  • The electronic nose (E-nose) recently finds its applications in medical diagnosis, specifically on detection of diabetes, pulmonary or gastrointestinal problem, or infections by examining odors in the breath or tissues with its odor characterizing ability. The odor recognition performance of E-nose can be improved by manipulating the sensor array responses of vapors in time-profile forms. The different chemical interactions between the sensor materials and the volatile organic compounds (VOC's) leave unique marks in the signal profiles giving more information than collection of the conventional piecemal features, i.e., maximum sensitivity, signal slopes, rising time. In this study, to use them in vapor recognition task conveniently, a novel time-profile method was proposed, which is adopted from digital image pattern matching. The degrees of matching between 8 different vapors were evaluated by using the proposed method. The test vapors are measured by the silicon-based gas sensor array with 16 CB-polymer composites installed in membrane structure. The results by the proposed method showed clear discrimination of vapor species than by the conventional method.

  • The overall effects of black rice wine (BRW) on black rice bread were examined through the gluten washing test, mixograph and image analysis by Cnunbscan. Commercially produced black rice flour had a much lower amount of gluten than the strong flour However, the mixture with $30\%$(flour basis) black rice flour and $70\%$ strong flour exhibited a good indication for bread making showing $30\%$ wet gluten and $14\%$ dry gluten. In the mixogram results, the peak time showed the highest value for $10\%$ added BRW, indicating an inappropriate level at $50\%$, and the changes of tail width after 8 minutes expressed that the dough became soft and sticky with increasing addition of BRW The volume of bread was increased when BRW was added, and showed the highest value at $20\%$ BRW. In relationship between the volume and bread characteristics, volume showed a highly negative relation with crumb fineness (r=-0.678) and a positive relation with crust thickness (r=0.693).

  • In this study, to develop a higher value-added makgeolli, the Korean traditional rice wine were made of four kinds of raw material cereals (wheat flour, puffed rice, non-glutinous rice, and glutinous rice). To investigate the development potential of makgeolli as functional materials, their physicochemical characteristics, phenol, flavonoid, and vitamin contents, and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)(ABTS) radical scavenging activity were evaluated. Puffed rice makgeolli and non-glutinous rice makgeolli among four types of makgeolli were higher contents of alcohol (16-16.5%). Of four types of makgeolli, puffed rice makgeolli showed 5.2±0.06 mg GAE/mL, the highest level content of total phenol, and flavonoid contents of them were similarly high, with a level of 470-490 ㎍ QE/mL. Puffed rice makgeolli containing the highest level content of total phenol resulted in 81.5%, the highest activity of ABTS radical scavenging. These results suggest that puffed rice may be an effective raw material for makgeolli to be developed the antioxidant functional materials.

  • By using a Chest Phantom(DUKE Phantom) focusing on dose reduction of diagnostic radiation field with the most use of artificial radiation, and attempt to reduce radiation dose studies technical radiation. Publisher of the main user of the X-ray Radiological technologists, Examine the effect of reducing the radiation dose to apply additional filtering of the X-ray generator. In order to understand the organ dose and effective dose by using the PC-Based Monte Carlo Program(PCXMC) Program, the patient receives, was carried out this research. In this experiment, by applying a complex filter using a copper and Al(aluminum,13) and filtered single of using only aluminum with the condition set, and measures the number of the disk of copper indicated by DUKE Phantom. The combination of the composite filtration and filtration of a single number of the disk of the copper is the same, with the PCXMC 2.0. Program looking combination of additional filtration fewest absorbed dose was calculated effective dose and organ dose. Although depends on the use mAs, The 80 kVp AP projection conditions, it is possible to reduce the effective amount of about 84 % from about 30 % to a maximum at least. The 120 kVp PA projection conditions, it is possible to reduce the effective amount of about 71 % from about 41 % to a maximum of at least. The organ dose, dose reduction rate was different in each organ, but it showed a decrease of dose rate of 30 % to up 100 % at least. Additional filtration was used on the imaging conditions throughout the study. There was no change in terms of video quality at low doses. It was found that using the DUKE Phantom and PCXMC 2.0 Program were suitable to calculate the effect of reducing the effective dose and organ dose.

  • This study was to investigate the elementary students' preconception on the brightness of electric bulb and degree of consistency on their preconceptions. Participants were 160 students of fifth graders in Seoul area. They had already teamed about the brightness of series circuit and parallel circuit of batteries. After they solved six problems in the same context, we provided them a pair of circuit which was an anomalous situation. And then they conducted CCLT (Cognitive Conflict Level Test). Elementary school students showed various preconceptions when they explained the light of bulb of two Simple electric Circuits. Many Students Consistently Showed the Scientific misconceptions like 'the light of bulb of two simple electric circuits was that the more batteries and the fewer bulbs were brighter.' The level of consistency that students presented scientific misconceptions was grouped all of four, such as 'high, middle, low, and nothing.' Therefore the higher scientific achievement they have, the higher consistency they have. As the students had high consistency level, they revealed high cognitive conflict level significantly. This high consistency will help them to change their preconception on the brightness of electric bulb and their cognitive conflict.
