An epidemiological study of metagonimiasis along the upper reaches of the Namhan River (남한강 상류의 Metagonimus 유행에 대한 연구)

  • An epidemiological study of Metogonimus infection was undertaken along the upper reaches of the Nmhn River, with special consideration on the species (type) of the worms collected from humans. Eggs of Metogonimus spp. were detected from 15 (9.7%) of 154 people examined in Umsong-gun, and from each Infected person (5 cases) 6.015- 24,060 worms (mean 13,2331 were recovered after treatment with praziquantel (10 mg/kg). Eggs were also detected from 37 (48.1% of 77 people In Yongwol-gun, from whom (27 casesl 1-4,965 worms (mean 1,2151 were collected. The worm from Umsong-gun consisted of both Metagonimus Miyata type and Metagonimus takohashii, whereas those from Yongwol-gun consisted of only Metqsonimus Miyata type. When the uterine eggs of the two kinds and M. yokogawoi (obtained from people In Tamjin River basin) were morphologically compared, it was suggested that the egg size should be a good Indicator for discrlmination of the species or type. The source of human Infection was proved to be fresh water fleshes: 49 of 52 Znsco plntvpus examined, 6 of 8 Hemibcrbus loniroskis, 13 of 15 Pseunogobio esuinl:, 4 of 6 Odontobutis obscura intemfptn, and 17 of 18 Corqssiw carassiw were found Infected with Metosonimw metacercariae. From the results, it is concluded that the upper reaches of the Namhan River are endemic foci of Metogonimn Miyata type and M. takahashii.

Estimating the Damage Cost of Deforestation due to Limestone Mining: Focusing on Donghae, Samcheok and Yeongwol City (석회석 광산에 의한 산림 피해의 비용 추정: 동해시, 삼척시, 영월군을 중심으로)

  • This study estimates the WTP for the plan of solving deforestation due to limestone mining and calculates that damage cost using contingent valuation method. As the results of analysing a dichotomous choice CV data, the yearly mean WTP per household for the plan is 5,045 won(95% confidence interval : 3,729~6,360 won) in single bounded CV model and is 4,361 won(95% confidence interval : 3,710~5,012 won) in double bounded CV model. The damage cost of deforestation due to limestone mining can be estimated as 55.3% of WTP for the plan which is assigned to restoring the deforestation area to the original or similar alternative state. The average yearly deforestation cost of 1 ha due to limestone mining is reached 20.90 million won(95% confidence interval : 16.53~25.27 million won). And the asset value of that 1 ha damage is 160.02 million won(95% confidence interval : 126.56~193.49 million won). The fact is found that the damage cost of deforestation using replacement cost method is likely to be underestimated. The total damage cost of deforestation because of limestone mining in 3 cities (Donghae, Samcheok, Yeongwol) is 204.0 billion won(95% confidence interval : 161.4~246.7 billion won) which is composed of 26.5% for Donghae, 28.9% for Samcheok, and 44.6% for Yeongwol according to the damage size of deforestation due to limestone mining in 3 cities.

Potassium Supply Characteristics in Different Forest Soils (지역별(地域別) 산림토양(山林土壤)의 K(Potassium) 공급(供給) 특성(特性))

