Analysis of Learning Objectives on Elementary School Biology (초등학교 자연과 생물 영역의 교육 목표 분석)

  • The consistency and balance of objectives by objective domains in units, sub-units and instructional units were investigated. The 6th elementary biology curricular teaching guidebooks were analysed. Domains of objectives are cognitive, inquiry process, instrumental skill, creative, affective and STS. Cognitive objectives were most dominant in all units, sub-units and instructional units. But no objective for creative domain were suggested. In unit and sub-unit, proportions of objectives were cognitive, inquiry process, affective, instrumental skill and STS domains in order. Objectives for cognitive and inquiry process domains were more than others in instructional units, Except cognitive and inquiry process domains, objectives for the others were not consistent in all units, sub-units and instructional units. Especially, the percentages of objectives for affective domain decreased in units, sub-units and instructional units orderly. These resulted from teaching objective domains categorized formally, Thus, it is necessary to develope curriculum and textbook to be consistent and balanced with objective domains and reflect upon the characteristics of them.

  • 이 논문에서 제안한 ICA기반 피처추출 알고리즘은 다차원 영상에서 각 픽셀의 반사도 분광영역이 서로 다른 물체타입(목표피처와 배경피처)으로 이루어진 선형 혼합 분광영역으로 가정되는 픽셀에 대한 목표피처 탐지를 목적으로 한다. Landsat ETM+ 위성영상은 다차원 데이터구조로 이루어져 있으며, 영상에는 추출하고자하는 목표피처와 여러 종류의 배경피처들이 혼재한다. 이 논문에서는 목표피처(김양식장) 주변의 배경피처(갯뻘, 바닷물 등)들을 효과적으로 제거하기 위하여 목표피처의 픽셀 분광영역을 배경피처의 픽셀 분광영역으로 직교투영하게 된다. 픽셀내의 나머지 목표피처 분광영역의 양은 배경피처의 분광영역을 제거함으로써 추정하게 된다. 이 논문에서 제안한 ICA기반의 피처추출 방법의 우수성을 확인하기 위하여 Landsat ETM+ 위성영상에서 김양식장 피처를 추출하는데 적용하였다. 또한 피처추출 후 제거되지 않고 남아 있는 잡음(noise)정도와 피처추출 정확도 측면에서 전통적으로 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 최대우도 분류방법과 비교실험을 하였다. 결과적으로 이 논문에서 제안하는 방법이 목표피처 주변의 혼합분광영역에서 배경피처를 효과적으로 제거하여 추출하고자 하는 목표피처를 추출하는데 있어 우수한 탐지 성능을 보임을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on Aims for Affective Development in National Curriculum of Mathematics (수학과 국가교육과정의 정의적 영역 목표 고찰)

  • This study discusses on aims for affective development in national curriculum of mathematics. Firstly, affective characteristics of school mathematics studied in Korea are investigated. Secondly, aims for affective development in the Korean national curriculum of mathematics from the 1st curriculum to the current one are inspected. Thirdly, aims for affective development in national curriculum of Hong Kong, Singapore and Finland are researched. From the result, suggestions on the statement about aims for affective development are proposed.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 자동 인식 시스템(AVI:Automatic Vehicle Identification)구현에 있어 목표 영역이 되는 차량 번호판과 운전자 얼굴의 특진요소를 효율적으로 추출하기 위한 방법에 대해 다루고자 한다. 이를 위해 카메라를 두 대 설치하여 한 대의 카메라로부터는 차량 번호판 영역을 추출하고 또 하나의 카메라로는 운전자의 얼굴영역을 추출한다. 목표가 되는 두 영역의 추출을 위해 환경에 불변인 경계선 추출 방법을 제안하였고, 히스토그램의 특성을 이용하여 목표영역을 추출한다. 최종적으로 차량 번호판의 경우 추출된 번호판 영역 에 다시 X, Y 라인히스토그램을 이용하여 문자영역의 분리를 행하였고, 운전자의 경우 눈, 코, 입 등에 대한 특징을 추출하였다.

Importance of objectives of Housing unit in Home Economics by three systems of action of Home Economics teachers in middle school (중학교 가정과 교사가 인식하는 주생활 영역의 세 행동체계별 목표 중요도)

  • The purpose of this research was to develop objectives of Housing contents in Technology$\cdot$Home Economics by three systems of action and to find out the importance of the objectives of the teachers have taught the class. The 303 teachers from 183 middle schools replied the mail questionnaire during September, 2003. The data were analyzed by SPSS/win. The 21 objectives for each system of action were developed based on the textbooks, teachers guides, and other related references. The importance of the objectives related to communicative system of action was the highest, respectively followed by the ones related to technical and emancipatory systems of action. Indoor Environment & Equipment was more likely to be important than Maintenance & Repairs as the objectives related to communicative system of action, while Usage of Living Space was less likely to be important than the other two sub-units. The importance of the objectives was somewhat differed by the general characteristics of the teachers. The older are the more important the objectives related to technical system of action. Female, Home Economics teachers, who learned philosophy of Home Economics were more likely to think than others objectives related to communicative and emancipatory systems of action to be important. This research showed the teachers' perspectives of the objectives of Housing contents were not the same among respondents and generally supported the previous results from other contents of Home Economics.

