  • Recently, interest in flight simulators based on HMD and mixed reality is increasing. However, they have limitations in providing various interactions and a sense of presence to pilot wearing HMD. To overcome these limitations, a mixed reality image corresponding to the interaction under the actual cockpit environment must be generated in real time and provided to the pilot. For this purpose, we proposed a mixed reality image generation method, in which the cockpit area including the pilot's body could be extracted from real image obtained from the camera attached to the HMD and then composed with virtual image to generate a high-resolution mixed reality image. Simulation results showed that the proposed method could provide mixed reality images to HMD at 30 Hz frame rate with 99% image composition accuracy.

  • In this paper, an extended snake algorithm using color variance energy is proposed for segmenting an interest object in color image. General snake algorithm makes use of energy in image to segment images into a interesting area and background. There are many kinds of energy that can be used by the snake algorithm. The efficiency of the snake algorithm is depend on what kind of energy is used. A general snake algorithm based on active contour model uses the intensity value as an image energy that can be implemented and analyzed easily. But it is sensitive to noises because the image gradient uses a differential operator to get its image energy. And it is difficult for the general snake algorithm to be applied on the complex image background. Therefore, the proposed snake algorithm efficiently segment an interest object on the color image by adding a color variance of the segmented area to the image energy. This paper executed various experiments to segment an interest object on color images with simple or complex background for verifying the performance of the proposed extended snake algorithm. It shows improved accuracy performance about 12.42 %.

  • The movement of the MR loaded on the train is confined to the bidirectional movement along the rail. Therefore, the AR connected to the MR can use the address information of the neighboring ARs and configure CoA in advance before performing L2 and L3 handoff. The MR can acquire new CoA immediately from the present AR after the movement detection procedure. The performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme can provide CoA to the MR about 1.8(s) at minimum and 4.98(s) at maximum faster than the Stateless scheme because the proposed scheme does not carry out any additional CoA and DAD procedure unlike the Stateless scheme.

  • With the recent development of device performance such as smartphones, cameras, and video cameras, it has become possible to obtain human biometric information from images and photos. A German hacker group obtained human iris information from high-definition photos and revealed hacking into iris scanners on smartphones. As high-quality images and photos can be obtained with such advanced devices, the need for a suitable security system is also emerging. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method of automatically masking human iris information in images and photos using Haar Cascades and Blur models from openCV. It is a technology that automatically masks iris information by recognizing a person's eye in a photo or video and provides the result. If this technology is used in devices and applications such as smartphones and zoom, it is expected to provide better security services to users.

  • This paper compares the sensorless control performance according to the applied voltage waveform by injecting sinusoidal, triangular, and square waveform in the harmonic injection sensorless control method. By injecting various voltage shape waveform with a frequency of 1kHz, the error amount of the estimated angle for each waveform is compared and analyzed. For the experiment, the HILS(hardware in the loop simulation) system was used. The hardware is the control board, and the inverter and motor models implemented in Simulik are located in the real-time simulator. The control algorithm is implemented by the FPGA control board, which includes a PWM interrupt service routine with a frequency of 10 kHz, harmonic injection and position detection sensorless algorithm.

  • This study presents an analysis of the human body channel as an electric signal path using body impulse response (BIR). The human body communications (HBC) has recently emerged as an effective signal transmission method to create wireless body area networks (WBAN). We provide body channel characteristics based on measured BIR in a proper experimental environment for the HBC using capacitive coupling with a customized channel sounding device, which can be applied as a guideline for the HBC system design. The frequency response of the BIR, extracted by a customized signal processing for the measure signals, shows the channel path loss (CPS) between 0 MHz and 100 MHz with an average CPS of approximately 46.8 dB. In addition, the relative noise power distributions can provide estimations on the signal to noise ratio at the HBC receiver in terms of capacitor and resistor values in the measured frequency band and the frequency band lower than 3 MHz considering the baseband signal detection.

  • In the realm of dental prosthesis fabrication, obtaining accurate impressions has historically been a challenging and inefficient process, often hindered by hygiene concerns and patient discomfort. Addressing these limitations, Company D recently introduced a cutting-edge solution by harnessing the potential of intraoral scan images to create 3D dental models. However, the complexity of these scan images, encompassing not only teeth and gums but also the palate, tongue, and other structures, posed a new set of challenges. In response, we propose a sophisticated real-time image segmentation algorithm that selectively extracts pertinent data, specifically focusing on teeth and gums, from oral scan images obtained through Company D's oral scanner for 3D model generation. A key challenge we tackled was the detection of the intricate molar regions, common in dental imaging, which we effectively addressed through intelligent data augmentation for enhanced training. By placing significant emphasis on both accuracy and speed, critical factors for real-time intraoral scanning, our proposed algorithm demonstrated exceptional performance, boasting an impressive accuracy rate of 0.91 and an unrivaled FPS of 92.4. Compared to existing algorithms, our solution exhibited superior outcomes when integrated into Company D's oral scanner. This algorithm is scheduled for deployment and commercialization within Company D's intraoral scanner.

  • Currently, with the proliferation of digital devices, the significance of handwritten texts in daily lives is gradually diminishing. As the use of keyboards and touch screens increase, a decline in Korean handwriting quality is being observed across a broad spectrum of Korean documents, from young students to adults. However, Korean handwriting still remains necessary for many documentations, as it retains individual unique features while ensuring readability. To this end, this paper aims to implement an application designed to improve and correct the quality of handwritten Korean script The implemented application utilizes the CRAFT (Character-Region Awareness For Text Detection) model for handwriting area detection and employs the VGG-Feature-Extraction as a deep learning model for learning features of the handwritten script. Simultaneously, the application presents the user's handwritten Korean script's reliability on a syllable-by-syllable basis as a recognition rate and also suggests the most similar fonts among candidate fonts. Furthermore, through various experiments, it can be confirmed that the proposed application provides an excellent recognition rate comparable to conventional commercial character recognition OCR systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for accurately and rapidly detecting defects in wire harnesses by utilizing computer vision to calculate six crucial measurement values: the length of crimped terminals, the dimensions (width) of terminal ends, and the width of crimped sections (wire and core portions). We employ Harris corner detection to locate object positions from two types of data. Additionally, we generate reference points for extracting measurement values by utilizing features specific to each measurement area and exploiting the contrast in shading between the background and objects, thus reflecting the slope of each sample. Subsequently, we introduce a method using the Euclidean distance and correction coefficients to predict values, allowing for the prediction of measurements regardless of changes in the wire's position. We achieve high accuracy for each measurement type, 99.1%, 98.7%, 92.6%, 92.5%, 99.9%, and 99.7%, achieving outstanding overall average accuracy of 97% across all measurements. This inspection method not only addresses the limitations of conventional visual inspections but also yields excellent results with a small amount of data. Moreover, relying solely on image processing, it is expected to be more cost-effective and applicable with less data compared to deep learning methods.