  • Generally potassium in the soil can be remained as water soluble, exchangeable, and available types, respectively. Theses types of potassiums are also known to keep their kinetic relationships to each other. The Purpose on this research was to investigate types and relationships of potassium in the soil, and the characteristics of potassium supply in different forest soils. The results could be summarized as follows; 1. The amounts of available potassium in A and B horizon soils by continuous leaching with 0.01N-HCl were as follows : for A Horizon soils, pohang(Gray brown forest soils), Changsung (Brown forest soils), and Youngwol(Dark red forest soils) were ranged from 0.2me/l00g to 0.8me/100g, Taean(Red and Yellow forest soils) was 0.1-0.6me/100g, Kapyung(Brown forest soils) was 0.2-0.4me/100g. For the B layer, Youngwol was 0.1-0.5me/100g, Pohang, Taean, Kapyung were 0.1-0.4me/100g, Changsung was 0.1-0.3me/100g, respectivly. 2. Of ten times-pulse leaching with 0.01N-HCl for A layer soil, more 80% of total available potassium leaching were recovered by the second pulse as leachate for Pohang, Changsung, Youngwol, while similar amounts of potassium in the leachate were obtained with the third pulse leaching for Kapyung, Taean, respectively, On the other hand, the 80 % release of available potassium from the B layer soil was obtained by the second pulse leaching for all areas investigated. 3. For the relationships between soluble potassium and exchangeable potassium, the exchangeable potassium was increased while the soluble potassium was not changed significantly in B layer. And both soluble potassium and exchangeable potassium in A layer were similar. For the relationship between exchangeable potassium and available potassium in both A and B layers, the amounts of available potassium increased by 1.2 to 1.5 times as the exchangeable potassium increased. 4. For distribution of all types of potassium throughout locations investigated, the types of potassium were in the decreasing orders of available, exchangeable, and soluble. 5. The simplified method for an analysis of all types of potassium by sequential leaching with 0.01N-HCl should be developed not only with respect to time-saving and efficiency but also verification of the relationship between available potassium and tree growth.

  • Hierarchically controlled sequence stratigraphic analysis shows that the Lower Ordovician mixed carbonatesiliciclastic Mungok Formation, Korea consists of three depositional sequences: T1, T2, and T3 in ascending order. Sequence boundaries are generally marked by abrupt transition from coarse-grained shallow-water carbonates to finegrained deeper-water carbonates mixed with fine-grained siliciclastics, and show indication of subaerial exposure such as karstification. Within this sequence stratigraphic framework, facies characteristics indicate that the Mungok sequences were mostly deposited on a subtidal ramp without slope break. The Mungok ramp had been under the influence of frequent tropical storm activity during deposition. The difference in lithology of tempestites seems to have been controlled by the nature of substrates and by proximality. High-frequency cycles consist of upward-shallowing facies successions. Cycles of shallow-water and basinal deposits are not well represented, probably due to cycle amalgamation. Cycle stacking patterns do not show a consistent thickness change that is usually associated with a large-scale sea-level change probably because of unfilled accommodation space.

  • Release and fire/explosion tests of flammable gas are extremely dangerous. Furthermore, it is difficult to select the site where the experiment can be performed. In these reasons, gas flow analysis(CFD) has been used as much as possible. However, with the opening of the Energy Safety Empirical Research Center in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do in October 2016, it was possible to conduct releases and detection tests of small scale combustible gas as well as large scale / high pressure / ultra low temperature experiments. In this study, LPG leaked after the calibration and placement of the sensor, the sensor detected LPG and the data were visualized as a contour map. And the differences between the actual release(28s, max 3.7[m]) and the analysis were analyzed compared to the FLACS analyzed under the same conditions.

A Study to Apply the Logic Model for Evaluating Outcomes of Revitalization Projects of Rural Centers: Focusing on Regional Capacity Strengthening in Yeongwol-gun (농촌중심지활성화(선도지구) 사업에 대한 성과평가 방안으로서의 논리모델 적용 가능성 탐색: 영월군 지역역량강화 분야를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to apply the logic model in order to evaluate outcomes of revitalization projects of rural centers as a part of the regional capacity strengthening in Yeongwol-gun. According to the study results, first of all, it was unclear to answer for questions what, how and why to lead the project, when examining logical associations among program inputs, activities, outputs and outcomes. As an alternative method, the logic model has been applied, and this in turn led to clarify the goals, inputs, contents, outputs, outcomes as well as overall outcome goals and purpose of the current projects. Second of all, the initial, intermediate and long term outcome goals of the current project were indistinctly specified, and moreover, their evaluation methods were also unclear. By applying the logic model to the current regional capacity strengthening project, it was able to figure the distinction between program outputs and outcomes, and specify initial, intermediate and long term target goals as well as their evaluation tools. It is therefore to conclude that the logic model has a possibility to apply to a project evaluation, especially in the sense that this method considers efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of each project.

