of proper cooling system is urgently needed. For Iksan city of Jeollabuk-do province, total 252 hours of profit for thermal stress was found according to decrease in the stocking density.

Effects of Litter Type and Gender on Behavior Characteristics and Growth Performance of Korean Hanhyup Broiler (한국형 한협 육계의 행동 특성과 성장성에 미치는 Litter Type과 Gender의 영향)

  • The Korean Hanhyup broiler has commercialized native meat-type chicken. This study aimed to determine the effects of two types of litter material-sawdust and rice husk, and gender on the Korean Hanhyup broiler. Chicks (n=416) were randomly assigned in a $2{\times}2$ factorial design by type of litter material and gender. The behavior of chicken's was monitored continuously for 12 hours during the $1^{st}$ through $8^{th}$ week of age. The time spent on standing, sitting, and walking and the frequency of drinking, feeding, preening, dust bathing, flapping, and aggressive pecking, and pecking of chicken's behavior were recorded. The behavior of chickens during the starter (1 to 4 weeks) and finisher period (5 to 8 weeks) was compared to observe the changes upon maturity. Our results indicate that litter material type and gender have no effect on the behavior of chickens. However, aggressive pecking and pecking caused increment in the rice husk as compared to sawdust (P<0.05). Sawdust as litter material for bedding was found to be better than rice husk with respect to Korean Hanhyup broiler behavior.

Physicochemical Characteristics of Processed Chicken Products Containing Black Soldier Fly Larvae Powder for Pet Dogs (반려견을 위한 동애등에 유충분말을 첨가한 닭고기 가공품의 이화학적 특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of adding black soldier fly larvae powder (BSFP) in the manufacturing of processed chicken products for dogs using poultry by-products. Chicken breast and Mechanically Deboned Chicken Meat (MDCM) were used for chicken products. To evaluate the effect of the addition of BSFP, the chicken products without BSFP were compared with the chicken products with 1%, 1.5%, and 2% BSFP added. As the amount of BSFP in processed chicken products increased, the protein content and redness increased, and the lightness decreased (P<0.05). Therefore, BSFP showed potential to be used as an additive to improve protein content in the production of processed dog food using poultry by-products.