Comparision of Verbs Used in the Learning Objectives in Physics Textbooks of Singapore, USA, & Korea (한국, 미국, 싱가포르 물리 교과서의 학습목표에 사용된 서술어 비교)

  • Textbooks corresponding to curriculum goals are necessary because they are specific products of curriculum and are the most important materials for teaching, learning, and evaluation. In particular, learning objectives written in textbooks should be clearly described because they play a role in promoting learning by showing learning goals to learners clearly. This study analyzed the characteristics of verbs used as predicate of learning objectives written in high school physics I and II textbooks of Korea and compared them with physics textbooks of Singapore and the United States. Results show that Korean textbooks have less kinds of verbs compared to those of Singapore and the United States, and the verbs with abstract and comprehensive meaning such as 'understand' and 'know' were mainly used. In American textbooks, it was noticeable that no verbs have been used by more than 10%. When classifying the learning objectives in the two Korean textbooks, cognitive domain accounted for 98 to 99%, and inquiry domain accounted for only 1% to 2%. With regard to physics textbooks of the United States, inquiry domain accounted for a large proportion of domains in learning objectives compared with physics textbooks of Korea and Singapore. Physics textbooks of Singapore were similar to those of Korea in that learning objectives were biased toward cognitive domain, but differed from those of Korea in that learning objectives were specifically described using action verbs.

A Study of the Relationships between the Employment Prospects, Life Aims and Life Satisfaction of University Students (대학생이 지각하는 취업전망, 영역별 삶의 목표 및 삶의 만족도의 관계)

  • The youth unemployment issue has not shown any improvement in years. The purpose of this study was to observe how employment issues affecting university students influence their life aims, self-efficacy, view of reality, view of the future, and life satisfaction. 239 students from three universities located in Seoul and Gyeonggi province were assessed through the instrument FLL and questions about employment issues, their life aims, life satisfaction and also their employment perspective. A total of 34 items of the FLL were divided through factor analysis into six higher life aims, self-love, family love and interpersonal aims, personal-financial aims, social-public aims, moral aims and political and ideological aims. Using Cluster analysis, three group profiles were found depending on the employment perspective such as a better view of reality, better self-efficacy, and better life satisfaction. A t-test was conducted in order to compare the two groups classified according to favorable or unfavorable employment perspectives. No significant differences existed between the groups in the perception of youth unemployment or in social-demographic factors, such as gender, age, and academic year. However, in life aims, the unfavorable group showed significantly higher interest in the domains of family love and interpersonal aims, personal -financial aims, and social-public aims than the favorable perspective group. Conversely, this group showed a significantly greater negative view of reality in most life domains, as it evaluated that its aims are more poorly achieved than the comparable group. Also, the unfavorable perspective group showed a lesser degree of self-efficacy in most life domains and the same in the category of life satisfaction, i.e., lesser satisfaction in all life domains except for family love, and moral aims. However, no significant difference existed between the groups in the view of the future. The results were discussed in relation to other social-cognitive factors for life satisfaction found in preceding studies.

Expert Delphi Survey on Educational Goals and Subjects for Developing a Music Gifted Curriculum (음악영재교육과정 개발을 위한 전문가 델파이 조사: 교육목표 및 교과목을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to extract and validate the educational goals and the subjects for developing a music gifted curriculum. Based on literature review and analysis of music gifted curricula in foreign countries, 19 educational goals and 18 subjects were derived from literature review and analysis of music gifted curricula in foreign countries. To validate the educational goals and the subjects, delphi survey was carried out twice with 26 expert panelists in the field of music, music education and music gifted education. Delphi survey was analyzed using the mean, content validity ratio, and the degree of consensus. The final set of educational goals for music gifted education included 6 skills related goals, 4 creative expression related goals, 4 knowledge related goals, and 2 attitude related goals. The final set of subjects included 4 major-specific subjects, 5 foundational subjects, 4 theory-related subjects, 3 integration and social participation related subjects. The results of this study can be used as baseline data to develop a music gifted curriculum by providing ideas for deciding what to teach and why to teach in music gifted education.

Analysis of Summative Evaluation Objectives in Middle School Biology based on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy of Educational Objectives (Bloom의 신 교육목표분류에 기초한 중학교 생물 영역 총괄 평가 문항의 목표 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out taxonomic characteristics of objectives infered from questions of summative evaluation by analyzing those objectives with Bloom's revised taxonomy of educational objectives. 1,711 questions of midterm and final examinations collected from 25 middle schools were analyzed to classify objective of each question. The major findings of the study were as follows: first, from the analysis of objectives in the knowledge dimension, the assessment of factual knowledge was most prevailing(67.6%) in the biology summative evaluation. In the cognitive process dimension, memory assessment was most dominant(76.1%). Thus, the main objectives of evaluation leaned toward particular classes in the Bloom's revised taxonomy, which was different from the findings of earlier studies on the weights of evaluation areas. Second, the level of the objectives should be determined in consideration of the grade of middle schoolers, as their cognitive level improves with grade. In fact, however, there was no difference among three grades in characteristics of objective taxonomy.

Development of educational objectives and content standards for clothing life area of home economics education (가정과교육에 있어서 의생활 영역의 교육목표와 내용 체계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop educational objectives and content standards for clothing life area based on the theoretical framework of home economics education. To achieve this, literature review and need assessment on curriculum contents for clothing life area were performed. and expert meetings and a workshop were held. The results were considered in developing educational objectives and content standards. The educational objectives were developed in both general and specific levels. The curriculum contents were developed according to educational objectives in the specific levels in the form of content standards. Specific concepts for each content standard were proposed. The curriculum materials proposed in this study can be applied flexibly to the future development of national curriculum and textbooks.
