  • Fibrous hamartoma of infancy in the middle ear is extremely rare. We report the case of a 26-month-old male patient who presented with a mass in the left middle ear. A temporal bone CT scan showed complete opacification of the left middle ear and mastoid air cells without ossicular erosion. On MRI, the mass revealed heterogeneous signal intensities indicative of fat and fibrous components. A definitive diagnosis was made postoperatively based on the histological results. Although rare, fibrous hamartoma of infancy should be considered as a differential diagnosis of a middle ear mass during childhood.

  • The paper investigates the determinants of female, maternal, and male employment in a comparable setting using an unbalanced panel data of 29 OECD countries from 2000-2013. Our empirical results show that early childhood childcare and education (ECEC) is positively associated with female employment. Furthermore, we find that ECEC does not hurt male employment. We also find that tax rates on the second earner are negatively associated with male employment as well as female employment. The estimated coefficients of ECEC, social expenditure, tax rates, and tertiary education attainment rates in maternal employment regressions are much larger in the absolute value than those in female employment regressions. Policy implications of our analysis are that an expansion of ECEC, a lower tax on secondary earner, and education are key to promote the total employment as well as female employment.

Second, among the sub-factors of listening competence, comprehending and interpreting, and responding exerted a statistically significant negative influence on teacher-parent communication difficulties. Third, listening competence had a statistically significant positive correlation with teacher-child interaction. Fourth, among the sub-factors of listening competence, responding, comprehending and interpreting, analyzing and evaluating exerted a statistically significant positive influence on teacher-child interaction.

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop a theory on the early childhood caring experience of North Korean refugee mothers and how such caring affects how they deal with the socio-psychological problems they face as North Korean refugees. Methods: Data were gathered by indepth interviews, participant observation, and medical records, and were analyzed using the Grounded Theory methods of Strauss and Corbin (1998). Results: From open coding 62 concepts, 23 subcategories and 11 categories were derived, and the North Korean refugee mothers' caring experience was revealed to be 'hopeful upbringing'. A central theme common to the participants was 'coexistence of expectations and worries'. Conclusion: The results of this study provide theoretical grounds to understand North Korean refugee mothers' child care experiences and offer personalized nursing and a deeper understanding of their needs by looking at their experience. Findings may also be useful to help nurses who care for North Korean refugee mother-child dyads in the community and in clinical settings to gain insight on this special needs group, and facilitate the development of interventions based on better understanding of the mothers' experiences.

The participants expressed and shared their experiences through photos and discussions using the Photo-voice method under the theme of 'community life, its meaning and change'. The main themes were 1. In the past, 'community life,' non-meaningful space; 2. Now, we have shared identity, 'You are not alone'; 3. Our village which is a new place in my life. The article also may suggest issues on both community intervention for early children development program and organization for fosterers as social capital. Additionally, photo-voice method enabled participants to find the way to restructure their community from non-place to place. There were three stages, the first was to reflect on their community, the second was to re-inhabit in the community, and the last was to restore the community.

First, the construct system of the revised early childcare curriculum and kindergarten curriculum of the three institutions in 2017 is different. However, it is more specific according to its characteristics, and the revision focus is given in the same direction. Second, The revised emphasis of the curriculum establish itself with three qualities and abilities that must be nurtured through infancy and clarifies ten childhood images. Also, Emphasis is placed on the establishment of curriculum and management to implement these. Expert review is needed to ensure that the content presented in childhood images is appropriate and does not emphasize the establishment of curriculum and management without ensuring teacher autonomy.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of emotional labor of disabled infant teachers on job stress and to understand the mediated effect of resilience in these relationships. The subject of the study is a disabled infant teacher at a daycare center specialized in disabled children. The survey was conducted on a self-contained basis, and a total of 203 copies were recovered and 194 were analyzed except for 9 unfaithful responses. First, the higher the level of emotional labor, the higher the job stress. Second, the higher the level of emotional labor, the lower the resilience. Third, resilience had a partial mediated effect in the impact of emotional labor on job stress. Therefore, measures are needed to prevent job stress and improve resilience for disabled infant teachers.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the relationships among childcare teachers' emotional intelligence, daycare center directors' emotional leadership, and teacher-infant interactions. Also, this study examines whether a daycare center director's emotional leadership would mediate the correlation between a childcare teacher's emotional intelligence and teacher-infant interactions. A questionnaire was given to 293 childcare teachers. Using SPSS version 21.0, the data were analyzed for Pearson's correlation, hierarchical regression analysis, the Sobel-test, and the meditation effect proposed by Baron and Kenny. The findings are as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between a childcare teacher's emotional intelligence, the director's emotional leadership, and teacher-infant interactions. Second, the influence on teacher-infant interactions from directors' emotional leadership was relatively greater than childcare teachers' emotional intelligence. Finally, the emotional leadership of daycare center directors partially mediated the relationship between childcare teachers' emotional intelligence and teacher-infant interactions. This study provides significant empirical data for improving childcare.

In this study, the subjects and operation modules of teacher qualification training were examined. As a result of the study, it was found that kindergarten teachers without child care teacher qualifications needed 4 subjects and 12 credits, and teachers with only child care teacher qualifications needed 14 subjects and 30 credits. As qualification training institutions, the Department of Early Childhood Education at a 4-year University, the Department of Early Childhood Education at a junior College, and the Korea National Open University were proposed.