Calculation of low flow for estimating TMDL (허용 부하량 산정을 위한 저수유량 산정 방안)

  • The low fow analysis for small-mid sized river basins is very difficult because of insufficient flow data or ungauged basins. The objective of this study is to suggest effective method of low flow using area function method for calculating Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) by considering environmental carrying capacity. Two watersheds which are Juchon watershed having $606km^2$ areas and ungauged watershed having $4,551km^2$ areas were selected for this study. As a result of application, the low flow in the downstream of Juchon River and the Han River after confluence of Okdong River were $1.9m^3/s$ and $20.7m^3/s$, respectively. Then we consider the target BOD of 1.0-1.2mg/l in Youngwol prefecture, the TDML was estimated 164-197kg/day and 1,788-2,146kg/day, respectively. This approach will useful for estimating TDML to insufficient watershed of flow data and ungauged watershed of flow data.

  • To increase production of Tricholoma matsutake, experiments were carried out in a mountain located in Keumma 2-ri, Joocheon-myun, Yongwol-gun, Kangwon-do, Korea during the period from April to November 1979. The area of the experiment showed pH 6.55 of soil acidity and the rock was found to be granite. Among its vegetation, the major growths were Pinus densiflora Siebold et Zuccarini, Rhododendron mucronulatum Turcz., Rhododendron schlippenhachii Max., Lespedeza bicolor and Pteridium aquilinum (Linne) Kuhn var. japonicum Nakai. Of two equally divided areas of A and B in which pine mushrooms grew, artificial methods such as thinning the upper portion of land raking and water-spraying were applied to area B only, where 21% increase of the production was obtained as compared with the control area A.

The Recognition of Body Shape and the Attitude toward Weight Control of Middle School Students (중학생의 체형에 대한 인식 및 체중 조절태도 - 강원도 영월군을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition of body shape, the difference between self-evaluated obesity and obesity index of RBW, and attitude toward weight control of middle students. The questionnaires were completed by 195 male and 189 female students of liveing in Yongwol county. The average stature of the boys is 166.97$\pm$6.21cm, the girls is 158.13$\pm$5.83cm, and the average weight of the boys is 57.97$\pm$12.39kg, the girls is 52.88$\pm$8.35kg. 2. In the present body structure of them, the underweight structure is 6.0%, the normal weight structure is 87.2%, and the overweight structure is 6.7%. In the recognition of their own body structures, there are meaningful differences between boys and girls. 3. In the contentment degree of the present body structure of their own, the underweiht structure is much more satisfied with it.(p〈0.001) It shows a meaningful difference between boys and girls. 25.6% boys are satisfied with their own body structures, and 7.4% girls are satisfied with it.(p〈0.001) 4. In the interest degree about the weight's control, 87.1% is interested in it, it is lower in the underweight structure. 88.0% girls and 77.4% boys are interested in the weight's control. There is a meaningful difference between boys and girls, too.(p〈0.001) Each of the weight groups has differences in a experienced or experiencing for the weight's control. 5. The recognition degree of the present body structure showed the meaningful positive relation to the contentment degree of the present body structure and the weight's control.(p〈0.001)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the ordinances of local government in Korea to provide improvement plans for the ordinances of Drone industry. To this end, all Drone ordinances in Korea were reviewed. Design/Methodology/Approach - In this study, literature research methods were mainly used for the analysis. Furthermore, it was based on domestic laws and ordinances of local government, and preceding research data regarding government policies. Findings - Based on the analysis of domestic drone industry ordinances, the enactment of drone industry ordinances by local governments was rapidly increasing. In addition, it was urgent to enact ordinances for the use and support of drones in each region. The implication that it is necessary to subdivide the contents according to the characteristics of each region was drawn. In most of the ordinances, provisions on the basic plan and implementation plan of the drone industry could not be found. It was found that it was necessary to foster an efficient drone industry through the establishment and operation of short-term and long-term plans. Implications were drawn that it is necessary to revitalize the drone industry and expand the drone use industry. Research Implications or Originality - This paper suggest the establish an ordinance for utilizing and supporting Drone industry. Additionally, establishment of suitable ordinance for regional characteristics is needed. In future research, detailed data on Yeongwol's Drone industry based on survey should be derived. Moreover, the development plan and implication for drone industry should be derived through analysis of the survey data.
