The purpose of this study is to discover the occupational identity by examining the narrative of the life of a vocational training teacher with self-esteem in programming fields. The following six types of occupational identity were found: 'a positive image of a vocational training teacher(fits oneself)', 'I feel proud of myself while doing vocational training activities.', 'a teacher who continues to develop him/herself as an expert in the subject class', 'a teacher who immerses him/herself as an expert on student change and growth', 'a teacher engaged in leading activities to create opportunities for vocational training', and 'a teacher of continuous pursuit'. This study has significance in exploring the structure of occupational identity recognition and experience of its formation of a self-esteemed vocational training teacher in programming fields, which have not been studied.

영어 교육의 필요성이 증가하고 그에 대한 수요가 늘어남에 따라 컴퓨터를 이용한 외국어 교육 시스템이 개인적인 영어 교육방법으로 소개되고 있다. 새로운 외국어를 접할 때 습득하기 어려운 부분 중 하나가 발음이고, 발음이 외국어 말하기 실력에 중요한 요소이기 때문에 특별한 훈련이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점에 대하여 충분히 인지하고 외국어 발음 향상에 도움을 주기 위하여 컴퓨터 보조 발음 훈련시스템을 개발하였다. 본 시스템은 발음 훈련과 억앙 훈련, 즉 문장 강세 훈련과 끊어 읽기 훈련을 포함하며, 사용자의 발화에 대해 적절한 평가와 피드백을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 발음 훈련 시스템의 구성요소와 동작에 대하여 중점적으로 기술하였다.

최근 국가적 차원에서 영어교육에 대한 많은 투자가 이루어지고 있으나 기존의 주입식, 암기식 영어 교육은 회화 실력 향상에 큰 도움을 주지 못하였다. 컴퓨터를 이용한 영어교육 또한 많은 관심을 얻고 있으나 실제 의사소통을 위한 회화 학습에 대한 고려는 깊지 않으며, 주어진 흐름의 대본을 따라 단순히 읽고 반복하는 수준의 시스템만 존재하고 있다. 이러한 학습형태는 흥미 유발 동기가 약하여 사용자로 하여금 장기간 꾸준히 학습하게 만들지 못한다는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제점에 대하여 제2언어 습득 이론에 바탕을 둔 자연어 처리 기반 몰입 환경 영어 교육 시스템을 제안한다. 이는 도메인 확장성이 뛰어난 예제 기반 대화 시스템을 3 차원 가상공간과 결합한 시스템으로 자연스러운 대화를 통한 외국어 회화 연습을 하는 과정에서 학습자의 발화 오류를 분석하고 교육적 피드백을 제공한다. 또한 현실과 비슷한 몰입 환경에서 체험형 기술을 통해 자발적인 학습을 유도하고 집중력, 기억력을 획기적으로 높이고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 영어교육 시스템의 이론적 배경, 예제 기반 대화관리, 시스템 구성요소와 동작에 대하여 중점적으로 기술하였다.

This study aims to suggest more efficient ways of teaching English more related to but distinct from major English, based on the needs and awareness of the students of English Education Department. For this, interviews and surveys have been carried out targeting some English Education majors. The results show that the satisfaction level of students is relatively low, marking around the score '3'. While the satisfaction level about classroom environment including the multi-media equipment, and professors' teaching ability, quality and methods is higher compared with other factors, the improvement of English skills and interest-causing levels are lower on average. Besides, this study also includes the surveys on the needs of students for various teaching programs, differentiated classes and qualified instructors. Based on the results, this study makes three suggestions as follows; (1) the opening of some specific English classes for English-education majors (2) the development of English-conversation classes related to English-education majors (3) the development of communication-centered English reading based on English literature.

Instructive lessons in the language classrooms are extremely constrictive to language learners in improving their English skills, thus, the use of technology in education plays an important role in a language classroom. Results of language proficiency improvement of the learners vary depending on the extent of supplementary materials offered by the internet delivered to the learners. The purpose of the present study is to explore and propose a new approach of language acquisition offered by the internet. This study presents effective methods of using the internet in carrying out the written work. In this paper, we show that the relationship between participation of the learners in the class activities and improvement of English writing skills are mutually proportional.

This study is a report of an intensive ESP(English for Specific Purposes) program conducted for the College of Economic students in Korean University. This is planned for the students to enhance their English achievement in comprehending the subject contents which they would learn in the near future. In order to determine whether the course helped the students enhance their English achievement or not, a pre and post test were taken, one at the beginning of the semester and the other at the end of semester. The result of the test shows that this program benefits relevant students, especially lower level students. In accordance with a general accepted view, the English for Specific Purposes(ESP) program is generally targeted for students who expect to learn the basic knowledge of English through mediated courses. Since students already have specific purpose of studying for their major courses, their motivation and interest in the course are higher than the students who don't have any specific purpose. Therefore, this study shows that the students who took English for Specific Purposes(ESP) had higher motivation and interest to study English related to their major courses as the test results were higher than before they had taken the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program.

Soo-Yeoun Kim & Ji-Eun Kim 2016. A Study on ESP Skating English Education Based on Job Analysis. This study aims to provide skating ESP(English for Specific Purposes) education model for skating instructors in Korea. For this purpose, a total of twenty-seven professional skating instructors were surveyed according to a questionnaire, which asked about their English skills and perspective of the importance of English study and English skating class. The main results are as follows: most skating instructors' confidence in their English is low; majority of them answered that English study is needed for skating instructors; a majority of them want English teaching that focused on speaking and teaching activities. After that, skating instructors' jobs were analyzed using the DACUM(Developing A Curriculum Method). A DACUM committee extracted the duties and tasks which require English education and conducted a survey that targeted skating instructors. When interpreting the study on ESP Skating English Education based on job analysis, it was evident that the English language would be essential for enabling effective communication with judges during national sports competitions, information exchange with foreign skaters, and for technical skating instructions. This research aims to suggest a gamified smart learning design for Korean EFL young learners' speaking proficiency. Gamification is the use of game-thinking and game mechanics in non-game contexts to engage users in solving problems. Thus, the gamified smart learning as gamification in education is designed not only to elicit students' participation but also to enhance speaking skills. Especially, this research based on the results of a pilot study is focused on easing the burden of homework as well as engaging the speaking English game for the primary students with a relatively short attention span. The game elements utilized in this study are competition, rewards, customized characterization and so on. Kakao Talk is selected for this gamified smart learning research because of its ease of accessibility, and multiple applicable functions for language learning such as voice recording, text messaging and sharing videos or photos. Gamification in smart learning can be a means of productive approach to contemporary EFL teaching and learning.

Maritime English is a specialized language system designed for ship operations, maritime safety, and external and internal communication onboard. According to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), it is imperative that navigational officers engaged in international voyages have a thorough understanding of Maritime English including the use of Standard Marine Communication Phrases (SMCP). This study measured students' proficiency in Maritime English using a learning and testing platform that includes voice recognition, translation, and word entry tasks to evaluate the resulting improvement in Maritime English exam scores. Furthermore, the study aimed to investigate the level of platform use needed for cadets to qualify as junior navigators. The experiment began by examining the correlation between students' overall English skills and their proficiency in SMCP through an initial test, followed by the evaluation of improvements in their scores and changes in exam duration during the mid-term and final exams. The initial test revealed a significant dif erence in Maritime English test scores among groups based on individual factors, such as TOEIC scores and self-assessment of English ability, and both the mid-term and final tests confirmed substantial score improvements for the group using the platform. This study confirmed the efficacy of a learning platform that could be extensively applied in maritime education and potentially expanded beyond the scope of Maritime English education in the future.

This study explored how Korean immigrants education, length of stay and English fluency affect their political socialization, mediated through traditional news media and the news Web use. Political socialization included political knowledge, interest, and participation. The media usage patterns included U.S. news media, U.S. news Web, Korean news Web, and Korean news Media use by Korean immigrants in the United State. This study found as follows. First, education, length of stay, and English fluency indirectly increased political socialization(political knowledge, interest, and participation) through their relationship with U.S. news media use. Second, U.S. news Web played a potentially important role in Korean immigrants' political socialization by increasing their political interest. Third, Korean news media partly contributed to Korean immigrants' political socialization by increasing their political interest. Fourth, Korean news Web use did not contribute to Korean immigrants' political socialization in terms of political knowledge, interest, and participation at all. In conclusion, this study found that traditional news media's role was more important than news Web's one in the process of immigrants' political socialization to the host society.
